Circle O Campground Introduce
For local users in Illinois and the surrounding region searching for "camping near me," Circle O Campground, located at 2178 County Rd 925 in Fairfield, IL 62837, presents a camping option with a range of features and services. To get in touch with the campground, you can call them at (618) 302-1083 or +1 618-302-1083. Based on the available customer reviews, it's important for potential local campers to be aware of both positive and negative experiences reported by previous guests to make an informed decision.
One review paints a concerning picture of the campground management, alleging issues with utility services, property rights, and personal conduct. This reviewer claims that despite timely or even advance rent payments, their utilities were shut off during a heatwave, purportedly to force them off the property before their paid period ended. They further allege being barred from the property while moving their belongings and accused the management of unlawfully attempting to take possession of their camper and personal items. The review also details accusations of property damage, theft, and inappropriate behavior by the owners. This account raises serious concerns about the management practices and the overall experience for some long-term or RV campers at Circle O Campground.
Conversely, another review offers a starkly different and highly positive perspective, particularly for those interested in "primitive camping." This reviewer explicitly states that the owners are "very honest" about the primitive nature of the camping experience but emphasizes that for the price, the campground exceeded expectations. They highlight several unexpected amenities and services, including WiFi, provided firewood, and even the offer of power despite the expectation of roughing it. The campground is described as "animal friendly" and "gun friendly" (with a strong emphasis on gun safety). Unique features mentioned include a zip line, which the reviewer found enjoyable, and trails suitable for side-by-side vehicles and mudding activities. The campground also appears to host events, such as a 4/20 celebration and an eclipse festival, suggesting a potentially lively and engaging atmosphere at certain times.
The positive review also mentions enjoyable fishing opportunities and a great time for both the campers and their dogs. The reviewer expresses an intention to return, indicating a satisfying overall experience. They also commend the campground's security, noting that they felt comfortable leaving their trailer unlocked for three nights. Furthermore, they appreciated the owners' consideration regarding privacy requests. The reviewer concluded by highly recommending Circle O Campground, especially for those who communicate their expectations to the owners, who they believe will be honest about their ability to meet those needs. This review suggests that for certain types of campers, particularly those seeking a more adventurous and less conventional camping experience, Circle O Campground might be a good fit.
Considering the contrasting reviews, the environment and services at Circle O Campground seem to cater to a specific type of camper, primarily those interested in a more rustic or off-road oriented experience. The mention of primitive camping suggests that not all sites may have full hookups, and amenities might be more basic compared to traditional campgrounds. However, the positive review indicates that the owners may go above and beyond to provide certain comforts, such as WiFi and potentially limited power, even in primitive settings. The presence of trails for side-by-sides and mudding points to a more rugged and recreational environment, potentially appealing to off-road vehicle enthusiasts among local users.
The zip line is a unique feature that adds an element of adventure and fun, potentially attracting families and thrill-seekers. The mention of fishing suggests the presence of a water body on or near the property, offering another recreational activity for campers. The campground's pet-friendly and gun-friendly policies (with safety emphasis) indicate a welcoming attitude towards these specific interests within the local camping community.
The hosting of events like festivals suggests that Circle O Campground might offer a more social and community-oriented camping experience at certain times of the year. Local users interested in such events could inquire about the campground's schedule. The positive reviewer also mentioned the possibility of picking blackberries, hinting at natural features and potential seasonal attractions around the campground.
However, the serious allegations in the negative review regarding management practices, utility disruptions, and property rights cannot be ignored by potential local campers. It is crucial to weigh these concerns against the positive aspects highlighted in the other review. The discrepancy suggests that experiences at Circle O Campground might vary significantly depending on the type of camping (primitive vs. RV), the duration of stay, and interactions with the management.
Given the limited information and the conflicting reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" and considering Circle O Campground should exercise caution and due diligence. It would be advisable to contact the owners directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about the current facilities, services, policies, and to discuss their specific camping needs and expectations. Asking detailed questions about utility services, especially for RV campers, and clarifying the campground's policies regarding long-term stays and property rights would be prudent. Additionally, inquiring about the types of campsites available (primitive vs. with hookups), the condition of the facilities, and any specific rules or regulations is recommended.
While the positive review suggests a willingness by the owners to be honest and accommodating, the negative review raises red flags about potential mismanagement. Therefore, local campers should proceed with caution, seek clarification on any potential concerns, and perhaps even try to get more recent feedback from other campers before making a reservation at Circle O Campground. The unique features like the zip line and trails might be appealing, but ensuring a reliable and respectful camping experience should be a top priority for anyone searching for "camping near me." Without further objective information or promotional details, it is difficult to provide a definitive recommendation, and local users must rely on their own judgment after gathering more information.

Circle O Campground Reviews
Awful people. You’ll pay your rent on time and sometimes in advance in exchange for working utilities. And then they’ll shut your utilities off in a heatwave to force you out before your paid month is even up. And then they’ll bar you from the property while you scurry to move your camper and things, and in 24 hours they’ll claim their policy trumps federal law and will try to take possession of your camper and things. They moved and concealed my property in the back of the their land. Not just being thieves, but the wife is a jealous miserable person as well, who will scream and yell about why she’s so entitled to taking your things. Classless people. They damaged my camper among taking things and being inside it. Don’t do business here. Take your hard earned money to people who can actually give you a real camping experience without being shiesty. They should be shut down for other things anyways.
Sep 01, 2024 · Amphy SabisuThis is the best for primitive camping, AND THE OWNERS ARE VERY HONEST ABOUT THAT! BUT FOR THE PRICE, THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND!! We had WiFi, they brought us wood, and even though we were prepared for roughing it, they insisted on making sure we had power. Animal friendly. Gun friendly(BUT INSIST ON GUN SAFETY.) There's a zip line that my husband made me try...FUN AS ALL GET OUT ... There are trails for side by sides and fun in the mud!!! They hosted a 4/20 and eclipse festival that I am very disappointed that we missed. The fishing was fun! The dogs had a great time we had a great time...looking to go back soon for a night of fun, and to get some promised blackberries ;) ...overall, they are just starting out and looks like they use their profits to put back into their business, which we support highly! They have great security, in the fact that we were there for 3 nights and never ever locked the door, and they were kind enough to apologize for children that were close to our campfire area while we were gone. But the kiddos were just walking through. Call the Owners...tell them what you expect, and they will be more than honest if they can provide what you need!!! 5 stars, wish more were like this! What I truly appreciated, was that they asked what kind of privacy we were requesting!!!... Sometimes, you just need left alone to recoup from travel, and they absolutely were willing to make sure we had peace and privacy...but this was just getting trailer out and getting her ready for the summer. We had so much fun, and even got a demo from the hireable DJ that was on-site. Guys, give them a shot, we'd love to see what they do with the place over the next few years! 3 We camped at Circle O Campground in a Travel Trailer.
May 31, 2024 · Sara Mae KingThe owners are so kind and helpful. My rig is on the larger size and they helped watch all the angles and direct me into the parking space. The decor around their pond (full of fish and open for fishing) is like a mix of American memorabilia and a hint of Mad Max. I LOVED IT!!Also they collected firewood for us before we even got there. I'm saving it to my favourite campsites!
