Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in North Lawrence, OH Introduce
For local residents in and around North Lawrence, Ohio, seeking an action-packed and family-oriented "camping near me" experience, Clay's Resort Jellystone Park, located at 12951 Patterson St NW, North Lawrence, OH 44666, USA, offers a wide array of amenities and activities designed to keep campers of all ages entertained. As part of the Jellystone Park franchise, known for its family-friendly atmosphere and Yogi Bear theme, Clay's Resort provides a vibrant and engaging environment for a memorable local getaway. While overwhelmingly positive, some specific aspects warrant attention for a comprehensive understanding.
The environment at Clay's Resort Jellystone Park is geared towards recreation and family fun. The presence of a lake and a "sprinkle park" (likely a splash pad or water play area) indicates a focus on water-based activities, especially appealing during the warmer months. The mention of a "foam pit" further suggests a playful and active environment designed for children and families. The campground offers a variety of campsites, as one reviewer noted "a lot of options/sites to choose from," catering to different preferences, although the availability of golf cart rentals might be limited in certain "primitive" areas, suggesting a potential range from basic to more developed sites.
In terms of services, Clay's Resort Jellystone Park appears to be well-equipped. An "on-site restaurant" is a significant convenience, offering campers the option to dine without leaving the premises. The food was described as "good and not over priced" by one reviewer. The availability of other "facilities" that were deemed "top notch" suggests well-maintained infrastructure and amenities throughout the park. The staff is consistently praised as "very nice & helpful," contributing to a positive overall experience.
Features of the campground are abundant and cater to a wide range of interests. The lake is a central feature, described as "super fun," likely offering opportunities for swimming, boating (though specifics aren't detailed), and enjoying the waterfront. The "sprinkle part" is another key attraction for water play. The "foam pit" adds a unique and enjoyable element for active fun. For sports enthusiasts, while not explicitly detailed, Jellystone Parks often include recreational areas like sports fields or courts. The positive mention of a playground is also common in family-oriented campgrounds.
One reviewer noted that their stay in an RV was "safe & quiet," particularly during the night, with the relaxing sounds of "crickets tree frogs and birds." This suggests that despite the numerous activities, the campground maintains a peaceful environment during sleeping hours, which is a significant benefit for those seeking rest and relaxation.
However, the same reviewer raised a significant safety concern regarding the "total chaos on the lake inflatables." They reported a lack of regulation, with instances of people jumping on children in the water and individuals slipping and falling on others from the inflatables. A specific incident of a large adult falling on a small child was mentioned, along with a near collision with a sliding adult. The reviewer strongly recommended the implementation of safety regulations, such as single-file lines and clearing landing areas, to prevent potential injuries or fatalities. This is a critical point for local users with children to consider, emphasizing the need for close parental supervision in the lake area with inflatables.
Another area for potential improvement mentioned by a reviewer was the cleanliness and temperature of the showers. While the campsites were noted as clean, the showers used one evening were described as needing cleaning and having "arctic" water. This suggests potential inconsistencies in the maintenance of communal facilities. Local users should be prepared for possible variations in shower quality and consider bringing appropriate footwear for potentially less clean environments.
The desire to rent a golf cart was mentioned by a reviewer who was staying in a "primitive area." The unavailability of golf carts in this section meant they had to drive or walk. This indicates that the campground might have different zones with varying levels of amenities and services, and transportation options within the park might be limited based on the campsite location. Local users with mobility concerns or those staying in more remote areas should inquire about internal transportation options.

The environment is geared towards fun with a lake, sprinkle park, and foam pit, complemented by convenient services like an on-site restaurant and friendly staff. Features like clean campsites and a generally quiet nighttime atmosphere add to its appeal. However, local users should be aware of the significant safety concerns raised regarding the lack of regulation on the lake inflatables and potential issues with shower cleanliness and water temperature. Inquiring about transportation options within the park, especially for primitive areas, is also advisable. Contacting the resort directly is recommended to get the latest information on amenities, safety measures, and any promotional offers to make the most of your local camping adventure.

Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in North Lawrence, OH Reviews
Came to Ohio to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & The Pro Football Hall of Fame. Our stay was safe & quiet in our RV. My family had a great time. The on site restaurant & other facilities were top notch. The staff was very nice & helpful.
Nov 06, 2024 · Shelly-Michele HaleOverall the stay was great and we had a great time. Staff were very nice. It was very quiet during the night which was very relaxing to hear the crickets tree frogs and birds. The camp sites were clean and there were a lot of options/sites to choose from. Used showers one evening and they need to be cleaned and the water was arctic. There was a lot to do here to keep every one busy. The lake was super fun and the sprinkle part was super fun! The food was good and not over priced. Wanted to rent a golf cart but was unable to because we were in a primitive area so we had to drive or walk. Would have been nice to have a cart. The foam pit was a nice touch! My only real concern about our stay and it’s a real safety hazard was the total chaos on the lake inflatables. There is no one regulating them at all. Children that were in the water were getting jumped on from other people on the inflatable. We are talking like 10 foot jumps on to kids in the the water. Also when crawling up the inflatables adult and children alike slipping from the top of the inflatable and falling on top of people underneath them. I saw a grown woman about 250lbs fall on a small child. When people come down the slides I was inches away from a big man sliding right into me because I had not swam away quick enough. There should definitely be some one regulating these inflatables before dare I say some one gets hurt or even dead. Single file line and make sure the people below are cleared the landing areas. I am really shocked this has not been addressed or take care of honestly. My disclaimer to parents is to make sure you are watching your children very close or are with them while swimming in the lake by the inflatables. Overall the stay was very nice and we will be visiting again. But might reconsider the lake next time.
Jul 29, 2024 · Jennie LewisAmazing place to take the family. Fun for ALL ages. Grab a life jacket and go play, ALL DAY!!!! We go every summer! This year, we had a huge, unfortunate situation happen. We live two hours away and we did not buy our passes the night prior, (always do this before you plan to go!!!) We get there and the day passes are sold out. Kids are balling, husband very upset. The water gate service was not helpful and would not even let us pull over to just think for a minute. We went to the camping office and the young ladies who worked in there were so sweet and they just felt so badly. They tried everything to figure out what they could do for us. They called in the boss lady, Tonya. She felt even worse once she got our address and saw just how far we drove. She wouldn't give up until she figured out a solution that was MORE than satisfactory. She was so caring and so nice. Needless to say, we all ended up enjoying a whole weekend thanks to her. Our kids jumped out of the car and ran over to hug and thank her. That whole office, the gatekeeper, the girls and especially Tonya. Excellent customer service. As always, we will be returning!!!Thank you all SO MUCH!
Jul 31, 2024 · Lacy CusterI've stayed at Clay's a couple of times now, and each visit has been fantastic! They offer so much variety and fun activities that there's never a dull moment. The water attractions, especially, are an absolute blast. The staff is incredible. They go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and ensure that all guests have a great experience. The property is huge, but it's maintained exceptionally well. Can't wait for the next trip!
Jul 09, 2024 · Felicia GrigsbyThey hold a medieval festival there. There were a lot of people there. So we had to park on the other side of The main entrance. We asked about handicapped parking. Show the pointed us to an area that was far away 4 somebody that is handicapp. I asked if they had shuttles. And the lady said no we don't. I commented to the fact that it's a long way to walk just to get in. That lady replied rudely that you're gonna have to walk when you get in. I told her that's exactly right. And that's where I want to do my walking not in this stupid parking lot. People that run this event need to do better because I saw probably 15 golf carts there.
