Granite Flat Campground Introduce
For local Utah residents and those seeking a well-regarded family camping experience near Provo, Granite Flat Campground emerges as a highly recommended destination. Featured prominently in the 'camping near me' category, this campground is consistently praised for its beautiful scenery, enjoyable trails, and clean facilities, making it a popular choice for families looking to create lasting outdoor memories. However, potential visitors should also be aware of the campground's primary focus on RV camping and the potential for noise from other campers.
The environment at Granite Flat Campground is a significant draw for visitors. The scenery is repeatedly described as lovely, contributing to a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. While the campsites themselves are noted to be close together, the presence of dense foliage effectively provides an illusion of privacy, allowing campers to feel more secluded within their individual spaces. This thoughtful natural landscaping enhances the overall camping experience, offering a sense of tranquility despite the proximity of other sites. The campground's setting also boasts a beautiful river that meanders through the area, adding to the scenic charm and providing opportunities for leisurely exploration along its banks. Furthermore, the campground's location offers easy access to fun trails, catering to those who enjoy hiking and exploring the surrounding natural beauty.
Granite Flat Campground is particularly well-equipped to accommodate RVs, with most of its campsites ideally designed for recreational vehicles. While this makes it an excellent choice for RV travelers, tent campers should be aware that many sites may not be optimally configured for traditional tent setups. One resourceful camper shared their experience of needing to do some minor landscaping at their spot to comfortably accommodate a larger family tent, suggesting that tent campers might need to be adaptable or carefully select their site based on their tent size and the terrain. However, this same reviewer noted that their adjusted spot is now well-suited for future tent camping as well.
The amenities at Granite Flat Campground are a significant highlight, particularly the bathrooms, which are described by multiple visitors as being exceptionally clean – "some of the cleanest we've experienced at any campground." This high standard of cleanliness for restroom facilities greatly contributes to the overall comfort and satisfaction of campers. Additionally, the campground's location offers convenient access to a variety of recreational activities beyond the campsite itself. Nearby, visitors can find baseball and volleyball fields, providing opportunities for sports and active recreation. The beautiful river that flows through the campground offers fishing opportunities for anglers. Moreover, a nearby lake reservoir provides additional options for fishing and swimming, expanding the range of activities available to campers of all ages.
Despite the many positive aspects, one recurring concern mentioned by a visitor is the issue of noise. They reported that some campers were "raucous" – yelling and driving loud vehicles – until well after midnight, which detracted from the peacefulness of the camping experience. While this may not be a consistent issue for all visitors, it's something to be aware of, especially for those seeking a quiet and restful night's sleep. It might be advisable to inquire about campground quiet hours and to potentially choose a site that is slightly more removed from common areas or larger groups, if possible.
The consistent positive feedback and the reviewer's intention to return, even sharing their positive experience under a different account, serve as strong implicit promotional endorsements for Granite Flat Campground. The description of it as a "very good family campground" further highlights its appeal to those camping with children. The abundance of nearby activities, from sports fields to fishing and swimming, adds to its attractiveness as a destination that caters to a wide range of interests within a family.
In summary, Granite Flat Campground near Provo, Utah, offers a scenic and amenity-rich camping experience, particularly well-suited for RVs and families. Its beautiful environment, private-feeling campsites due to dense foliage, access to fun trails, and exceptionally clean bathrooms are consistently praised. The proximity to a river within the campground and nearby opportunities for baseball, volleyball, fishing, and swimming at a lake reservoir provide ample recreational options. However, tent campers should be mindful of the RV-centric site design and might need to select their spot carefully. Additionally, potential noise from other campers, particularly late at night, is a factor to consider. Despite this, the overall positive reviews and the range of activities available make Granite Flat Campground a strong contender within the 'camping near me' category for those seeking a family-friendly outdoor getaway near Provo.

Granite Flat Campground Reviews
I already shared my experience here under a different account but was so pleased with this campground I decided it deserved another great review. We loved to scenery, the privacy of our spot, the fun trails, the accommodations... This is a very good family campground. Be aware that most of their spots are ideally for RVs and most aren't designed for tents. In our spot, I ended up doing a bit of landscaping to accommodate our larger family tent but now our spot is ready for next time too. There is much to do nearby, from baseball and volleyball fields to a beautiful river that cuts through the campground. There is fishing and swimming at a nearby lake reservoir too. The bathrooms are some of the cleanest we've experienced at any campground. You won't be disappointed with the campground.

Oct 18, 2022 · Tyler AbbottWe have done group camps two years and always enjoy being able to get away from everything. No cell reception so you have to make sure people know where it is so they don’t get lost on the way up (which always seems to happen with a few people). We have stayed at the site Stone Mason both times and its big enough to accomodate large groups. We like how you can camp so we always stay. There is a hiking trail right in front of the assigned parking lot for the site so you can always go do a hike if you want to. The only reason I’m giving it a four star is because the bathrooms smelled quite awful were a bit dirty and there is no garbage collection which is always a problem since most people think its a given that they don’t need to take their garbage with them when they leave and the ones who do stay the night are stuck trying to figure out a way to take it and sometimes that’s hard since you are already packing a lot for the camp out so I wish you could just clean the area and have the garbage collected as part of the service. We payed $300 for the site so it seems like something as basic as garbage collection would be provided but nonetheless we always enjoy the time we spend here with friends and family and will always consider this spot as an option since we do this gathering annually.
Aug 05, 2019 · Roxana OrtizCamp grounds are really nice, no complaints. Firewood is obviously gonna be overpriced, so bring your own. Place is swarming with mosquitoes due to stagnant water that’s standing around the campgrounds likely from excessive runoff this year. They should close the flooded campgrounds, but otherwise, very nice.
Jul 18, 2023 · mitchie the kidWe had a large group site for the day. It was clean, fun, near a large area to play and of course a beautiful stream to be near and play in. The kids loved it and we did also.
