Bayview North Campground Introduce
Searching for "camping near me" in the Concrete, Washington vicinity? Bayview North Campground, located in Concrete, WA 98237, USA, presents a mixed picture based on recent camper reviews. While praised for its cleanliness, quiet atmosphere, and proximity to Baker Lake's day-use facilities and well-groomed trails, some campers have noted drawbacks such as the absence of water at the campsites and a significant amount of gravel. Let's delve into the environment, services, and features of Bayview North Campground to help local users determine if it aligns with their camping preferences.
The Environment: Lakeside Proximity with a Catch
Bayview North Campground is situated near the beautiful Baker Lake, a significant environmental asset that attracts many visitors to the area. The campground boasts "really nice day use facilities, like a shelter right on the lake," indicating that while the campsites themselves might not be directly on the water, campers have access to lakeside amenities for daytime enjoyment. This shelter could provide a valuable space for picnics, gatherings, or simply enjoying the views of Baker Lake.
The campsites are described as "away from the lake," which is an important distinction for those hoping for immediate waterfront access from their site. However, the campsites are noted to be "really large and fairly separated from one another," offering a good degree of privacy between camping parties. This spaciousness and separation can contribute to a more peaceful and less crowded feel within the campground itself.
One camper mentioned "too much gravel" at the campsites, which might affect the comfort for tent campers in particular. This is a factor to consider for those who prefer softer ground for their tents or for general comfort around their campsite.
On a positive note, the area features "well-groomed trails," suggesting opportunities for hiking and exploring the natural surroundings. One reviewer specifically mentioned enjoying a nice walk on these trails with their family and dog. The overall environment appears to be conducive to outdoor activities and enjoying the beauty of the Baker Lake region.
One reviewer, while not entirely satisfied with the campground itself for an overnight stay given the cost, suggested that camping at the River Trailhead further up the lake might be a better option, potentially free with nice campsites and views. This implies that the general area around Baker Lake offers various camping possibilities, and Bayview North is just one of them.
Services: Cleanliness and Day-Use Amenities, but No Water at Sites
Bayview North Campground is described as "nice and clean," which is a significant positive aspect for any camping location. The well-maintained condition contributes to a more enjoyable and comfortable experience for visitors.
The presence of "really nice day use facilities, like a shelter right on the lake" is a notable service, providing a communal space for lake access and enjoyment. This could be particularly appealing for those planning day activities around Baker Lake.
However, a significant drawback mentioned by a reviewer is that there is "no water" at the campsites. This means campers would need to bring their own water supply for drinking, cooking, and cleaning, or potentially rely on water available at the day-use facilities, if any. This lack of water at individual sites is a crucial factor to consider when planning a trip to Bayview North Campground.
The cost was also mentioned, with one reviewer stating they paid "$60 for a single night," which they felt was not justified given the lack of water at the sites. This suggests that the pricing might be perceived as high relative to the amenities offered.
While the reviews don't explicitly mention other services like restrooms, fire pits, or picnic tables at the campsites, the general nature of campgrounds usually includes these basic amenities. However, the lack of mention might indicate that these are standard and not particularly noteworthy, or that further inquiry might be needed to confirm their quality and availability.
Features: Spacious Private Sites, Lake Access via Day-Use Area, and Trails
Bayview North Campground offers a combination of features that might appeal to certain types of campers:
- Spacious and Fairly Separated Campsites: Providing privacy and room to spread out.
- Access to Baker Lake Day-Use Facilities: Including a shelter right on the lake.
- Well-Groomed Hiking Trails: Offering opportunities for scenic walks and exploration.
- Clean Campground Environment: Contributing to a more pleasant stay.
- Quiet Atmosphere: Potentially more peaceful than other campgrounds in the area.
However, potential campers should also be aware of the features that some might see as drawbacks:
- No Water at Campsites: Requiring campers to bring their own water.
- Gravel Ground at Campsites: Possibly less comfortable for tent camping.
- Campsites Away from the Lake: No direct waterfront access from the camping areas.
- Potentially Higher Cost: As noted by one reviewer.

Bayview North Campground Reviews
I don’t know…. Not my favorite campground. No water and too much gravel, if that makes any sense. It has really nice day use facilities, like a shelter right on the lake. The campsites are away from the lake, and they are really large and fairly separated from one another. But I think we paid $60 for a single night. In all honesty, if I had it to do over again, I would have driven further up the lake and camped at the River Trailhead. I don’t think there is any cost, and the campsites are as nice, and have a view.
Aug 27, 2023 · Brett PooleOut on a nice walk with the wife and dog on one of the well-groomed trails. Had a wonderful 5 nights this time around. Will be back in 2 weeks for a couple more nights. This campground is nice and clean and much quieter than many of the others.
Aug 12, 2023 · Bryan HansonWe stayed a full week at Bayview group North site. Very private. We had 6 Rvs and 1 person in a tent. Bathroom were as good as a vault toilet gets. The water was too high so no access from campsite. Here is the kicker. Like others have stated the campground is full of mice. You don't see them but they got in 2 of the rvs and back seat of a newer truck. Take precautions!
Aug 27, 2023 · Diane WisecarverCampsite 8 was an awesome, private spot. Really perfect for our pop up camper and so level we didn't really have to adjust the camper at all. The downside was 2 things: 1) camper hist was over at Horseshoe Cove so it was harder to get firewood, and 2) no private access Lake spots. Everything is public sp there was not a lot of places to set up to enjoy the lake. Next time we will go back to Horseshoe for private beach access. The bathrooms were super clean though!
Aug 09, 2022 · Leah CuneoShut down a bunch of free spots and mostly just have $30+ reservation spots. Greedy! This is a poor man's vacation and it used to only cost gas and food. Now, it is $90+ to sleep in the woods for 3 days.
