Altamont Group Campground is specifically designed to accommodate large groups, making it an excellent choice for family reunions, celebrations, and organized camping excursions. One of its key features is a large parking lot, providing ample space and easy accessibility even for Recreational Vehicles (RVs). This eliminates the stress of navigating tight spaces and ensures that all members of your group can comfortably arrive and settle in. For those who prefer tent camping, the campground offers designated tent camping spots, allowing for a more traditional outdoor experience. The combination of RV accessibility and tent sites provides flexibility to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of your group.
Beyond the camping facilities themselves, Altamont Group Campground offers access to a variety of recreational activities. A nearby reservoir presents opportunities for leisurely canoeing and peaceful rafting. While motorized boating is not permitted, the calm waters are perfect for enjoying the scenery from a different perspective and engaging in gentle water activities. One of the standout features highlighted by past visitors is the presence of a large pavilion within the campground. While the beauty and amenities of Altamont Group Campground are undeniable, it's important to be aware of certain aspects mentioned by previous visitors. The drive up to the campground is described as "awful" by one reviewer, noting the steepness of the road, areas where it narrows significantly, and the presence of rock falls. It is crucial for drivers to exercise caution and be prepared for potentially challenging road conditions, especially when navigating with larger vehicles or during inclement weather. Additionally, being situated in the mountains means that nighttime temperatures can drop significantly, so it is advisable to pack layers of clothing and appropriate bedding to ensure a comfortable night's sleep.

Its prime location within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, coupled with its facilities designed for large groups, makes it an exceptional choice for family reunions, weddings, and gatherings of friends. Altamont Group Campground Reviews
Loved It! It's a private campground for groups in American Fork Canyon, Utah. We had our family reunion there with about 45 in our party. Camped 3 nights and 4 days. It has a large parking lot easily accessible for RV's. Tent camping spots also available. Near by is a reservoir where you can use canoes, rafts but no motorized boating. Hiked Cascade Springs is about a 20 minute drive away. Lots of hiking trails and gorgeous scenery!
Jul 28, 2017 · Ellen RobinsonThis is such a beautiful camp site! It is surrounded by aspens and has a beautiful view of the mountains. My sister got married here and it was just the most beautiful place for a wedding. It has a big pavilion and lots of parking and lots of room to camp if you wanted to too. It would be the perfect place for a reunion, a party, or a wedding. Warning though that it is an awful drive up, with the rock falls and how steep it is and in some places the road gets really small. It does get cold at night too being that it is in the mountains.
