Surfside Community Introduce
Are you seeking a mobile home community or considering long-term RV living in the charming coastal town of Newport, Oregon? Surfside Community, located at 392 NW 3rd St, Newport, OR 97365, USA, presents an appealing option for those looking under the category of "RV parks near me" who desire a location with excellent access to the beach and local attractions. While the park itself receives high praise for its environment and location, feedback regarding the management warrants careful consideration for prospective residents.
One enthusiastic reviewer awarded the park itself a "5-star rating," highlighting its prime location "close to the beach" and within "walking distance to Nye Beach shops and restaurant." This proximity to both natural beauty and local amenities is a significant draw, offering residents and long-term RVers the convenience of coastal living with easy access to dining, shopping, and recreational activities. The reviewer also explicitly states that "The park is very clean and nice," underscoring the well-maintained environment of Surfside Community.
Another brief review echoes this sentiment, describing the location as "Nice and clean." This consistent positive feedback regarding the park's cleanliness and overall aesthetic suggests that Surfside Community takes pride in maintaining its grounds and providing a pleasant living environment for its residents.
However, a more detailed and critical review presents a contrasting perspective, focusing on the experience with the park's management. This reviewer recounts a difficult experience following the passing of their father, who had been a resident of Surfside Community for ten years. The core of the complaint revolves around the manager's actions immediately after being notified of the resident's death. According to the reviewer, the manager "immediately unplugged his utilities before talking to us," resulting in the RV being without power upon their arrival. The reviewer perceived this action as "greedy and inconsiderate," attributing it to the manager's desire to save on utility costs, especially given that it was dark when a friend went to secure the property.
Furthermore, the reviewer details ongoing challenges in managing their father's estate through probate while dealing with the park's management. They continued to pay rent and utilities for several months as they navigated the legal processes required to sell the RV and vehicles. The park's policy of only accepting checks and not offering electronic payment options is also mentioned as an inconvenience. Additionally, the timing of utility invoices, which reportedly arrived after the end of the month with a "very small window" for timely payment via mail, led to a late fee being imposed on the reviewer, despite their efforts to coordinate utility costs with rent payments while awaiting probate approval.
The reviewer's overall assessment of the manager is highly negative, describing her as "very greedy, insensitive, and difficult to work with during a hard time." This experience led the reviewer to express sympathy for anyone else who might have to interact with her, while reiterating the positive aspects of the park itself and noting that the current management might be relatively new.
Considering these varied reviews, Surfside Community appears to be a mobile home park with significant positive attributes, primarily its desirable location near the beach and Nye Beach, and its well-maintained and clean environment. These factors would undoubtedly appeal to those seeking a coastal living experience with convenient access to local amenities. For individuals looking under "RV parks near me" for a longer-term stay, these aspects remain attractive.
However, the serious concerns raised about the park's management cannot be overlooked. The detailed account of insensitivity and difficulty in communication during a sensitive time, coupled with inflexible payment policies and potential issues with utility management, could significantly impact a resident's or long-term RV guest's experience. Prospective residents should be aware of these potential challenges and consider how they might navigate such situations.
When considering Surfside Community, it would be beneficial to inquire about the current management policies, payment options, and procedures for handling estate matters or unforeseen circumstances. Understanding the park's approach to resident communication and support is crucial for making an informed decision.
To learn more about Surfside Community, including the availability of mobile home lots or long-term RV spaces, specific rental rates, and current management policies, interested individuals should contact the park directly at (541) 265-2109 or their mobile number +1 541-265-2109. Speaking with the management will provide the most up-to-date information and allow potential residents to ask specific questions related to their needs and concerns.
In conclusion, Surfside Community offers a compelling combination of a fantastic location in Newport, Oregon, with easy access to the beach and Nye Beach amenities, and a reputation for being a clean and well-maintained park. However, the negative feedback regarding the management's insensitivity and difficult policies during a challenging time warrants careful consideration. Prospective residents should weigh the positive aspects of the park's environment and location against the potential challenges associated with management based on the available reviews.

Surfside Community Reviews
The park itself is very nice- a 5 star rating! It is close to the beach, walking distance to Nye Beach shops and restaurant. The park is very clean and nice. The manager gets a 1 star rating. My Dad lived there for 10 years and when he died, his estate went into probate so I wasn’t able to immediately remove his RV until I got court approval. The manager immediately unplugged his utilities before talking to us so when and we got there everything was turned off. She probably did this to save a few dollars on utility costs, but it was dark when we had a friend go there to lock up the place the day he died. It just seems greedy and inconsiderate to unplug the utilities the day of being notified of his death- all to save a few dollars. We worked with her and continued to pay rent and utilities for several months while we worked through the probate processes and got court permission to sell his rv and vehicles. They only take checks and no electronic payment, and she didn’t send invoices for utility fees until after the end of the month so there is a very small window to get the check to her on time. Because we were waiting for the utility cost from her to tack on to the rent costs, and had to mail in a check, we were a few days late once (I believe the check still made it there by the 10th or 15th of the month) and she tacked on a late fee. This woman was very greedy, insensitive, and difficult to work with during a hard time. I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with her. The park itself is great and I believe this management is fairly new.
