Port of Newport RV Park & Marina - South Beach Introduce
Looking for an RV park in the vibrant South Beach area of Newport, Oregon? Port of Newport RV Park & Marina - South Beach, located at 2120 SE Marine Science Dr, Newport, OR 97365, USA, offers a unique experience for those searching under the "RV parks near me" category. Situated right on the marina, this park boasts convenient access to waterfront activities and nearby attractions. However, recent reviews present a mixed picture, highlighting both positive aspects and potential areas of concern for prospective guests.
One positive review describes the park as "Clean" and ideally located "right on the marina" with "Easy to access" sites. The reviewer also commends the "Desk people" as "friendly," suggesting a positive initial interaction with the park's administrative staff. A significant advantage noted is the availability of "Paved spots with full hook ups," which are highly desirable for RV travelers seeking convenience and comfort. Furthermore, the park is highlighted as being "Great for fishermen," implying easy access to fishing opportunities, likely due to its marina location.
Beyond the park itself, the location offers additional benefits. The reviewer mentions "Activities within walking distance" and the availability of a "shuttle to downtown," providing convenient transportation and access to the broader attractions and amenities of Newport. The park is also described as "Quiet," which can be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing environment during their travels.
However, a contrasting and concerning review details a significantly negative experience with the park's camp hosts. The reviewer states that the hosts were the "WORST AND RUDIEST I have ever dealt with." This strong criticism raises serious concerns about the level of customer service provided by the on-site management. The specific incident described involves the reviewer potentially missing directional signs and arriving shortly after the stated closing time (though their clock indicated the office was already closed before the official closing time). Upon encountering a "Park issue due to outdated hookups" that prevented them from getting power, they sought assistance from the hosts, which seemingly resulted in a negative interaction.
Adding to their dissatisfaction, the reviewer mentioned paying "almost 100 a night with veteran discount," a price point that, in their opinion, should warrant "much better service" and even a host that simply "acknowledges you would be better." This suggests that the perceived value for money was low, especially given the negative interaction with the camp hosts and the issue with the "outdated hookups." The mention of "outdated hookups" is another critical point for potential guests to consider, as it could indicate potential issues with the reliability or functionality of essential services like electricity.
Considering these two reviews, it's evident that while Port of Newport RV Park & Marina - South Beach offers a prime waterfront location with clean, paved sites and convenient access to amenities and activities, the experience can be significantly impacted by the quality of the camp hosts and potential issues with the park's infrastructure, such as "outdated hookups."
For those interested in fishing and being directly on the marina, the park's location is undoubtedly a major selling point. The availability of full hookups and paved sites adds to the convenience and comfort for RV travelers. The proximity to walkable activities and the shuttle service to downtown Newport further enhance the park's appeal by providing easy access to dining, shopping, and other attractions without the need to drive.
However, the negative feedback regarding the camp hosts cannot be ignored. Positive interactions with park staff can significantly contribute to a pleasant stay, and conversely, rude or unhelpful hosts can detract from the overall experience, regardless of the park's physical attributes. The issue of "outdated hookups" also warrants further investigation by potential guests to ensure their RV can be properly and safely connected to essential utilities.
When considering a stay at Port of Newport RV Park & Marina - South Beach, it would be prudent to inquire specifically about the condition of the electrical hookups and whether any upgrades or maintenance have been performed recently. Additionally, while direct interaction with camp hosts may be unavoidable, being aware of the potential for negative encounters based on the review is essential for managing expectations.
To gather more information and make an informed decision, prospective guests should contact the park directly at (541) 867-3321 or their mobile number +1 541-867-3321. When calling, it would be beneficial to ask about the age and condition of the utility hookups at the sites, the typical interactions with camp hosts, and any specific policies or procedures to be aware of upon arrival. Inquiring about recent guest feedback or management responses to the concerns raised in online reviews might also provide further clarity.
In conclusion, Port of Newport RV Park & Marina - South Beach offers a desirable location for RVers seeking waterfront access and proximity to Newport's attractions. The clean, paved sites with full hookups are definite advantages. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported issues with the camp hosts and the possibility of outdated hookups. Weighing the prime location and amenities against the potential for negative interactions and infrastructure issues will be key to determining if this RV park is the right choice for your stay in Newport, Oregon.

The camp hosts are the WORST AND RUDIEST I have ever dealt with. I may have not seen (the absence of) posted directional signs or may have pulled in minutes to 5, OF WHICH THEY WERE ALREADY CLOSED BEFORE CLOSING ACCORDING TO MY CLOCK but I didn't even have power in my sight. Park issue due to outdated hookups. This makes me go to the HOST sight to ask for assistance. For almost 100 a night with veteran discount, this should be much better service. Even a host that acknowledges you would be better.

May 09, 2025 · Peggy SandbergWe ended up staying 5 months in the Annex! The monthly prices during the off season are way overpriced. During the on season even way more overpriced. If staying here again I would definitely choose the Marina side instead of the annex. I would say any place not backed up to the Motel 6 would be great! Motel 6 couldn't get a handle on the bridge workers who were staying on a basis. They enjoyed loud parties, get togethers, grills on the balcony and you ended up with a yard full of cigarette butts, leftover food containers and food! Regular visitors were the same. There really is no privacy between your RV and the motel or your neighbors for that matter. Our neighbor was a spot & parking hog, they have been there for a few years not (not sure how that works when the limit is supposed to be 6 months). Not all spots have 50 amp so I am sure the spots are limited. If I had to stay again it would be on the east side of the annex. When it rains it gets very muddy and potholes and it becomes difficult to park your vehicle without causing ruts and they become deep ruts because there is no where else to park. Not sure when they last filled the pot holes. It seems like the codes are handed out freely by previous guests as they have to change the bathroom codes often. The laundry room hasn't changed in over 6 years, same machines and same dirtiness. Expensive to wash and dry. The internet has not improved at all it is almost non existent. The channels you get are very limited in the annex and you do not get what is advertised. So in the 6 years since we last stayed long term the prices have pretty doubled and the service has not improved to match the services. The views in the Marina are outstanding the annex still leaves a lot to be desired. You things with the amount they charge they could have greatly improved the annex! Hannah has some great customer service skills!

Feb 25, 2025 · yuliya kasyanchukGreat RV park right off 101. The park has very nice facilities, the spots are nice and long, and everything is very well maintained. It’s located right in the marina where you can catch great sunsets or walk over to Rogue Brewing Company. Only about 20 minutes from Devil’s Punchbowl and some great lighthouses. Highly recommend!
