Beachcomber Camping Resort Introduce
For local users exploring the "camping near me" category, Beachcomber Camping Resort, located at 462 Seashore Rd, Cape May, NJ 08204, USA, presents a coastal camping option with a mix of positive and negative recent customer experiences. Situated in the popular vacation destination of Cape May, this resort offers proximity to the seashore and various amenities that could appeal to families and individuals seeking a local camping adventure.
The environment of Beachcomber Camping Resort appears to be a significant draw for some visitors. One reviewer who stayed in May 2024 described the "grounds" as excellent and appreciated the walkability between different camping arrangements (sites and nearby rented cabins). The presence of a "great lake" suggests opportunities for water-related activities, although the specifics of these activities (e.g., swimming, fishing, boating) are not detailed. Cape May's coastal location implies that the campground is likely near beaches and the ocean, offering the quintessential Jersey Shore experience. However, another recent review raises concerns about the water quality within the campground, describing the smell as "nasty sewer water," which understandably caused the guests to avoid showering or using the water. This discrepancy in environmental perception is crucial for local users to consider. The first review's positive mention of the grounds and lake suggests a potentially pleasant outdoor setting, while the second review paints a concerning picture of water quality issues within the resort itself.
The services at Beachcomber Camping Resort seem to cater to families, as highlighted by the positive review mentioning "plenty to keep our family and this toddler occupied." This suggests amenities and activities suitable for young children. The presence of a "great pool" is another significant service, offering a recreational alternative to the lake or ocean. The review also praises the "friendly staff," indicating a positive interaction with some members of the resort team. However, the more recent negative review directly contradicts this, describing the staff as "rude and seemed annoyed," particularly when addressing a concern about an ant infestation. This inconsistency in staff experience is something local users should be aware of. The availability of walkable sites and nearby cabin rentals suggests flexibility in accommodation options for groups or families with varying preferences. The negative review also mentions the lack of an on-site maintenance person to address the ant problem, raising concerns about the responsiveness of the resort to guest issues. It's unclear if standard campground services like restroom facilities, water hookups, electrical hookups, or waste disposal are consistently well-maintained given the conflicting reports on staff attentiveness and water quality.
The features of Beachcomber Camping Resort, based on the positive review, include a "great pool" and a "great lake," both offering recreational opportunities. The fact that relatives could camp at another site but still be within walking distance suggests a layout that accommodates groups staying in different types of accommodations. The availability of nearby cabin rentals provides an alternative to traditional camping for those who prefer more comfort. The negative review, however, points to significant negative features such as "ants all over the counter and around the bunk beds" in the rental units, indicating potential pest control issues. The lack of immediate maintenance to address this problem is also a concerning feature. The "nasty water smell" is another significant negative feature that would severely impact the comfort and hygiene of guests. The reviewer also mentions a camp store or office where check-in occurs and where they reported the ant issue. The discrepancy between the two reviews highlights the potential for variability in the quality and maintenance of the resort's features. Local users should weigh the reported positive amenities against the serious concerns raised in the negative review regarding cleanliness and staff responsiveness.
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category in the Cape May area, Beachcomber Camping Resort offers a location with potential access to the beach and other local attractions that make Cape May a popular destination. The mention of a pool and lake could be appealing to families with children. However, the stark contrast in recent customer experiences is a critical factor to consider. The positive review from May 2024 suggests a pleasant family camping trip with good amenities and friendly staff. In contrast, a more recent review details significant issues with rude staff, a foul-smelling water supply, and an ant infestation in a rental unit that was not adequately addressed. Local users should be cautious and perhaps seek more recent reviews or information to get a clearer picture of the current state of the resort.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not contain any details about current specials, discounts, or packages offered by Beachcomber Camping Resort. To obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any ongoing promotions, local users should contact the resort directly using the provided phone numbers: (609) 886-6035 or +1 609-886-6035. When calling, it would be prudent to inquire about the resort's policies on pest control, water quality, and maintenance response, given the recent negative feedback. Asking about any guarantees or procedures in place to address such issues could also be beneficial. Checking if they have a website or social media presence might provide additional information about current deals or recent updates from the resort management regarding the issues raised in the negative review.
In conclusion, Beachcomber Camping Resort in Cape May, NJ, presents a local "camping near me" option with amenities like a pool and lake that could appeal to families. However, recent customer reviews offer a mixed picture. While one guest had an excellent experience, another reported significant issues with rude staff, foul-smelling water, and an unresolved ant infestation. Local users considering Beachcomber Camping Resort should be aware of these conflicting reports and are strongly encouraged to contact the resort directly at (609) 886-6035 or +1 609-886-6035 to inquire about the current conditions, their policies on cleanliness and maintenance, and any available promotions before making a booking decision. Seeking additional recent reviews from various sources might also provide a more balanced perspective on the current state of the resort.

Beachcomber Camping Resort Reviews
We stayed here May 2024 for our son's first time camping in it was excellent. We love the grounds and the amenities, plenty to keep our family and this toddler occupied. Some relatives camped at another site but still walkable. Others we rented cabins nearby. We all had a good time here. Great pool, great lake, friendly staff, clean campground. Really would like to be seasonal here some day.
Apr 04, 2025 · Sean McCarthyWe were just there and check out was this morning. The Beach family. Honestly, The staff was rude and seemed annoyed. We came in with our kids for a weekend trip. My husband and I have stayed here the year before with no issues. The water smells like nasty sewer water. So we were afraid to shower and use the water at all. There were ants all over the counter and around the bunk beds where our kids were sleeping. My husband went to check in and to tell the office lady about the ant problem she acted very annoyed. She said yes there are ants so keep your food stored away. How dare you tell your guests that. We are paying to stay there for the weekend and you should be keeping your rental units bug free. Would you stay in a bug infested house or cabin? There was obviously an infestation and they know about it. Also, the lady said there wasn’t a maintenance person on hand so basically oh well there is nothing they could do anyway. The staff is just rude and too busy smoking to care for their guests. We will never go back!! If you’re cutting corners with ants and don’t care about that what else are you secretly allowing and not caring about. The nasty water smell is also gross and completely unacceptable.I read other reviews with similar experiences so I know we aren’t alone.
Mar 16, 2025 · Rebecca SmileyMy wife’s family had a place in here for 20+ years, i’ve been going there for over 10+ years. never once had a problem but always heard of people having issues with the security guards making up stuff to get them kicked out [one family being our friends inside the campground]. the staff i will say has always always been rude, inside behind the counter they are all rude, the security guards are all D**** but we never made any issues of it or had any “strikes”. when the security guard Don got hired there everyone and i mean everyone could not stand him. Long story short the trash in the camp ground everyone picks through sometimes someone can use something someone threw out very normal for a campground and every-time i took the trash up someone was taking something they could use, well one day someone threw out a porch swing that had a good frame which we had a porch swing but the frame was bad so i took it from trash and swapped frames and threw ours in the trash, Don apparently watch me on cameras and went to our camper which we where not there as we where at beach with our kids, our mother in law was there and he said we had to bring it back up, we came home from beach late and had dinner and went to board walk, Don than came back to our camper at 730 AM pounding on the door wanting me to throw it back in the trash, which we where sleeping but my mother in law was up and said i would bring it up when we get up, when we woke up shortly after i brought it back up to the trash. later that morning we where driving around for our morning coffee golf cart drive with the kids and sure enough Don flags us down on the golf cart and starts yelling at me and pointing his finger in my face, so of course i dont know who he thinks he is but that’s not going to stand by any man so we exchanged words and that was it. 30 minutes later the cops are at our camper and Don the maintenance/security guard told them i swung on him. i’m 6ft 3, 240lbs, Don is 5ft 5, 350lbs. if i swung at him trust me he would be hard to miss but that never happened. the cops said the owners wanted us gone right away because of this but it was a lie it never happened, i went to talk to the owners right away and they REFUSED to speak with us. there was multiple witnesses which i had the cops talk to to prove it was never physical and Don started the whole aggressive behavior but the cops still said the owners didn’t want to hear it, Unbelievable, over 20 years there. never any issues, the cops even laughed at it but said they can’t do anything because the owners want us gone. clearly if it swung at him i would have left in cuffs but didn’t because it never happened and had many witnesses of ppl outside and Don refused to come talk to me and the cops. All this over a frame to a porch swing and a security guard who is a complete liar. overall such a disgrace, would never recommend anyone to stay here. my in laws sold there place because of the amount of disrespect from the owners and way we where treated. I firmly believe all the stories i’ve heard through the years there. Do not go there.
May 04, 2025 · Robert LocastroOur family visited over Halloween weekend. There was so many problems and it’s so unfortunate. First checking in everybody that worked at beachcomber that we ran into seemed very annoyed by the fact that we were arriving instead of excited to greet us or welcome us to the campground. Next we got to our site and opened up our park model to find a fire alarm in the house to have a dead battery and a constant dead battery beep. We contacted the office they said someone would be out to fix it. An hour later of beeping we call again because nobody came and we were again told someone would be out and to be patient essentially. By 10pm we knew nobody was coming so I removed the fire alarm from the ceiling so we could go to sleep without the constant beeping. Going to bed was the next thing that kind of stunk. The bed was AWFUL and I mean AWFUL!! You couldn’t even move on the mattress without tons of noise coming from the springs and the plastic covering that is on the mattress. The next problem we found was that both the mini splits in the park model did not work which was not a huge deal because it’s October so we opened a window and didn’t sweat to death but it is an inconvenience. The next morning woke up to shower and found the shower head loose and leaking. Fixed the the shower and go to use the bathroom and the toilet won’t work. The toilet will not flush and found the float getting stuck repaired that myself because again maintenance just doesn’t come when you call. Also found while trying to cook breakfast that both the left side burners on the stopetop did not work and the igniter was broken. Next leaving the house and headed to the park to play came across several employees who again were very rude when trying to interact with them at all. Also the make you sign a form that it is a 5mph speed limit however apparently that doesn’t apply if you work there or if your riding a golf cart. The employees driving through the park or the kids driving golf carts through the park fly around corners and down streets. Some positives that I’d like to note. We went during the Halloween weekend and the haunted house/houses they setup and did was awesome! Super fun and very cool to experience and all the festivities they had for the Halloween weekend were a blast. Also during the summer I can imagine it being a blast to enjoy the nice lake they have on the property. The campground is also VERY clean which is awesome and the staff was on top of getting the trash and cleaning up trash from what I saw. From the experience I had I probably would never return to this campground and honestly would not recommend it to anyone especially if they are renting and not traveling in their own RV.
Oct 29, 2024 · FatBatmanNice campground. Very family oriented with LOTS of activities for the kids. Not the quietest campground until 11pm. Sites are decent size lots of shade/tree covered. Most sites are permanents and roadways getting in are very narrow and NOT big rig friendly. If you are over 40' be cautious its tough. Staff was helpful.
