This campground provides access to the renowned Deep Creek Hot Springs, promising stunning views and a connection with nature. For inquiries, you can contact them at (760) 515-7525 or +1 760-515-7525.
Environment and Atmosphere:
Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch is situated in a location that boasts "beautiful hot springs" and "great views," suggesting a naturally scenic environment. The presence of horses that guests can even feed indicates a rural setting, likely away from significant urban development. One reviewer who camped at "Ponderosa Pines" within the ranch mentioned "nice spots" and a "beautiful view," further emphasizing the natural appeal of the area. The landscape likely consists of varied terrain, given the mention of trails leading to the hot springs, some described as "knarly in spots." Be prepared for a natural, possibly arid environment typical of Southern California, with potential for varying temperatures depending on the season.
The atmosphere at Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch seems to be one that attracts those seeking a more natural and less manicured camping experience. While the hosts are described as "really nice," the emphasis on being "prepared to rough it" suggests a focus on the natural attractions rather than extensive campground amenities. The experience of hiking to the hot springs and the surrounding views are central to the appeal of this location.
Services and Amenities:
Based on customer reviews, the services and amenities at Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch are somewhat basic. It's important for potential campers to be aware of these limitations:
- Tent Sites: The campground offers "well maintained tent sites," suggesting designated areas for pitching tents. However, specific details about the size or features of these sites are not provided.
- Potable Water: A significant positive is the availability of "potable water," which is essential for camping.
- Toilets: There seems to be a limited number of toilet facilities, with one reviewer mentioning "just one flush toilet" serving the campground. The condition of these facilities is described as "looked okay."
- Showers: Shower facilities appear to be rudimentary. "Solar showers only work during the day," indicating a reliance on solar energy for hot water. Additionally, there is mention of "one non-solar shower," but one reviewer encountered issues with the "propane water heater setup" for this shower and found no instructions, resulting in "sponge baths."
- No Alternative Trail (Potentially): One reviewer at the "Ponderosa Pines" campsite reported that an alternative, less steep trail to the hot springs, as mentioned by the host, did not seem to exist or was poorly marked.
- Trail Markings: The trail to the hot springs is described as "poorly marked," with dirt bike trails crisscrossing, potentially leading to confusion.
The reviews highlight the need to be self-sufficient and prepared for basic facilities. While potable water is a significant plus, the limited and potentially unreliable shower and toilet facilities are important considerations for comfort, especially for longer stays.
Features and Benefits:
The primary feature and significant benefit of Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch is its access to the natural Deep Creek Hot Springs themselves. The reviews consistently mention the "beautiful hot springs" and the overall experience of soaking in them. Additional features and potential benefits include:
- Scenic Views: The location offers "great views" and "beautiful views" from the campsites, enhancing the overall camping experience.
- Interaction with Animals: The opportunity to "feed the horses apples" provides a unique and enjoyable experience for animal lovers.
- Hiking Opportunities: The presence of trails to the hot springs and around the area suggests opportunities for hiking and exploring the natural landscape. However, as noted, the trail to the hot springs can be challenging and poorly marked.
- A Sense of Adventure: For those who enjoy a more rugged and less predictable camping experience, the limited amenities and challenging trail might be part of the appeal.
However, potential drawbacks include the challenging access to the hot springs, requiring crossing a "3ft deep pond ice cold water" both ways, and the potentially difficult-to-navigate trails. The experience at the hot springs themselves might also vary depending on the time of day and sun exposure, as mentioned by one reviewer who found them not looking like the pictures and cold due to the mountain shade.
Promotional Information:
The provided information does not include any specific promotional offers or discounts for Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch. Potential local users would need to contact the campground directly at (760) 515-7525 or +1 760-515-7525 to inquire about any current specials, seasonal rates, or group discounts that might be available. It's also advisable to ask about any specific requirements or recommendations for camping at the ranch and accessing the hot springs.
Given the somewhat mixed reviews, it would be beneficial for the management to address the issues raised, such as providing clear trail markings and instructions for using the propane water heater. Any improvements in these areas could significantly enhance the camping experience and potentially lead to more positive feedback.
Important Tips from Reviewers:
The customer reviews provide some valuable tips for those considering camping at Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch:
- Download Offline Maps: Due to potential lack of cell service in the area, it is crucial to "download the area on Google Maps app in advance."
- Download Trail Map: "Download the map of the trail to the springs on Alltrails" to aid navigation.

- Prepare for Cold Water Crossing: Be prepared to cross a "3ft deep pond ice cold water" to access the hot springs.

- Limited Host Assistance (Potentially): One reviewer reported difficulty reaching the host for assistance when lost.
Conclusion:
Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch offers a unique "Camping Near Me" experience for those in the Apple Valley, CA, area seeking access to natural hot springs and scenic views. However, potential campers should be well-informed about the somewhat rustic nature of the campground and the challenges associated with accessing the hot springs and navigating the trails. While the hosts are reportedly nice and potable water is available, the limited and potentially unreliable toilet and shower facilities, along with the difficult trail conditions, require careful consideration and preparation. By contacting the campground directly at (760) 515-7525 or +1 760-515-7525 and heeding the advice from previous visitors, local users can make an informed decision about whether this unique camping destination aligns with their preferences and preparedness for a more rugged outdoor adventure.

Deep Creek Hot Springs Bowen Ranch Reviews
Beautiful hot springs, great views, really nice hosts, well maintained tent sites (just be prepared to rough it with toilets/showers). They do have potable water and we even got to feed the horses apples!A couple tips:1. Download the area on Google Maps app in advance2. Download the map of the trail to the springs on Alltrails3. Directions: first, find the intersection of Central Rd and Ocotillo Way (both paved). Then, find the intersection of Ocotillo Way and Bowen Ranch Road. From there, follow the directions on the website. With a 2WD mini-bus, we were fine on the dirt road.4. Solar showers only work during the daySeems there’s just one flush toilet and one non-solar shower to serve the campground. Looked okay, but we couldn’t figure out how to use the propane water heater setup - an instruction guide would have been awesome. It was sponge baths for us!

Dec 07, 2024 · Kim FlandreauThey have excellent customer service here, offer decent glamping sites, and even have showers and generators for electricity in the tent. I also appreciate they are nudist friendly so if you so wish you can roam around anywhere here completely nude. They also have breakfast between 8am and 11am at your request, zip lines, and at additional cost access to a recreation room with pool table, showers, sauna, spa, and bonfire pits. This is an excellent space to escape the city and admire the desert wilderness.
Sep 23, 2024 · Never ForgetTweeker run glamping! weird vibes. Nit the right spirit for healthy hot springs community . Check parking up at Mike's next door original Bowen Ranch on 6221 Bowen Ranch Rd.
Apr 19, 2025 · Andrew TailorThese people are destroying hard to find nature spots building glamping club med experiences for instagram influencers. They literally bought the adjacent lot to block the trail of the original Bowen Ranch on 6221 Bowen Ranch Rd. Instead of just sharing access and competing in a creative way, they are using aggressive tactics to discredit the original Ranch owner. You can still access Deep Creek Hot Springs from the original location next door, which is cheaper and the original! See map.
