Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park Introduce
For local adventurers and long-distance hikers searching for "RV parks near me" in the charming and historic town of Julian, California, Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park, located on the legendary Great Southern Overland Stage Route, offers a welcoming and well-equipped haven. This campground and RV park stands out for its exceptional hospitality, convenient amenities, and specific services tailored to hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), making it an ideal spot for both short-term stays and longer periods of rest and recuperation.
The environment surrounding Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park is characterized by the scenic beauty of the Julian area. Nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains, Julian is known for its apple orchards, historic charm, and access to numerous hiking trails and natural attractions. The campground's location on the Great Southern Overland Stage Route, a historic transportation corridor, adds a touch of heritage to the setting. Visitors can expect a mountainous environment with fresh air, beautiful views, and a peaceful atmosphere, providing a welcome escape from the desert landscapes further east or the urban sprawl to the west. The cooler temperatures at this higher elevation can be particularly appealing during the warmer months.
One of the most prominent features of Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park is the exceptional hospitality provided by Mike and Josh, as highlighted in a glowing customer review. Their helpfulness towards a PCT hiker needing to recoup after 77 miles on the trail underscores a commitment to guest needs that goes above and beyond. The assistance provided to the hiker in all their needs speaks to a personalized and caring approach to hospitality, making guests feel truly welcome and supported during their stay.
For Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers, Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park offers a particularly enticing perk: free ice cream. This thoughtful gesture demonstrates a clear understanding of the needs and desires of long-distance hikers and provides a delightful treat after days or weeks on the trail. This promotional offering, while specific to PCT hikers, highlights the park's welcoming attitude towards this unique group of travelers and adds a memorable touch to their experience.
In addition to catering to hikers, Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park offers amenities that benefit all guests, including those traveling in RVs or seeking cabin accommodations. One reviewer, also a PCT hiker, praised the availability of a two-person cabin, which provided essential shelter from the wind. This suggests that the park offers cabin rentals as an alternative to tent camping or RV stays, providing a comfortable and enclosed space for those who prefer it.
The availability of hot showers is another significant amenity mentioned by the PCT hiker. After days on the trail or outdoor adventures in the Julian area, access to hot showers is a crucial comfort for maintaining hygiene and well-being. This basic yet essential service contributes greatly to a positive guest experience.
Laundry facilities are also available at Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park, as noted by the reviewer. This is a particularly valuable amenity for long-distance travelers like PCT hikers, allowing them to wash and refresh their clothing during their stay. For RV travelers on extended trips, on-site laundry facilities provide added convenience and reduce the need to seek out external services.
The mention of "easy food (including resupply)" is another significant benefit, especially for hikers. Resupply options are critical for those undertaking long journeys on foot, and having these available at the campground eliminates the need for potentially time-consuming trips into town. The availability of "easy food" likely refers to snacks, basic meals, or perhaps even a small store on-site, providing convenient options for guests who may not want to cook or need quick sustenance.
Finally, the reviewer raved about the "great milkshakes" and described the hospitality as "some of the best I’ve had in a while!!" This enthusiastic endorsement speaks volumes about the overall guest experience at Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park. The combination of friendly and helpful staff, comfortable accommodations (including cabins), essential amenities (hot showers, laundry), convenient food options, and even a special treat for PCT hikers creates a welcoming and memorable environment.
While the reviews primarily focus on the experiences of PCT hikers, the amenities and hospitality described would undoubtedly benefit all types of travelers, including RVers and those simply looking for a peaceful and well-equipped campground in the Julian area. The quiet and scenic environment, combined with the practical services and exceptional guest care, makes Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park a strong contender when searching for "RV parks near me" in this beautiful part of Southern California.

Stagecoach Trails Campground & RV Park Reviews
Mike and Josh are amazing! I am hiking the PCT and after 77 miles this was a perfect place to recoup and relax before getting on the Trail again. They assisted me in all my needs and I couldn't be more thankful for this place. Also if you are long distance PCT thru hiker you get a free ice cream which was incredible.
May 05, 2025 · Taryn BowenAs a PCT hiker, this was a perfect little find for us during our travels. The 2 person cabin was everything we could need to stay out of the wind. Not to mention hot showers, laundry, easy food (including resupply) and great milkshakes! Some of the best hospitality I’ve had in a while!!
Apr 27, 2025 · Kathleen NealonSurprised to find this location having so many awesome options after we were looking for a grocery store and finding only convenience stores. It's on the PCT so it makes sense that it has a lot of camping things, but even mini laundry detergent and other items. Rad! My son really enjoyed the pizza. Wood bundles were expensive-ish but very convenient so worth it. Nice staff too!
Dec 28, 2024 · LindseyFood I bought here tasted funny, when I checked it it was past it's best before date by 3 years!!! Be very careful buying food here or avoid if possible.
Mar 15, 2025 · Conor LynnWe have just taken a couple of nights off the PCT trail to rest up and let our feet heal, and we couldn't have found a better place to do just that. The showers are great, bathrooms always clean and tidy. Laundry room is great, and that swimming pool is the cherry on the cake. Major wasp issue around the pool due to a nest on the corner of the building beside the pool. Owners notified, so I'm sure that will be resolved. Lovely staff, great place to hang out.
