Big Fish-N-Campground Introduce
Looking for the perfect "camping near me" getaway right here in Indiana? Big Fish-N-Campground, located at 5831 S 900 E, Lafayette, IN 47905, offers a serene and well-maintained environment for local camping enthusiasts. Whether you're planning a weekend escape or a longer stay, this campground aims to provide a relaxing experience close to home.
Nestled in the Lafayette area, Big Fish-N-Campground boasts a peaceful setting that many visitors have appreciated. One reviewer described their initial stay as "very peaceful," highlighting the pleasant atmosphere near the lake. The presence of three well-kept ponds is a significant feature, with another camper noting that they are "very well kept with no moss and debris" and even mentioning "big fish too!" This makes it an appealing destination for those who enjoy fishing as part of their camping experience.
Beyond the natural beauty, the campground also focuses on providing essential services and maintaining its facilities. Feedback indicates that the utilities are good, and the staff is often seen working on improvements and maintenance, suggesting a commitment to the upkeep of the grounds. For those who value cleanliness, one review specifically mentioned that the "bathrooms/showers were super clean & didn't smell bad at all!" They also noted the availability of ample hot water, which is always a plus for campers.
The spaciousness of the sites and the overall landscaping and maintenance have also been positively commented on, with one guest using thumbs-up emojis to express their satisfaction. The friendly staff contributes to the welcoming environment, making it a place where you might feel at home.
However, it's important to present a balanced view based on all available feedback. One camper who initially had a positive experience during a short stay later returned for a longer period and reported some unexpected charges. They mentioned an "unpublished, unannounced FOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR 'Activity Fee'" and additional charges for electricity. This led to a significant increase in their overall cost, nearly doubling their expected nightly rate. This reviewer cautioned others to be aware of potential hidden charges and advised against believing the rates listed on the website based on their experience.
Another camper who stayed for two nights at a primitive site found it to be a "hidden gem" and appreciated its proximity to the city while still offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. They paid $116 for their two-night stay, highlighting the value they perceived. This suggests that experiences can vary, and the type of site and duration of stay might influence the overall cost and satisfaction.

Big Fish-N-Campground Reviews
Stopped for a couple nights on our trip back north. Had a great sight just off the lake. Very peaceful, good utilities, staff was working the entire time we were there on improvements/maintenance. They really seem to care about the place. We would definitely stay here again. UPDATE: Based on our first good stay here, we decided to spend a month here. Our first surprise was an unpublished, unannounced FOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR "Activity Fee". On top of that, they charged us for electricity - REALLY, MORE, after bilking us out of $400??? What should have been a reasonable $26/night for the month unexpectedly ballooned to over $49/night - just about DOUBLE what we expected to pay. It's a nice enough campground, but the hidden charges really makes this place seem sketchy. DO NOT BELIEVE THE RATES ON THEIR WEBSITE. We have learned our lesson and will never stay here again.

Jun 24, 2024 · AshleyBeautiful location. Friendly people. Owner is great guy. Giant Catfish and Bass in the ponds. Regularly see blue heron and ducks. The RV residence care about presentation and the ground. If you are tent camping bring water.
Oct 14, 2024 · Nathan ScalfI don't know if the place has rooms, but I visited during the daytime. It was very quiet everyone was polite, the location is fairly small and intimate so there's no huge groups at least none that I saw. And the camping spots are very spacious, and have electricity
Aug 21, 2024 · Brandon JohnsonI booked a site 3 weeks before my stay. I told them I would be late and wouldn't arrive till after they close which is 8 pm. They said to simply call the day of to let them know I'd be late. So the day of I called at 7 pm, no answer. I called every 10 minutes until 8 pm and still no answer. We arrived after 9 pm and fortunately found a camper to let us in because the office was empty. The next day I went to the office and asked why they weren't answering the phone and was told they sent her home early because they weren't expecting anyone to arrive late! Because I called at 7 they were going to leave me high and dry without a site! YES, i could have called earlier but when you say to call before 8 but send people home at 7 you're going to really leave someone in a bind. I drove 2 hours and booked 3 weeks in advance! Without that camper at the gate we would have been completely screwed. Because of them you have been saved from a 1 star review. If you're going to send people home an hour early you should tell your campers to call much much earlier if they're going to be late. Ive camped at dozens of campgrounds and I've never been to a place where the advertised office hours don't mean anything. Customers need to know there is a good chance you won't answer the phone after 7 pm since you're sending employees home before your advertised closing time. All of this could have been communicated when I booked the site 3 weeks prior. The worst part is they had my parking tag sitting right there on the desk so they had to assume I was still coming or was coming late and they closed early anyway! I could have been really screwed here! Even if I got there at 7:15 there would have been nobody there to let me in! This is a terrible way to do this.
