Picacho Peak RV Resort Introduce
If you are searching for "RV parks near me" specifically catering to the 55+ community in Arizona, Picacho Peak RV Resort, located at 17065 E Peak Ln, Picacho, AZ 85145, USA, is a destination that warrants consideration. You can reach them at (520) 466-7841 or +1 520-466-7841 for inquiries about availability and the amenities they offer. This resort appears to offer a blend of scenic beauty, a welcoming community, and a variety of activities for active adults.
One of the most frequently praised aspects of Picacho Peak RV Resort is its location, offering "absolutely beautiful views." This scenic backdrop can significantly enhance the living experience, providing residents and visitors with a pleasant and visually appealing environment. The resort also seems to foster a strong sense of community, with many residents being either full-time or returning snowbirds annually. The positive interactions with these long-term residents are highlighted, with one reviewer noting, "We loved meeting many of them," indicating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere within the park.
For those who enjoy an active lifestyle, Picacho Peak RV Resort offers "very nice" trails for hiking and biking, allowing residents to explore the surrounding natural beauty and stay physically active. The activities program is also a key feature, with reviewers commending the efforts of Darla and Kelly, who reportedly do their best to make activities fun within their budgetary and logistical constraints. Additionally, the availability of church services led by Frank and his wife is mentioned as a wonderful aspect of the community, suggesting a welcoming environment for those seeking spiritual engagement.
The resort also boasts a range of amenities and activities to cater to diverse interests. These include a wood shop, pickleball courts, water aerobics, and yoga sessions, providing ample opportunities for residents to pursue hobbies, stay fit, and socialize. For those seeking relaxation, the resort offers a pool and hot tub, although one reviewer noted that these amenities are "too small" for the size of the park. The availability of a portable propane fill station is also mentioned as a convenient plus for RV owners.
Another positive aspect highlighted is the cleanliness and upkeep of certain facilities. One reviewer noted that "the bathroom and showers are well cared for," indicating a commitment to maintaining hygiene and providing comfortable facilities for guests. The presence of "good people all around" further reinforces the friendly and welcoming atmosphere within the resort.
However, alongside these positive aspects, there are also some significant drawbacks mentioned in the reviews that potential residents should be aware of. One notable concern is the noise level due to the resort's location in "very noisy surroundings with interstate & railroad traffic which can not be avoided." This could be a significant issue for individuals sensitive to noise and may impact the overall tranquility of the living environment.
Several reviewers also point out areas where the resort needs improvement to remain competitive with other 55+ "resorts." The small size of the clubhouse is mentioned as a limitation for large events. Additionally, the laundry room is described as "ridiculously out of date," small, and with broken machines that remained out of service for an extended period (two months in one instance). These issues suggest that the resort may need to invest in upgrading and maintaining its facilities to meet the expectations of a modern RV resort.
Another specific concern raised is the condition of the shuffleboard facility. Despite being advertised, one reviewer found only "ONE lane with a crack right down the middle that hadn’t been used in years!" This discrepancy between advertised amenities and their actual condition is something potential residents should verify.
Finally, a need for a "groundsman or maintenance person" is expressed, as the resort is perceived to lack dedicated staff for upkeep, which is common in other 55+ "resorts." This could contribute to the issues with outdated and broken facilities and the overall maintenance of the grounds.
In summary, Picacho Peak RV Resort offers a 55+ community with stunning views, a friendly atmosphere, and a variety of activities. The positive aspects include the welcoming residents, the scenic location, and the range of recreational opportunities. However, potential residents should be aware of the significant noise from nearby transportation infrastructure and the reported need for upgrades and better maintenance of facilities such as the pool, hot tub, clubhouse, and laundry room. The condition of advertised amenities like the shuffleboard court should also be verified.
For those searching for "RV parks near me" in the 55+ category who prioritize community and activities and are willing to potentially overlook some of the mentioned shortcomings, Picacho Peak RV Resort could be an option. However, it is strongly recommended that prospective residents contact the resort directly to inquire about the current status of the facilities, noise levels, and any recent improvements or planned upgrades to ensure it meets their expectations for a comfortable and enjoyable living experience.

Picacho Peak RV Resort Reviews
This 55+ site has an absolutely beautiful view with such nice people many of which live there full time or come back as snow birds annually. We loved meeting many of them. The trails for hiking & biking were very nice! Darla & Kelly were awesome! They did everything they could within their budget & confines to make activities fun. The church services with Frank & his wife were wonderful & we will miss them. The park is located in very noisy surroundings with interstate & railroad traffic which can not be avoided. We hope upper management or owners realize “keeping up” is critical if they want higher ratings in this competitive environment. While the pool & hot tub are nice, they are too small. The clubhouse is also too small for large events. The laundry room is ridiculously out of date. It’s very small & the same machines were broken for 2 months. Either fix or replace them! We were told there was shuffleboard there but when we arrived we found there was ONE lane with a crack right down the middle that hadn’t been used in years! The park needs a groundsman or maintenance person like ALL other 55+ “resorts” have!
Mar 11, 2025 · Diane VogelA very nice 55± RV Park with a permanent option. The pool is nice, and the bathroom and showers are well cared for. There are plenty of things to do and see every day. From a wood shop to pickleball, water aerobics to yoga; or if you prefer, just relax. Good people are all around. Kick back and enjoy a visit or a stay-cation. Portable propane fill station is definitely a plus.
Apr 11, 2025 · William GehrClean, quiet, great prices, friendly professional staff, easy convenient location, and quite peaceful. Spaces are roomy and well maintained. I’m not a fan of laundry connected to the office, as I have sensitivity to artificial fragrance/VOCs, but the check in was fast and easy. This is a large property with a huge variety of accommodations from the small camper site to the large motor coach site, and home sites. Everyone was friendly, so are their dogs! I did not use the amenities, but there were planned activities, and many opportunities to relax and enjoy the property. Power chair friendly paved streets, and hard packed RV space with patio with privacy dividers is a big bonus for us.Oh, the view is fantastic, as we were right under the peak.
Jan 28, 2025 · Imagination CardsThis is a very nice RV park. Nice staff, people, nice dog park. And a nice HEATED pool at 84 degrees! Very clean, clear water. Nice clean showers. Would stay again for sure. Thanks Picacho Peak RV park. Also great nearby hiking. Also recommend Picacho Peak State Park And for what you get, prices are reasonable.
Jan 13, 2025 · Fred ReadWe love it here, a lot of activities, beautiful location, nice and quiet. There is a fairly good-sized laundry. Plenty of space for walking or biking.Cons:Not much nearby for shopping or restaurants. You can't get your mail here. For such a large park, there's only one set of bathrooms.Wifi is not very strong.
