Renegade 38ft - These are first come sites but we took a chance on the way to the Tetons. Probably five sites that we could have fit, comfortably & fairly level. We got site 9 and leveling was easy. Typical NFS sitesvery spacious from your neighbors, just the way I like it. Like a good neighborstay over there. Squirrels & Chipmunks for entertainment. Quiet, except for some highway noise. Didnt see any deer, elk, etc but there was a stream back if our site. Some chug holes on the way in but manageable. We stayed Monday - Sunday last of September. Campers came for one night stop overswe were the only consistent campers for the week.Cell phone service is Zilch. 150mbs on Starlink. Afton is 20 miles away with a large grocery store & Tractor Supply (propane)what more do you need?No water or trash receptacle. Hand driven water spigot did not work. No dump either. We camped at Bridger-Teton National Forest - Allred Flat Campground in a Motorhome. - Ron Gaddis

Allred Flat Campground Introduce

Are you a local outdoor enthusiast in search of serene "camping near me" that offers a genuine connection with nature without the crowds? Look no further than Allred Flat Campground, nestled within the expansive Bridger-Teton National Forest at 10131 Forest Rd, Kelly, WY 83011, USA. You can reach them at (307) 739-5500 or +1 307-739-5500 for general inquiries, although it's important to note that this is a first-come, first-served campground, so reservations are not typically taken.

Based on feedback from fellow campers, Allred Flat Campground presents a tranquil and spacious environment, ideal for those seeking a more secluded "camping near me" experience. One visitor in a 38ft RV noted that there were "probably five sites that we could have fit, comfortably & fairly level," highlighting the generous size of the campsites. They secured site 9 and found leveling to be straightforward. The campground is described as having "typical NFS sites—very spacious from your neighbors, just the way I like it," emphasizing the privacy and space between campsites, allowing for a more immersive and peaceful connection with the natural surroundings. This spacing truly embodies the feeling of escaping into the wilderness while still having a designated camping area.

The environment of Allred Flat Campground is further characterized by its natural beauty. Situated in a "narrow forested draw," the majority of the 32 campsites are shaded, offering a welcome respite from the sun, especially during warmer months. While large wildlife like deer and elk were not directly observed by one reviewer, the presence of a stream near at least one campsite suggests the potential for encountering local fauna and enjoying the soothing sounds of flowing water. The abundance of squirrels and chipmunks provides entertainment for nature lovers and adds to the overall charm of the campground.

While the natural ambiance is a major draw, it's important for those considering "camping near me" at Allred Flat Campground to be aware of the limited amenities. Reviews consistently mention the lack of certain conveniences. There is "no water or trash receptacle" provided, and the "hand driven water spigot did not work" during at least one visitor's stay. Additionally, there is "no dump" station available. Therefore, campers need to be fully self-sufficient, bringing their own water supply and having a plan for managing their trash and wastewater. This more primitive camping experience caters to those who are comfortable with a "leave no trace" approach and are well-prepared for off-grid camping.

In terms of accessibility, one reviewer noted "some chug holes on the way in but manageable," suggesting that while the road to the campground might have some minor rough spots, it is generally navigable. This is good news for those traveling with RVs or trailers, though caution should always be exercised on unpaved forest roads. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, which means there's an element of chance involved in securing a site, especially during peak season or weekends. However, one visitor who stayed during the last week of September observed that while there were campers coming for one-night stopovers, they were the only consistent campers for the week, indicating that availability might be better during the shoulder seasons.

Connectivity is another factor to consider. Reviewers reported "Cell phone service is Zilch" in the area. This can be a significant consideration for those who need to stay connected. However, one camper mentioned achieving "150mbs on Starlink" at their site, suggesting that satellite internet might be an option for those who have the equipment and need reliable internet access. For those looking to truly disconnect and immerse themselves in nature, the lack of cell service can be a welcome feature.

Despite its remote feel, Allred Flat Campground is reasonably accessible to essential services. The town of Afton is located about 20 miles away and offers a "large grocery store & Tractor Supply (propane)," providing convenient access to supplies for those needing to restock during their camping trip. This balance of remoteness and proximity to necessities can be appealing for local campers who want a wilderness experience without being completely isolated.

The cost of camping at Allred Flat Campground is remarkably affordable. One review mentioned a fee of "Only $10/$5 senior" with a 14-day limit. This makes it an exceptionally budget-friendly option for "camping near me" in a stunning natural location. The self-service nature and lack of extensive amenities likely contribute to this low cost, making it an attractive choice for cost-conscious campers who prioritize the natural environment and spacious campsites over developed facilities.

It's worth noting that while there is no campground host on-site, some campsites are equipped with bear boxes for safe food storage. This is an important feature in bear country and underscores the need for campers to be aware of and follow proper bear safety protocols. The presence of vault toilets indicates basic sanitation facilities are available, although they lack the convenience of flush toilets.

In conclusion, Allred Flat Campground in Bridger-Teton National Forest offers local users a fantastic opportunity for an affordable and tranquil "camping near me" experience. Its spacious, shaded, and well-separated first-come, first-served campsites provide a sense of privacy and immersion in a beautiful forested environment near the Teton mountain range. While the campground lacks amenities such as potable water, trash receptacles, and a dump station, making self-sufficiency essential, its natural beauty, quiet atmosphere (aside from some highway noise), and budget-friendly cost make it an appealing choice for well-prepared campers seeking a more primitive and authentic outdoor experience. The proximity to services in Afton (20 miles away) offers a degree of convenience without detracting from the campground's natural charm. If you value spacious campsites, a peaceful setting, and are comfortable with a more rustic camping style, Allred Flat Campground is a hidden gem worth exploring for your next "camping near me" adventure.
