Pendleton KOA Journey Introduce
For local users in the Pendleton, Oregon area searching for "camping near me," the Pendleton KOA Journey, located on SE 3rd Street, offers a clean and well-maintained option for both overnight stays and longer visits. As part of the Kampgrounds of America (KOA) network, this campground provides a familiar standard of amenities and a reputation for quality. Based on recent customer reviews, visitors can expect a safe environment, decent facilities, and a convenient location, making it a popular choice for travelers and workers in the area.
Environment and Ambiance:
The Pendleton KOA Journey is described as a "very nice park" with several appealing environmental features. The presence of "paved roads" throughout the campground is a significant plus, ensuring easy navigation and reducing dust. Many campsites boast "cement pads," which provide a level and clean surface for RVs and can also be beneficial for tent setups. The fact that "most sites have trees" suggests a shaded and more aesthetically pleasing camping environment, offering relief from the sun and enhancing the overall ambiance.
One reviewer noted "little noise," indicating a generally peaceful atmosphere within the campground. This is particularly valuable for those seeking a restful stopover or a relaxing camping experience. While another reviewer mentioned the presence of "lots of full-timers/ workers in the area," this did not seem to detract from the overall safety or quietness of the park. The combination of paved roads, cement pads, and trees contributes to a well-organized and comfortable setting.
The landscape of the campsites themselves is described as being on "gravel/volcanic cinder." While this provides good drainage and a stable surface, campers, especially those in tents, might want to consider bringing extra padding for comfort. The surrounding area of Pendleton offers views, although they are simply described as "nice" without further elaboration.
Services and Amenities:
The Pendleton KOA Journey offers a range of services and amenities typical of KOA campgrounds, ensuring a comfortable stay for various types of campers. The presence of "electrical and water hookups" (inferred from the context of RVs) is a standard offering, catering to the needs of recreational vehicles. While sewer hookups are not explicitly mentioned, they are often available at KOA locations and might be worth confirming upon booking.
The bathroom facilities are described with some detail. They are "oddly grouped in one communal entrance and three separate bathrooms." This unique layout might require a short walk to access the individual bathrooms after entering the communal area. The showers are reported as "decent," suggesting they meet basic needs adequately. However, the bathrooms are also described as "tight," indicating that space might be limited.
The campground is noted as being "safe," which is an important consideration for travelers. The presence of full-timers and workers might contribute to a sense of community and security within the park. For pet owners, it's worth noting that there are "lots of large dogs" present. While this generally indicates a pet-friendly environment, owners of smaller dogs might need to be mindful during walks, as one reviewer mentioned having to "tune our walks so as not to create a ruckus" due to their smaller dogs' reactions.
Other common KOA amenities that are likely available but not explicitly mentioned in the reviews include Wi-Fi access, laundry facilities, and possibly a camp store or office with staff to assist guests. KOA campgrounds often also feature recreational amenities such as playgrounds or common areas, but these are not detailed in the provided information.

Pendleton KOA Journey Reviews
4/18/25 KOA, Pendleton OR, $60Clean campground, lots of full-timers/ workers in the area. Safe, though lots of large dogs. Have to tune our walks so as not to create a ruckus (ours are smaller dogs that want to act big). Bathrooms are oddly grouped in one communal entrance and three separate bathrooms. Decent showers, tight bathroom. Sites are on gravel/volcanic cinder. Pavement for driving tho and that's a plus. And no train noise.
Apr 29, 2025 · Kent ArnoldVery nice park...paved roads, cement pads, super clean, most sites have trees. Little noise, nice views. Perfect stop over. Would return.
May 07, 2025 · Poppy BorlandThis review is long overdue! I stayed at this KOA for about 3 months this past summer/fall while working as a travel nurse in Pendleton. Kana was so accommodating and kind. All the staff were helpful and friendly too. Andrea even let me borrow her jump starter after I left my van doors open too long! She saved the day! The grounds were nice with beautiful views and the bathrooms were always clean. Great little KOA!
Jan 24, 2025 · JessicaThis was our first time visiting this KOA and it was delightful. We needed a one nighter on our long trip to Tucson. Super easy set up in a well organized park.UPDATE: We stayed again one year later and it was still wonderful. Super clean well organized park.
Dec 22, 2024 · RODDY MILLERThe experience I had with trying to get a place there was positive! Working with the staff was pleasant 🤠. Now that I've seen this place in person and seen the workings of it, I can tell you that this has been the best experience of my life in a living situation! Living with my wife alone in a humongous fifth wheel, that can big accommodated by a park like this with multiple accommodations including free showers, great dog park, awesome playground for the children, vivacious views, and an overall great experience, has taught me that this place is the place to be! If you are traveling and needing a place to stay I would call the KOA! The manager here has been more than accommodating. There has been a learning curve for us as new fifth wheel owners. We didn't know all of the things that were required for this thing to run properly. We are figuring it out day to day. Apparently we have some aesthetic things that need to be fixed on our fifth wheel as well. These pieces of knowledge don't just come by through owning a fifth wheel but also through hearing about different things that need to be done by the staff as well as the managers. Without them we would be lost. I want to personally thank the managers and the staff for being so gracious and even asking for a cigarette every once in awhile from them has been just friendly!
