Echo River Farms Introduce
For local users in Oregon searching for "camping near me," it's important to be aware of the current status of Echo River Farms, located at 10 Sprague St, Echo, OR 97826, USA. Recent information obtained through direct contact with the owner indicates that Echo River Farms is currently closed down due to significant flooding in the past couple of years, which has washed out the area. The owners are in the process of rebuilding the campground, with hopes of it becoming a nice place in the future, provided they can mitigate the flood zone issues.
Given this information, a detailed introduction regarding the current environment, services, and features of Echo River Farms as an operational campground is not possible at this time. However, we can glean insights from a past positive review and the owner's statement to understand its potential appeal to local campers once the rebuilding is complete.
One customer described Echo River Farms as a "simple wooded campground on a farm," which suggests a unique camping experience that blends the tranquility of a natural wooded setting with the charm and atmosphere of a working farm. This type of environment can be particularly appealing to local users looking for a peaceful and perhaps more rustic camping experience away from more crowded or amenity-heavy campgrounds. The mention of it being "my kind of place" indicates that it likely offered a more laid-back and nature-focused atmosphere.
The same reviewer also praised the owners as "very nice, helpful folks," highlighting a positive aspect of the service provided at Echo River Farms. Friendly and accommodating hosts can significantly enhance a camping experience, making guests feel welcome and providing assistance when needed. This personal touch could be a key feature that attracts local campers seeking a more personable and community-oriented camping environment.
A particularly memorable aspect for this reviewer was that their "cat was fascinated with the cows," which strongly suggests that Echo River Farms is indeed located on or adjacent to a farm with livestock. This could be a unique and engaging feature, especially for families with children or pet owners who appreciate the novelty of farm animals. It also implies a rural setting where the sounds and sights of farm life might be part of the camping experience.
Considering the potential appeal to local users searching for "camping near me" once Echo River Farms reopens, we can speculate on the types of environment, services, and features it might offer based on the available information:
- Environment (Future Potential): A simple, wooded area likely situated on or near a working farm in Echo, Oregon. This would offer a blend of natural woodland scenery with the pastoral ambiance of a farm, including potential interactions with farm animals like cows. The location in Echo suggests proximity to the agricultural landscapes of northeastern Oregon. The ongoing rebuilding efforts indicate an intention to restore and potentially improve the camping area, hopefully taking into account the flood risks mentioned.
- Services (Future Potential): While not explicitly detailed, the positive review suggests a welcoming and helpful host. Basic campground services would likely include campsites suitable for tents and possibly RVs (though this is not confirmed). Given the "simple" description, amenities might be more basic, focusing on essentials like water access, waste disposal, and possibly restroom facilities. The presence of a farm might also offer unique aspects, such as the opportunity to purchase fresh farm produce (if applicable).
- Features (Future Potential): The wooded setting would likely offer shade and a natural camping atmosphere. The presence of farm animals, particularly cows, could be a unique attraction. Depending on the farm's activities, there might be opportunities for observing or learning about farming practices. The helpfulness of the owners suggests a more personalized and attentive service. The potential for a quieter, less developed camping experience could be a key feature for those seeking a respite from more amenity-rich campgrounds.
- Promotional Information (Future Potential): Once reopened, Echo River Farms could attract local campers by emphasizing its unique blend of a wooded farm setting, the friendly and helpful owners, and the potential for a peaceful and memorable experience. Highlighting the novelty of camping near farm animals could be a draw for families and pet owners (if pets are allowed, beyond the reviewer's cat). They might also promote the simplicity and natural beauty of the campground for those seeking a more rustic getaway. Given the past flooding issues, any measures taken to mitigate future risks and ensure a safe camping environment should also be prominently communicated to reassure potential visitors. Local partnerships with farm-to-table initiatives or agritourism efforts could further enhance its appeal.
For local users actively searching for "camping near me" in the Echo, Oregon area, Echo River Farms is currently not an option due to the ongoing rebuilding process. However, it holds the potential to be a charming and unique camping destination in the future, offering a simple wooded environment on a farm with friendly hosts and the novel experience of being near livestock. Local campers should keep an eye out for updates on its reopening and consider it as a potential spot for a memorable camping trip once the rebuilding is complete and any flood zone concerns are addressed.
To stay informed about the progress of the rebuilding efforts and the potential reopening of Echo River Farms, local users can try contacting the owners using the provided phone numbers. This would be the most direct way to get updates and learn about any future plans for the campground. In the meantime, those looking for immediate "camping near me" in the Echo area should explore other available campgrounds and outdoor recreation sites in the region.

Echo River Farms Reviews
Called the phone number provided and spoke with the owner. Currently closed down because the last couple years of flooding have washed out the area and there are in the process of rebuilding it. Looks like it will be a nice place someday if they can stay out of the flood zone area. Hope to check it out some day
