Based on recent customer feedback, this campground provides a natural setting with some basic amenities and appealing features for those who appreciate a more primitive camping style.
One reviewer described Clint Converse State Forest Campground as "rustic" and highlighted that the facilities include only satellite toilets and a hand pump for water, with no electric hookups available. This immediately sets the expectation for a more back-to-nature camping experience. The same reviewer also noted the presence of a dock on the lower part of the park, ideal for fishing, as well as a boat launch, which is excellent news for those looking to enjoy Lake Washburn. They also mentioned that the upper part of the park offers some "great level campsites," which is always a plus for setting up tents or parking smaller camping vehicles that don't require hookups. A point to consider is the campground's proximity to a county road or highway, resulting in a "decent amount of traffic" noise, although this particular reviewer still expressed their love for the location.
Another visitor offered a slightly different perspective, emphasizing the "Quiet" atmosphere, although this might seem contradictory to the highway noise mentioned earlier, perhaps indicating that the noise is not overly intrusive or that different campsites experience varying levels of it. This reviewer also praised the "Swimming area," describing it as "great" and noting the unique feature that "One can wade out 25 yards while casting," suggesting excellent fishing opportunities directly from the swimming area or shallow waters. They also mentioned "Lots of clean restrooms," which contrasts with the "satellite toilets" mentioned by the other reviewer, implying that there might be different types of restroom facilities available or that cleanliness was a standout feature for this particular camper. The proximity to the towns of "Remer and Outing" was also seen as a benefit, likely for accessing supplies or local attractions. Finally, this reviewer highlighted the presence of "Trails," making it appealing for hikers and nature walkers.
Combining these reviews, we can paint a picture of Clint Converse State Forest Campground:
Environment: The campground is located within the Clint Converse State Forest, suggesting a natural and potentially wooded setting. It offers access to Lake Washburn, with both a lower area with a dock and boat launch, and an upper area with level campsites. While described as generally quiet by one reviewer, another noted proximity to a road with traffic noise, so the sound environment might vary depending on the specific campsite.
Services: The services are rustic. Expect satellite toilets and a hand pump for water. There are no electric hookups, making it more suitable for tent campers or RVs that don't rely heavily on external power. One reviewer mentioned "clean restrooms," which might refer to more permanent facilities in certain areas of the campground in addition to the satellite toilets.
Features: Key features include direct access to Lake Washburn with a fishing dock and a boat launch, making it ideal for anglers and boaters. The swimming area is noted as great, with the unique ability to wade out for fishing. The presence of "wonderful trails" appeals to hikers and nature enthusiasts. Clint Converse State Forest Campground Reviews
Rustic campground with only satellite toilets and a hand pump for water, no electric hook ups. There is a dock on the lower part of the park for fishing and a boat launch. The upper part of the park has some great level campsites. It's close to a county road or highway that gets a decent amount of traffic so you will hear cars going by a lot but we love it here.
Jul 15, 2023 · Angie SimmondsQuiet. Swimming area is great. One can wade out 25 yards while casting. Lots of clean restrooms. Close to Remer and Outing. Trails.
Sep 14, 2019 · PJ LarsonIt's very rustic, but this is a nice peaceful campground with a boat launch on Lake Washburn. It has picnic areas and vault toilets. Camping area is quite roomy and has unique upper and lower camping areas. There's a self-service payment drop box. Hiking/skiing trails are nearby.
Jul 25, 2023 · Jessica BuchiteThis place was ok. Not too isolated from others since other campers are maybe 200-400 feet away. The lake is shallow unless you go to certain places, and boat launch isnt that great either. But an ok place if you want to get out somewhere with your family or yourself and connect with nature.
Aug 21, 2018 · Vlad VecherNice and quiet during the week (wed-fri), probably only 3 other campers in the whole complex. Biggest disappointment was the prohibited use of ATV's in the campground even though we were close to the ATV trails, ATV riding was the main focus of the trip. ATV use is a big business in the area, making the inability to use them to/from campground puzzling. We may not be back because of this despite our good experience otherwise. Campsites vary in size but several were big enough for 2 vehicles/trailers and 2 tents. Vault toilets were ok, pumpable water was rusty but thats expected. There were plenty of deadfall around to collect firewood, although success may vary depending on specific site location.
