Caskeys Campground Introduce
For those searching for "camping near me" in the Orrville, Ohio area, Caskeys Campground, located at 14849 Fosnight Rd, Orrville, OH 44667, USA, presents a lakeside camping option. Based on the available customer reviews, the campground offers a mixed experience, with some positive aspects regarding its environment and kid-friendliness, but significant concerns raised about the owner's demeanor, the cleanliness of facilities, and safety issues.
The environment of Caskeys Campground appears to be centered around a swimming lake, which is highlighted as a positive aspect by one reviewer whose campsite was located nearby in the back of the campground. This suggests that the presence of a lake is a key environmental feature, potentially offering opportunities for swimming and lakeside relaxation. The reviewer who enjoyed their stay mentioned it being "kid-friendly," implying an environment that caters to families with children. However, a contrasting review paints a less favorable picture, noting that tent campers felt watched by those in RVs and campers, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. This suggests a potential divide in the camping experience based on the type of accommodation. Furthermore, the serious safety concern raised about "huge holes, alongside the swimming lake, that are not noticeable until either you are looking down while you're walking or you fall right into them and get seriously injured" is a significant environmental factor that potential visitors should be aware of. The presence of back trails for dog walking is also mentioned, indicating some natural areas within or adjacent to the campground.
The services at Caskeys Campground receive mixed feedback. One positive review mentions that "everyone seems to be very nice and they're all very helpful," indicating friendly and supportive staff. However, this is starkly contrasted by a detailed negative review stating that "the owner is rude!" This inconsistency in staff experience is something to consider. Regarding facilities, the negative review is particularly critical, describing the "bathrooms and showers" as "absolutely disgusting!" This is a significant concern for any camper relying on these amenities. The presence of a swimming lake suggests a recreational service, though its safety is questioned due to the reported holes. The availability of back trails for dog walking is another service or feature. The negative reviewer also pointed out a lack of information on the website about booking sites for tent camping and an incident of double booking a campsite, which indicates potential issues with the reservation system and customer service. The fact that the campground accommodated the double booking by providing another open site nearby was a lucky resolution for that particular instance but highlights a lack of proper management in this area.
The features of Caskeys Campground include campsites located by the swimming lake, which were considered a good aspect of the stay by one reviewer. The campground accommodates both tent camping and RVs/campers. However, the negative reviewer's experience suggests a potential disparity in how tent campers are perceived or treated compared to RVers. The presence of back trails for dog walking is a feature appreciated by pet owners. A significant negative feature is the reported "huge holes, alongside the swimming lake," posing a safety hazard. The lack of online booking information for tent sites is another problematic feature for potential tent campers. The incident of double booking indicates a flaw in the reservation system. The perceived lack of privacy and the feeling of being watched by other campers could be considered a negative feature of the campsite layout or the general atmosphere. The kid-friendly nature mentioned in one review suggests features or activities that appeal to families with children, although these are not specified.
Based on the provided customer reviews, there is no mention of any promotional information for Caskeys Campground. The starkly contrasting experiences and the serious concerns raised in the negative review overshadow any potential discussion of promotions. Given the issues highlighted, potential visitors would likely prioritize addressing these concerns before being interested in any discounts or special offers. It would be prudent for the campground to address the negative feedback regarding cleanliness, safety hazards, and customer service before focusing on attracting new visitors through promotions. Therefore, no information regarding promotional offers can be objectively presented based on the current reviews.
In conclusion, Caskeys Campground in Orrville, Ohio, offers a lakeside camping environment that some visitors have found appealing, particularly those with children and those whose campsites were near the swimming lake. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding the rudeness of the owner, the unacceptable cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers, safety hazards around the swimming lake due to unmarked holes, a lack of online booking information for tent sites, issues with double booking, and a perceived negative attitude towards tent campers from those in RVs. While one positive review mentions friendly and helpful staff, the detailed negative experience presents serious red flags for potential visitors. Due to the significant negative feedback concerning safety and customer service, local users are strongly advised to exercise caution and seek further information or recent reviews from other sources before considering a stay at Caskeys Campground. The lack of any mention of promotional offers is secondary to the more pressing issues raised by a disgruntled former guest.

Caskeys Campground Reviews
Kid-friendly Campground enjoying our first year of camping here! Everyone seems to be very nice and they're all very helpful!
May 27, 2018 · augusta harveyThe only good thing about our stay was where our campsites were. They were by the swimming lake and in the back of the campground. Other than that, the owner is rude! The bathrooms and showers are absolutely disgusting! It's like if you are tent camping, you are constantly being watched by the people who are in the RVs and campers. It's like they are looking down on you because you are camping in a tent! Like they think they are better than you! On top of that, there are huge holes, alongside the swimming lake, that are not noticeable until either you are looking down while you're walking or you fall right into them and get seriously injured! Their website as no information about booking sites for tent camping. They also double booked one of our sites and it didn't matter to them whatsoever! We were lucky that there was another open one right next to the other site they gave us. Also, my sister in law was walking her dog on the back trails, on his leash, and some guy, who I'm sure is camping in an RV or camper, had his 2 dogs off their leashes and they were coming towards her and her dog like they were ready to attack and when she told him twice to get his dogs, he yelled at her and never apologized for having his dogs off their leashes and for being a jerk! I will definitely not recommend this campground to anyone! We will NEVER come back!
Jul 21, 2024 · Dawn VogtBeen going here for my family reunion since before I could walk! The tradition continues! This place remains the best!!More recently we have been coming for Dylan's Dash 5 K - I just heard about this last year and my daughter also has type 1 diabetes so we are so happy to be able to come out and support this cause!
Jul 23, 2024 · Laurie WWe love caskeys. We buy a summer pass every year. Eric and Andrea are such great people. Prices are very reasonable. The red barn has snacks for the kids and they are under priced in my opinion. They also have one worker who’s very nice and helpful named Brooklyn. 11/10 stars. Dog friendly. On a leash. Clean bath house (for a camp site) play ground is clean and well maintained.
