I was invited by a friend to camp here with a big group of people mountain bike riding. The bathrooms are really nice. The campsites were really good. And the entrance to the Campground is right across the street from the Withlacoochee paved trail. And about 3 miles down the trail is the entrance to Croom mountain bike trails. Not to mention about 2 miles down the trail the good neighbor trail to Brooksville intersects with the Withlacoochee. Had a great time camping, hanging out and riding bikes! - Jay Baker

Cypress Glen Campground Introduce

For local users searching for 'camping near me' in the Brooksville, Florida area, Cypress Glen Campground, located at 31475 Silver Lake Rd, Brooksville, FL 34602, USA, presents a camping option with notable advantages for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those interested in cycling. However, recent customer reviews also highlight areas where the campground appears to be facing challenges.

One of the significant environmental and locational features of Cypress Glen Campground is its direct proximity to the Withlacoochee State Trail, a well-regarded paved trail perfect for biking, walking, and running. According to a positive review, the "entrance to the Campground is right across the street from the Withlacoochee paved trail." This immediate access is a major draw for cyclists, as it allows for seamless integration of camping with trail activities. Furthermore, the campground's location offers convenient access to other popular biking destinations. The review mentions that the entrance to the Croom mountain bike trails is approximately 3 miles down the Withlacoochee trail. Additionally, the Good Neighbor Trail to Brooksville intersects with the Withlacoochee trail about 2 miles from the campground, providing even more options for exploration and longer rides.

The same positive review also commends the campground's facilities, specifically noting that "the bathrooms are really nice" and "the campsites were really good." This suggests that at least some aspects of the campground's infrastructure are well-maintained and contribute positively to the camping experience. The reviewer's overall experience was described as a "great time camping, hanging out and riding bikes!" indicating that the campground served as a suitable base for a group focused on outdoor recreation.

However, other recent reviews paint a less favorable picture of the current state of Cypress Glen Campground. Several concerns have been raised regarding the condition and management of the property. One reviewer detailed multiple issues with the shower facilities, stating "no handicap shows regular shower heads no shower bench plastic lawn chairs in the shower concrete dirty floors no heat in bathrooms." These points suggest potential accessibility limitations, inadequate amenities within the showers, cleanliness concerns, and a lack of comfort during colder periods.

Further criticisms relate to the campsites themselves. One reviewer noted that the "spots are too much on hills," making it a "real pain to hook up the camper." This indicates potential challenges with leveling RVs and ensuring a stable setup. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned that many of the "spots are also not the right direction to back in," suggesting poor site layout and potentially difficult maneuvering for some campers.

Concerns about the overall maintenance and management of the campground are also evident in the reviews. One reviewer reported finding "trash in camp site fire pit," indicating a lack of thorough site cleanup between visitors. Another pointed observation was "Maybe the beer bottles are the employees setting up the sites," which, if true, would suggest unprofessional behavior and a disregard for cleanliness. A significant concern was the apparent absence of authority figures, with one reviewer stating, "No park ranger ever in front office or on property." This lack of visible management presence could contribute to other issues reported.

Several reviews highlight problems with other campers' behavior, specifically mentioning "lots of drunk people drinking and leaving beer bottles everywhere" and instances of "people kinda park in roads making it hard to pull throw." These issues suggest a potential lack of enforcement of campground rules and a negative impact on the overall atmosphere and safety. The sentiment expressed in one review, "Sad to see such a nice place being let go," implies that the campground may have had a better reputation in the past and is currently suffering from neglect or mismanagement.

Based on the balance of reviews, local users considering Cypress Glen Campground for their 'camping near me' experience should be aware of both its prime location for accessing the Withlacoochee State Trail and the potential drawbacks related to site conditions, facilities maintenance, and the overall management and atmosphere of the campground. While the proximity to excellent biking trails is a significant advantage, the reported issues with the showers, campsites, cleanliness, and the behavior of some guests are important factors to consider.

Given the mixed feedback and the concerns raised in the more recent reviews, it would be prudent for potential visitors to contact Cypress Glen Campground directly at (352) 797-4140 or +1 352-797-4140 to inquire about the current conditions, any recent improvements or changes in management, and specific details about the campsites and facilities. Asking about accessibility features in the showers, the levelness and layout of the sites, and the enforcement of campground rules might help in making a more informed decision. Additionally, inquiring about any current promotional offers or discounts could also be beneficial.

In conclusion, Cypress Glen Campground offers a potentially attractive location for local campers, particularly those interested in biking the Withlacoochee State Trail and the Croom mountain bike trails. The positive feedback regarding the bathrooms and some campsites should be noted. However, the significant concerns raised about shower conditions, campsite suitability, cleanliness, and the overall management and atmosphere of the campground cannot be ignored. Prospective visitors should weigh the convenience of the location against these potential drawbacks and are strongly encouraged to contact the campground directly for the most current information before making a reservation. This will help ensure that their 'camping near me' experience at Cypress Glen Campground aligns with their expectations.
