The availability of different sites to choose from suggests a varied landscape within the campground, allowing campers to select a spot that best suits their needs and preferences.
The services and features at Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake cater primarily to those who appreciate a more self-sufficient camping style, often referred to as boondocking. A standout feature, positively highlighted by a reviewer, is the presence of "best vault toilets I've ever seen," indicating a commitment to cleanliness in their restroom facilities. Water is available throughout the park for filling tanks, which is a significant convenience for RVers and others needing a water source. Each campsite is equipped with a fire pit and picnic table, essential amenities for enjoying outdoor cooking and dining. The campground is managed by a "super friendly camp host," who contributes to a welcoming and positive atmosphere for visitors. It's worth noting that the campground is situated on a hill, which, while offering potentially scenic views, can make finding a perfectly flat site for vans or RVs a bit challenging, as mentioned by one reviewer.
Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake offers a total of 20 sites, with the camp host indicating that the campground is "never full," suggesting a good chance of finding a spot even without prior reservations, especially during off-peak times. While the campground can accommodate larger rigs, with four sites specifically designated for them, it is recommended that these rigs do not exceed 35 feet in length due to the terrain and site configurations. This information is crucial for RV travelers planning their "camping near me" experience. The availability of water for filling tanks supports longer stays and greater self-sufficiency for campers.
One of the most attractive features of Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake is its affordability. At a rate of $8 per night, it offers a very budget-friendly "camping near me" option. Furthermore, for those who possess a National Park Pass, there is a significant discount of half price, bringing the cost down to just $4 per night. This exceptional value makes it an incredibly appealing choice for budget-conscious travelers and those who frequently visit National Parks and have the pass. The combination of a peaceful setting and such low rates makes Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake a hidden gem for those in the know.
While the overall experience at Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake is highly positive, one minor downside mentioned by a reviewer is that the roads around the park can be a "little dusty." This is a common characteristic of more natural, less developed campgrounds and might be something to consider for those particularly sensitive to dust or concerned about keeping their vehicles and gear clean. However, this seems to be a relatively minor inconvenience compared to the overall benefits of the campground.
In conclusion, Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake in Susanville, California, offers a peaceful and affordable "camping near me" experience in a naturally beautiful setting near Eagle Lake. Key highlights include exceptionally clean vault toilets, a friendly and helpful camp host, the availability of water for filling tanks, fire pits, and picnic tables at each of the 20 sites. The campground is generally not full, making it a reliable option for those seeking a last-minute getaway. The incredibly low nightly rate of $8, with a further 50% discount for National Park Pass holders, provides exceptional value. While the hilly terrain might make finding a perfectly level spot slightly challenging and the roads can be dusty, the overall tranquility and affordability make Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake a highly recommended destination for those who enjoy boondocking in a serene environment.

Eagle Lake - North Eagle Lake Reviews
Best vault toilets I've ever seen. Super friendly camp host. Came here mid-week at the end of August and the place was empty. So peaceful and relaxing. Nice shade from the trees and lots of different sites to choose from. Only downside was the campground is on a hill so finding a nice flat site for a van was a bit tough.
Oct 11, 2024 · Aaron PriceIf you like to boondock in peace this is the place. I'm in a 26ft class C, and with 20 sites to choose from there were 3 other campers and the host. The host says he is never full so always a site. They have 4 site's for larger rigs but would not recommend any over 35ft. Water is available to fill your tanks through out the park, fire pit, picnic tables, extremely clean vaulted toilets. At $8 a night and half off with National Park Pass for $4 you can't go wrong I give it 4 out of 5 stars only because it's a little dusty on the roads around the park.
Jul 11, 2021 · Guss GilhamWe didn’t stay at this campground, but we did boondock at Rocky Point East. On our way there, we made a pit stop in North Eagle to check out the scene. Thank goodness we did, because we met the hosts, Phil and Wendy, who are absolute gems! Phil told us they had water and garbage services, and we were more than welcome to use them. Now, let’s talk bathrooms. The pit toilets at North Eagle Lake are IMMACULATE. Seriously, I’ve never seen pit toilets this fancy. And it gets better – Phil and Wendy also take care of the pit toilets at Rocky Point, and they’re just as nice.North Eagle is only $8 a night if you decide to stay, and it’s totally worth it. We can’t wait to come back to the Eagle Lake area!---------------------------------------------We’re a small-town Iowa couple who traded the Midwest for a life of adventure on the road since August 2021. Sep 29, 2024 · Dairrian FreeseWe use this Campground for a great place to sleep on our way to Oregon. $8.00 a night, its clean and campsites are far apart from one another. There is a Campground host and is open to the first week in November, weather allowing. It is not on the lake, but a nice view from Campground, and nicely treaded.
