King Nummy Trail Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Cape May Court House, New Jersey area, King Nummy Trail Campground, located at 205 NJ-47 South, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210, presents itself as an option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground appears to have a unique character with both positive and negative aspects that potential visitors should consider. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the environment, services, and features as described by those who have stayed there.
A Campground with a Significant Permanent Resident Community
One of the most prominent features highlighted in the reviews is the high percentage of permanent residents at King Nummy Trail Campground. One reviewer estimates that approximately 90% of the sites are occupied by permanent residences, describing them as "hard sided camper with a single wide trailer park trailer shimmied up next to it," often with additions like gardens and decks. This characteristic significantly shapes the environment of the campground, potentially fostering a strong sense of community among the long-term residents, as indicated by one former long-term visitor who mentioned close relationships and shared holidays within the "Lenape section." However, this also means that the atmosphere might differ from a traditional transient campground primarily catering to short-term campers.
Cabin Rentals Offering Basic Amenities
For short-term visitors, King Nummy Trail Campground offers cabin rentals. According to one reviewer who stayed in a cabin over Memorial Day weekend, these rentals met basic needs, providing "lights/outlet, AC, and mini fridge," along with unexpected additions like a TV and a personal water spigot. The availability of air conditioning can be a significant plus during the warmer months. However, it's important to note that the experience in the cabin area was not entirely positive.
Reported Lack of Maintenance and Site Conditions
A significant concern raised by a cabin renter was the apparent lack of maintenance throughout the campground. The reviewer specifically mentioned that at their cabin site, the "picnic table/fire pit" were unusable due to "2 foot tall weeds covering the entire area," and noted that this was "consistent throughout the entire campground." Such overgrown vegetation could detract from the usability and enjoyment of the individual campsites and common areas. This suggests that potential visitors should be prepared for possibly unkempt grounds.
Furthermore, the same reviewer highlighted a challenging parking situation at the cabin sites. With "no cars...allowed to park along the road," they had to "literally...back our car right up to the fire pit to get it off of the road" to access their cabin area. This lack of designated parking near the cabins could be inconvenient for guests needing to transport belongings or access their vehicles frequently.
Convenient Late Check-In and Check-Out Process
On a more positive note, one reviewer found the late check-in and check-out process to be "extremely convenient." Additionally, they appreciated that the office called before closing on their arrival day to provide instructions on where to find their check-in packet. This indicates a level of customer service and consideration for guests arriving outside of regular office hours.
Substandard Bathroom Facilities
A major area of concern raised in one of the reviews was the condition of the bathrooms, which were described as "rather atrocious." The reviewer detailed several issues, including "underwear/socks/clothing tags on the ground, numerous toilets unusable, and the shower stalls were filled with hair clumps, razors, abandoned washcloths etc." Additionally, they noted that the hand dryer in the women's restroom was not working, and there were no paper towels. Soap dispenser functionality was also limited, with only two out of four working in the women's room and only one out of four in the men's room. These reports suggest that the cleanliness and maintenance of the bathroom facilities may be significantly below expectations.
Observations on Campground Demographics and Atmosphere
Beyond the physical conditions, one reviewer provided observations about the general atmosphere of the campground. They noted that a large majority of the guests (around 90%) were permanent residents and also mentioned that "90% of campground guests were smoking cigarettes." This might be a consideration for visitors sensitive to smoke. The same reviewer also observed "resident" children, from about age 4 and up, running around and riding bikes without adult supervision, which they clarified was not an issue for them but wanted to inform others about the campground's character.
Security Concerns Raised by a Former Long-Term Visitor
A former long-term visitor expressed significant dissatisfaction with the management, citing that "the gates never work" and that there had been "a rash of robberies" with seemingly no action taken. This individual also mentioned feeling that prices were continually rising without a corresponding increase in the quality of the experience. These are serious allegations regarding security and management responsiveness that potential long-term or even short-term visitors should be aware of.
Limited Information on Other Services and Amenities
The provided reviews primarily focus on the cabin rentals, maintenance, bathroom conditions, and the demographic makeup of the campground. There is limited information about other potential services and amenities that King Nummy Trail Campground might offer. Details regarding the availability of laundry facilities, recreational areas (playgrounds, game rooms, etc.), Wi-Fi access, or specific provisions for tent and RV campers (if any are available) are not mentioned in these reviews. Local users would need to contact the campground directly to inquire about the full range of services and amenities.
Promotional Information: Not Available in Reviews
The provided customer reviews do not contain any information about current promotions, discounts, or special offers at King Nummy Trail Campground. Local users interested in learning about pricing for cabin rentals or potential seasonal rates for campsites (if available) should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (609) 465-4242 or +1 609-465-4242.
Objective Summary for Local Users Considering King Nummy Trail Campground
King Nummy Trail Campground in Cape May Court House, NJ, offers cabin rentals and appears to function largely as a permanent residential community. While the late check-in/check-out process is noted as convenient and basic amenities are provided in the cabins, potential visitors should be aware of significant concerns raised in the reviews. These include a reported lack of maintenance leading to overgrown campsites, parking inconveniences near the cabins, and notably poor conditions in the bathroom facilities. Additionally, a former long-term resident raised serious security concerns and dissatisfaction with management responsiveness. The campground's atmosphere is also shaped by the high percentage of permanent residents and a reported prevalence of smoking.
For local users searching for "camping near me," King Nummy Trail Campground might offer a budget-friendly option, particularly with its cabin rentals. However, it is strongly recommended that potential visitors contact the campground directly to inquire about the current conditions, services, and amenities, and to address the concerns raised in the recent reviews. Visiting the campground beforehand, if possible, might also be beneficial to assess whether it meets individual expectations regarding maintenance, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere. The convenience of late check-in and the basic cabin amenities might be appealing to some, but the reported issues with maintenance and bathrooms are significant factors that should be carefully considered.

King Nummy Trail Campground Reviews
I used to have a trailer in the Lenape section my sister is still there. The gates never work there’s been a rash of robberies and nothing has been done and it sucks because they built the family back there. They were at my sister’s wedding all the people back there around for holidays. You just can’t pick up and leave family. They know that so they say screw you keep raising prices and do a little more to make your time there enjoyable. Glad I got out
Nov 24, 2024 · RayWe stayed in one of the cabin rentals over Memorial Day weekend. Overall, it met our basic needs: lights/outlet, AC, and mini fridge in our cabin (even a TV and our own water spigot which was unexpected). However we were disappointed in the lack of maintenance in the campground. At our cabin site we couldn’t use the picnic table/fire pit due to 2 foot tall weeds covering the entire area. This was consistent throughout the entire campground. There is also no where to park your car and also use your cabin site area (no cars are allowed to park along the road), so we literally had to back our car right up to the fire pit to get it off of the road. Had we stayed here before memorial weekend I would have been more understanding, however, we were expecting better upkeep to have begun for the summer season. Our late check in and checkout was extremely convenient and the office even called us before they closed for the day before we arrived to let us know where to find our check in packet. The bathrooms were rather atrocious. Underwear/socks/clothing tags on the ground, numerous toilets unusable, and the shower stalls were filled with hair clumps, razors, abandoned washcloths etc. hand drier in women’s rooms not working, and no paper towels. Only 2 of the 4 soaps dispensers in women’s room worked. Only 1 of 4 soaps dispensers in men’s room worked. We noticed that this is a campground that 90% of the sites are permanent residences. Think “hard sided camper with a single wide trailer park trailer shimmied up next to it.” A lot of gardens and decks built onto peoples campers. 90% of campground guests were smoking cigarettes as well. The “resident” children from about age 4+ ran around and rode their bikes around without adult supervision. (Wasn’t an issue for us, just want to give others an idea of the type of campground this is).
May 27, 2024 · Rebecca RathjenWas bumped from my original campsite reserved online because it was being taken by a seasonal camper. Was put in a partial hookup when i oredered a full. Price did not change. Half the sites were flooded out during the rain this weekend. The roads were atrocious (pothole city) The dump station is all the way at the rear of the park and difficult to navigate too. Grass was unkempt. Trash from previous site occupants was buried in the grass and I was forced to remove it to be able to setup. Sites have no pads setup nor clear lineage for where the site begins and ends. Sites are extremely unlevel and have massive dips. One of the pools was closed for at least 2 days with no explanation or notice at check-in. Booked through GoodSam and did not recieve my discounted rate. Was Charged for 5 additonal people when we ordered the site for 5 people total. (should have been 3 additional and the staff onsite was unable to do anything to correct it or that we did not end up bringing our dogs.
Jul 31, 2024 · Jeff LoCastro.I don't recommend this campground, we stayed at too many campgrounds and this one I will stayed away.ProsThe staff was very friendly......Cons*Washroom needs TLC, they are maybe from the 1980, old, malfunction, no vents or AC, they have windows with mosquitos nets but they are full of dirt and hair, I though staff cleaning the washhroom but still dirty after they are done, the showers are disgusting and you are lucky if you get some warm watter.*Our site was not maintained, high grass, no cement pad or gravel, they had garbage from the previous people or maybe from before, the fire rings full of cigarettes and ashes ( it wasn't clean).*From the first day tothe last one our site the ground was permanently wet and muddy, big ponds of watter around the trailer and at the back (brown dirty water).*No WiFi, the only place you can get Wi-Fi is at the office(inside) or just beside the pool,.if.you want at your site cost extra monet.* Lots of barking dogs , I love dogs but my dog is quite and respectful, this place is full of barking dogs and because they are permanent resident they are no complaints.* Swiming pool are nice and big , but there is no control of people having drinks and food even inside the pool, I told one of the person at the camp they were eating and dropping food inside the pool but nothing was done.
Aug 21, 2024 · Jorge PeraltaStayed at King Nummy this past weekend. They seemed to have a friendly staff who contacted me a few days before my stay to ask if I had any questions. Staff was also very friendly when I checked in. Upon arriving to my site, I noticed that it was very wet, swampy, marshy. There was no stone, concrete, black top pad. You were literally in the gross black thick water/mud. There was no escaping it no matter how we positioned the camper. It ended up raining the two days which made the situation even worse. I felt like I should have brought waders or boots to walk from the camper to the truck. Every pair of shoes I brought ended up stuck in the mud. We didn't unpack the screen room and camp chairs as there was nowhere that wasn't mud.
