It provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while also engaging in the fascinating activity of diamond mining. This campground, nestled within a state park renowned for allowing visitors to search for real diamonds, offers a memorable getaway for individuals, families, and anyone looking for an outdoor adventure with a sparkling twist.
Surrounded by Natural Beauty and Unique Attractions: The Environment
Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground is situated in the picturesque landscape of southwestern Arkansas. While the reviews don't delve deeply into the specific flora and fauna of the campground itself, they highlight the accessibility of "walking trails" that lead to the "pleasant end at the Little Missouri River." This suggests a setting where campers can enjoy leisurely strolls through the natural surroundings and appreciate the beauty of the local waterways. The paved nature of these trails indicates ease of access for a variety of visitors. Furthermore, the mention of a "quick trip to Greeson Lake for additional dirt hiking trails and fishing" broadens the scope of outdoor activities available to campers, indicating the campground's proximity to diverse natural environments and recreational opportunities beyond the diamond field.
The primary draw of this location, of course, is its unique feature: the 37.5-acre plowed field where visitors can search for diamonds. This one-of-a-kind experience sets Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground apart from typical camping destinations. Imagine spending your day under the Arkansas sun, patiently sifting through the soil for a precious gem – a truly unforgettable activity that combines the thrill of discovery with the beauty of the outdoors.
Comfort and Convenience Amidst Adventure: Services and Amenities
Despite its adventurous appeal, Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground doesn't compromise on comfort and convenience, as highlighted by the positive reviews. Campers can expect "clean" campsites, providing a pleasant and hygienic environment for their stay. The availability of "bathrooms" that are "easily located, clean, with hot water!" is a significant amenity, ensuring a comfortable experience for all campers, regardless of the season. The added convenience of "electric outlets at the bathrooms to charge your phone" addresses a practical need in today's connected world, allowing you to stay in touch and keep your devices powered.
Water access is also well-provided for, with "water pumps" located at the campsites. The reviewer's note to "pump it a few times and turn it all the way up for water" offers a helpful tip for new arrivals. The presence of these water pumps at each site adds a level of self-sufficiency and convenience for campers. While "the wifi is spotty," its availability is still considered "a nice feature," offering occasional connectivity for those who need it.
Beyond the basic amenities, the mention of a "nice gift shop over at the mining area" suggests that campers can find souvenirs, tools for diamond hunting, and perhaps even snacks and other necessities within the park. This adds to the overall convenience and enhances the visitor experience.
Unique Features and Opportunities for Exploration
The most distinctive feature of Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground is undoubtedly its proximity to the diamond field. This provides campers with unparalleled access to a truly unique activity. Where else can you camp and have the chance to find and keep real diamonds? This feature alone makes it a compelling destination for locals seeking an extraordinary "camping near me" adventure.
Beyond the diamond field, the campground offers access to "easily accessible" and "paved" walking trails leading to the Little Missouri River. This provides opportunities for leisurely walks, enjoying the riverside scenery, and perhaps even some wildlife viewing. The presence of a "bench" at the end of the trail offers a peaceful spot to relax and soak in the natural surroundings.
The recommendation to "also visit the town square" in Murfreesboro and take a "quick trip to Greeson Lake for additional dirt hiking trails and fishing" highlights the campground's strategic location, offering easy access to other local attractions and recreational opportunities. This allows campers to diversify their activities and explore the wider region.

Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground Reviews
The camp sites were clean. The bathrooms were easily located, clean, with hot water! The neighbors were respectful and decent. The walking trails were easily accessible with a pleasant end at the Little Missouri River with a bench, they were also paved. Electric outlets at the bathrooms to charge your phone. The wifi is spotty, but a nice feature. The water pumps are on at the camp site, don't forget to pump it a few times and turn it all the way up for water. While here also visit the town square, and a quick trip to Greeson Lake for additional dirt hiking trails and fishing.
Apr 27, 2025 · Channelle ReinhardtThe campground is great, but the Wi-Fi is very flaky. They have a nice gift shop over at the mining area, and looking for a diamond is kind of fun. Definitely a great place to stay.
Apr 22, 2025 · Jerry WinegardThe campground is nice, a cool trail to the river, and a nice paved road make is better than most. If you are here for diamonds, you might be disappointed. The mine has been dug hard and often. You can tell a lot of dirt has been removed, and what remains is the gravel from millions of prospectors' boxes. It's still fun, though.
Apr 11, 2025 · Erin QuesnelExcellent campground well positioned campsites. Restrooms are clean, well taken care of. We stayed with the intention of digging for diamonds, worked out great. The only issue was the pool is closed Monday and Tuesday, wish it was open the whole time we were there. Pool, it's a pool with a few slides and water fountains, not a water park. Overall great campground.
