Pinecrest Retreat Introduce
Looking for "RV parks near me" in the scenic Julian, California area? Pinecrest Retreat, located at 3936 CA-79, Julian, CA 92036, offers a unique blend of accommodation options, including RV sites and a distinctive A-Frame rental. You can reach them for inquiries and reservations at (760) 765-0464 or their mobile line +1 760-765-0464. Based on customer reviews, Pinecrest Retreat provides a rustic and conveniently located base for exploring the Julian area and its natural attractions.
The environment at Pinecrest Retreat is described as having a "rustic vibe" and a "vintage campground" feel. This suggests a more traditional and perhaps less modern camping experience, which can be appealing to those seeking a connection with nature and a break from more amenity-heavy resorts. The retreat's location is a significant advantage, as it is situated just "5 minutes to town" (Julian) and "10 minutes to the William Heise or Volcan mountain trailheads." This proximity offers easy access to Julian's charming shops, restaurants, and famous apple pie, as well as the outdoor recreational opportunities available at William Heise County Park and the Volcan Mountain Wilderness Preserve, including hiking and exploring diverse ecosystems.
Pinecrest Retreat offers more than just RV sites. One reviewer who opted for the "A-Frame" accommodation described it as "perfect" for their needs when unexpected rain disrupted their camping plans. The A-Frame rental is highlighted for its "vintage interior decorating/fixtures," adding to its rustic charm. Notably, it is equipped with a "well appointed kitchen (better than most VRBO's we stay in)," making it ideal for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals. Additional features of the A-Frame include a "backyard BBQ," a "fire cauldron," and a "sitting area," perfect for outdoor relaxation and enjoying the mountain air. The interior also boasts a "really comfortable" bed, "puzzles and games," "extra blankets," and "tons of appliances," ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay.
In terms of services, the management at Pinecrest Retreat receives positive feedback for their responsiveness and helpfulness. One reviewer recounted an error with their reservation dates, emailing "Jill" in the morning and having the issue "straightened everything out" promptly. This efficient and accommodating service demonstrates a commitment to guest satisfaction.
However, one review provides a more mixed perspective regarding the amenities. While the reviewer noted an "overall a good experience" at the "vintage campground," they pointed out a discrepancy with the advertised pool. The pool was "advertised as heated," but the reviewer found that "the only heat comes from the sun." This could be a point of consideration for guests expecting a heated pool, especially during cooler times of the year. The same reviewer also mentioned an issue with "many unsupervised children cursing and splashing close to other guests," which could impact the tranquility of the pool area for some visitors. This suggests that while the park offers a pool, the experience might vary depending on the time of day and the behavior of other guests.
Considering the platform category "RV parks near me," Pinecrest Retreat offers RV sites in a convenient location near Julian and popular natural attractions. The availability of the A-Frame rental provides a unique alternative for those who might be traveling without an RV or prefer a cabin-style accommodation. The rustic environment and vintage charm could appeal to visitors seeking a more traditional outdoor experience.

Pinecrest Retreat Reviews
My daughter and I were planning to camp this weekend in Julian but the rain was coming in and we went in search of a place to stay that was close to town and the William Heise County park and found the A-Frame at the Pinecrest retreat. It was perfect. Rustic vibe, vintage interior decorating/fixtures and complete with a well appointed kitchen (better than most VRBO's we stay in), backyard BBQ, fire cauldron and sitting area. The bed was really comfortable and there were puzzles and games as well as extra blankets and tons of appliances. I even screwed up the original dates on my reservation and emailed Jill in the morning and she made the adjustment and straightened everything out. 5 minutes to town and 10 minutes to the William Heise or Volcan mountain trailheads, this was an amazing find. Highly recommended.
Apr 21, 2025 · Derek PrestonWe enjoyed our stay at the vintage campground. The pool was advertised as heated, but the only heat comes from the sun. Many unsupervised children cursing and splashing close to other guests. Overall a good experience.
Sep 01, 2024 · St. JimmyThis place is the place. It’s got class, charm, tranquility, nostalgia…all with superior service, cleanliness, exquisite taste, and thoughtful grace. If you’re looking for a place with AC, modern flair, kick a** WiFi, and room service, this is not your place. Those places exist aplenty, but this isn’t it. If you don’t like wood paneled walls, giant pools, bespoke trailers plucked from time 74 years ago, nature (and all the awesome natural things that come with true nature), this is not your place. For the rest of us that love silent, no frills luxury away from the city; for those of us that miss the finer things in life, and can make do with a pool and rotating fan on a hot day with a cocktail in hand (byob, but no glass), this is the place.
Jun 06, 2024 · Lucky PettersenWe stayed for President's Day weekend in February 2024 as a surprise bday getaway from the hubs. The rooms were clean, comfortable, warm, and felt like home. The little touches here and there, like the tampons in the bathroom, Bluetooth connection to the bumping speakers in the living room and the comfy bed sheets made it feel inviting. We didn't want to leave. We preferred this location over staying in downtown Julian since it can get crowded and seems like you get more property than the usual bed and breakfast room. I would not recommend this property for small children as it has stairs that I myself had to be careful, especially at night when using the bathroom. It has no TV as it's a cabin like feel but has central air. The area felt safe, quiet, would love to stay here again.
Feb 18, 2024 · Jennifer AbregoThis review is in regards to the vintage trailers. Pinecrest is a beautiful location, and the vintage trailers have a lot of potential. We stayed in September and it definitely was very hot. I wish that all of the trailers had AC.I was disappointed to learn that the trailers don't lock from the outside. They tell you to keep your valuables in your car. A. This is inconvenient, B. I am not sure if the spartan locked from the inside either. I feel like the locks are something that they should definitely invest in fixing. The spartan also has a very small water heater. I think that they told us 2 gallons when we called. I couldn't even get through a shower without it running out. We called because we thought maybe it could be fixed but they let us know the water heater is small but they have public showers available. Since it was hot I toughed it out.My brother stayed in the mansion and it had a bad smell in it. It bothered his girlfriend a lot. They did have AC and their hot water was fine. Their trailer also did not lock from the outside. The trailers are cute, and we liked the vintage decor but they need some work done. I feel like their trailers have a lot of potential if they would just invest in them a bit. My husband and I stayed at another location that had vintage trailers. They were definitely nicer. AC, hot water, new linoleum, locks and keys, and did not have a bad smell. I hope that pinecrest can improve their vintage trailers. I think that if they improved them they would have a lot more return business.
