Caboose Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience with lake access and engaging activities, Caboose Lake Campground, located at 3657 US-24, Remington, IN 47977, USA, presents an interesting option. Recent reviews offer a mixed but ultimately positive perspective on this campground, highlighting both its strengths and a significant environmental factor to consider.
One of the consistently praised aspects of Caboose Lake Campground is its staff. Multiple reviewers described the team as "wonderful," "very friendly," and "efficient." This positive feedback suggests that guests can expect a welcoming and helpful experience from the campground personnel, which can significantly enhance the overall enjoyment of a "camping near me" getaway. The staff's pride in their facilities is also mentioned, indicating a commitment to maintaining a quality environment for visitors.
A major feature of Caboose Lake Campground is, as its name suggests, a lake. One reviewer described the lake as "lovely" and another specifically mentioned enjoying the "lake and wibits," indicating the presence of an inflatable water park on the lake. This amenity appears to be a significant draw, particularly for families with children, as highlighted by the reviewer who had a "blast" and found the wibits "very nice and so fun!!!" The fact that their children were "worn out every evening" suggests that the lake and water park provide ample opportunities for active recreation.
Despite the positive aspects, a significant environmental factor to consider is the noise from the nearby interstate. One reviewer who camped in a motorhome described the noise as "deafening," attributing it to the campground's proximity to an exit ramp and the engine brakes of trucks heading to nearby truck stops. This noise was reported to be so disruptive that it made it impossible to sit outside and continued throughout the night, negatively impacting their ability to enjoy the "lovely" lake. Another reviewer, while ultimately enjoying their stay, also cited the noise from the interstate as the sole reason for giving a 4-star rating instead of 5.
Another issue reported by one reviewer was the temporary unavailability of potable water due to a water main break in town. While this appears to have been a temporary and external issue, the reviewer expressed disappointment that they were not informed of this prior to their arrival. This highlights the importance of communication from the campground regarding any potential disruptions to services.
Despite these challenges, the campground's maintenance and management received positive feedback. One reviewer noted that the campground was "very well maintained and managed," which contrasts with the noise issue and suggests that the owners are attentive to the upkeep of the property itself. This is an important factor for those seeking a clean and organized "camping near me" experience.
The availability of campsites appears to cater to different types of campers. One reviewer stayed in a motorhome, and another mentioned staying on site B12 for eight nights with five campers total. The presence of pull-through sites is not explicitly mentioned, but the accommodation of motorhomes suggests that various site types are available. However, one reviewer felt that the cost of their site was "double what it should have been considering the issues" (noise and water). This indicates that while the campground has positive attributes, the pricing in relation to potential drawbacks might be a consideration for some.
The positive experience of the reviewer who was initially nervous due to negative reviews is noteworthy. Their ultimate enjoyment and desire to return suggest that the positive aspects of Caboose Lake Campground, such as the lake, wibits, friendly staff, and maintenance, can outweigh the negative factor of the interstate noise for some visitors. However, it's crucial for potential local users seeking "camping near me" to be aware of this potential noise issue and consider its impact on their camping experience.
To summarize the environment of Caboose Lake Campground, it is located near a lake that features a water park with wibits, providing opportunities for water-based fun. However, its proximity to the interstate results in significant noise pollution, which can detract from the outdoor experience, particularly for those in campsites closer to the highway. The campground itself is reported to be well-maintained.
In terms of services, Caboose Lake Campground offers friendly and efficient staff. The availability of potable water might be subject to external factors, so it's advisable to inquire about this before arrival. The campground accommodates RVs and appears to have various campsite options. However, specific details about hookups (electrical, water, sewer) and other amenities like restrooms, showers, or laundry facilities are not detailed in the provided reviews.
The key features of Caboose Lake Campground include the lake and the inflatable water park (wibits), which are significant attractions, especially for families. The friendly and helpful staff also stands out as a positive feature. However, the significant noise from the adjacent interstate is a notable drawback.
No promotional information, such as discounts or special offers, is mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in "camping near me" at Caboose Lake Campground should contact them directly at (219) 224-3055 or +1 219-224-3055 to inquire about pricing, site availability, and any ongoing promotions. It would also be prudent to ask about the location of campsites relative to the interstate to assess the potential impact of noise on their stay.
In conclusion, Caboose Lake Campground offers a fun-filled "camping near me" experience, particularly for those interested in lake activities and a water park. The friendly and efficient staff and the well-maintained grounds are also positive aspects. However, potential visitors should be aware of the significant noise from the nearby interstate, which has been a major concern for some guests. Depending on individual sensitivities to noise and the priority placed on lake and water park activities, Caboose Lake Campground could be a worthwhile option, but careful consideration of the noise factor is essential. Contacting the campground directly for more details about site locations and current conditions is recommended for local users planning their "camping near me" getaway.

Caboose Lake Campground Reviews
The team was wonderful. Very friendly and efficient! We camped in our motorhome and the noise from the interstate was deafening! The exit ramp was directly in back of us and the engine brakes from the trucks heading to the truck stops was unbelievable! Could not sit outside at all. The lake is lovely but we were unable to enjoy it. Noise went on all night. The water was not potable as a water main broke in town and I wish that we had been told that before arrival. The cost of the site was double what it should have been considering the issues. The campground was very well maintained and managed.
Sep 21, 2024 · Robin DustowAfter reading a lot of negative reviews, we were nervous coming into this trip. HOWEVER…we loved it!! Had a blast!! And definitely want to come back. The lake and wibits were very nice and so fun!!! We stayed 8 nights with 5 campers total. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were not allowed to check in 30 minutes early without paying a fee, so we just killed time before going. We were on site B12. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the noise from the interstate. Otherwise, a great relaxing week and the kids were worn out every evening!!
Aug 04, 2024 · Alisa HildenbrandWe loved it! People were nice, Yurt was clean and on the lake. The view was beautiful, and you could fish from the deck. The Bathhouse was clean with showers. Lake was beautiful, and amenities for kids were amazing. Back to school weekend was a blast, with lots of games and prizes! No one walked away empty-handed. Full gift shop and garden to sit in. The only downside is that it is located right next to the interstate, which is very noisy when trying to sleep.
Aug 18, 2024 · Melissa FranklinOur stay at Caboose Lake camp ground was excellent! The camp ground is by far the nicest and cleanest that we've stayed at. The staff are very friendly and helpful with everything. The beach, swim area and the inflatables were absolutely great. The sites are very clean along with the bathrooms and shower house. We definitely give it 5 stars and will absolutely be camping there again very soon! I highly suggest a stay there to any and everyone! There is something to do for everyone. And for those who don't have a RV or tent they have awesome Cabins and Yurts for rent as well. Very reasonable rates on all sites and rentals.
Jun 11, 2024 · Robert SmithAbsolutely beautiful campground! I had a spot on the lake, right on the water, with the most beautiful view. Free Wifi available and every spot is a full hook up which is nice. Staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful. Excellent fishing from the front of my camper to the lake. Only issue I had was there is very little water pressure. At least at the site my camper was at. Either way, will definitely be coming back many more times.
