China Flat Campground Introduce
Welcome to China Flat Campground, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque landscape of Kyburz, CA, offering an exceptional outdoor experience for local users and visitors alike. Situated within the majestic Eldorado National Forest, this campground is a prime destination for those seeking tranquility, natural beauty, and a wide array of recreational activities. As a prominent listing in the "Camping Near Me" category, China Flat Campground provides direct access to the services and goods that enhance your outdoor adventure, from well-maintained campsites to nearby natural attractions perfect for fishing, rafting, and hiking.
China Flat Campground boasts a truly serene and immersive natural environment. It is set amidst a forested area, offering ample shade and a sense of seclusion that many campers cherish. The campground is located directly along the Silver Fork of the American River, providing stunning riverside views and the soothing sounds of flowing water. This proximity to the river makes it an ideal spot for water enthusiasts. The overall ambiance is clean and quiet, particularly throughout the weekdays, allowing for a truly relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While most sites are thoughtfully spaced, providing a good degree of privacy, some are located closer together, particularly those down by the river. Reviewers consistently highlight the well-groomed nature of the campsites, indicating a high standard of maintenance that contributes to the pleasant experience. The elevation of China Flat Campground is approximately 4,800 feet, offering comfortable summer temperatures.
China Flat Campground provides a range of essential services and amenities designed to make your stay comfortable and convenient. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, a fire ring, and a grill, allowing for easy meal preparation and traditional campfire experiences. Potable water is readily available throughout the site, ensuring campers have access to fresh drinking water. Restroom facilities are regularly maintained and kept well-stocked with toilet paper, a detail highly appreciated by visitors. While the restrooms are typically vault toilets, they are noted for their cleanliness. For waste disposal, garbage receptacles are conveniently located. The campground also benefits from the presence of a dedicated camp host, who is available to assist campers and ensure a smooth experience. It's important to note that while the campground offers a back-to-nature experience, cellular service is generally unavailable, providing an excellent opportunity for a digital detox. Showers and RV hookups (electrical, water, sewer) are not available, so campers should plan accordingly for a more rustic experience. Bear boxes are also not explicitly mentioned for every site, so campers should be diligent about properly storing food, soaps, and garbage to deter wildlife, as bears are known to be in the area.
The primary draw of China Flat Campground lies in its exceptional features and the myriad of recreational opportunities it offers. The close proximity to the Silver Fork of the American River is a major highlight. Many campers praise the great river access for activities such as rafting in inner tubes, offering a refreshing way to cool off during warmer days. Fishing is another top activity, with reviewers noting good fishing spots just a couple of miles up the road towards Silver Fork campgrounds. The river is stocked with trout, and opportunities for both river/stream fishing are abundant. Beyond water-based activities, the surrounding Eldorado National Forest presents a wealth of hiking trails, inviting campers to explore the scenic beauty of the area. Day hikes are a popular choice. The campground also offers picnic areas for day visitors. For those interested in local history, the historic Harvey West Cabin, built in the 1930s and currently undergoing restoration, is located nearby. While not directly at the campground, the broader Eldorado National Forest area offers a vast array of activities including mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, and wildlife viewing. The varied terrain and natural beauty make it perfect for nature photography and birdwatching.
For those planning a trip to China Flat Campground, here are some key considerations and promotional points to enhance your experience. As a popular destination, especially on weekends, sites tend to fill up quickly. It is highly recommended to arrive early if you plan to visit on a Friday or Saturday to secure a spot, as the campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis for many sites, though some reservations might be possible through Interagency passes. The campground typically operates from June to September. Fees are generally $28 per single site and $56 for a double site. Interagency Senior and Access passes are accepted for single-family units, offering a discounted rate; remember to provide your pass number when making a reservation. Firewood is available for purchase at a decent price, but bringing your own is always a good option if feasible. Check-in time is typically 2:00 p.m. and check-out is 1:00 p.m. Keep in mind that single units are limited to two vehicles and six people per site, while double units allow for four vehicles and twelve people. An extra vehicle may be permitted for a fee if the parking spur allows. For walk-in tent sites (some are located across a bridge and require carrying gear), parking is near the campground entrance. While the campground is generally quiet, especially during the week, there have been occasional reports of larger groups being loud on Friday and Saturday nights up until late hours. However, the spacious layout of many sites helps mitigate noise disturbance for most campers. The camp hosts are often praised for being friendly, helpful, and diligent in maintaining the campground's cleanliness. The serene and well-kept environment makes China Flat Campground a highly recommended destination for a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience.

China Flat Campground Reviews
Great camping experience at China Flat campgrounds. Fishing was good just 2 miles up the road towards Silver Fork campgrounds. Campgrounds were clean and quiet throughout the week and we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend these campgrounds. Great river access for rafting in inner tubes.
Jul 28, 2023 · Martin FloresGreat campground. Most sites aren't right next to each other, though some are such as the ones down by the river. We had #8, so we were decently far from other camp sites. The restrooms are regularly maintained and toilet paper is well stocked. Most campers around us were quiet at 9pm or 10pm but on Friday & Saturday night, there was a large group near site #6 that were loud up until 11pm or so. Thankfully #8 was decently far from them, though I feel bad for people that were near them. And on Sunday evening had a family by the water on site #17 or #18 that was laughing and talking like it was daytime up until 12:30am. I had thought about notifying the host but I didn't want to bother them.Overall we had a good camping experience, we had stayed for 4 nights in total(Checked in Thursday, Left Monday morning.) Firewood is decently priced all things considered. However if you're able to, bringing your own firewood wouldn't hurt.Though if you plan to come on Friday or Saturday, best come early as since the sites fill up FAST!!!

China flat is beautiful, the camp hosts are amazing, the facility is clean and even though small for a camping spot it has been amazing to grow up here. Weather you want to get up early with the birds to fish, do a little white water tubing, swim in the amazing swimming hole or just go exploring this place has it al !!! Happy camping
