Everett Slough Campground Introduce
For local users in the Metaline Falls, Washington area searching for "camping near me," Everett Slough Campground, located at Co Hwy 2975, Metaline Falls, WA 99153, USA, presents a potentially appealing option. While the provided information is somewhat limited, a review from a recent visitor offers valuable insights into the campground's environment, features, and proximity to local amenities. This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview based on this information to help local users make an informed decision about their next camping trip.
The Environment of Everett Slough Campground
The review describes Everett Slough Campground as "pretty small," which could be advantageous for those seeking a quieter and more intimate camping experience compared to larger, more crowded campgrounds. Despite its size, the reviewer notes that the campground is "very clean," suggesting that maintaining a tidy environment is a priority. This is a significant positive for campers who value cleanliness and comfort during their outdoor stay. Furthermore, the reviewer appreciated that "each camping site felt a little bit more private than many camp sites do." This sense of privacy is a desirable feature for many campers, as it allows for a more secluded and relaxing experience, minimizing the feeling of being too close to neighboring campsites.
An interesting environmental feature highlighted in the review is the abundance of natural edibles: "Lots of huckleberry and wild raspberries growing throughout the property, which made for some fun foraging." This presents a unique opportunity for campers to engage in a bit of wild food gathering, adding an element of adventure and connection with the natural surroundings. However, it's crucial for campers to be certain of their identification of edible plants and to forage responsibly and sustainably, respecting local regulations and leaving enough for wildlife and other visitors.
The reviewer also mentions the campground's convenient proximity to both Kettle Falls and the city of Republic. This location offers a blend of natural beauty and access to urban amenities if needed. The surrounding area of Metaline Falls and the broader Pend Oreille County in northeastern Washington is known for its scenic landscapes, including forests, rivers, and mountains, providing ample opportunities for outdoor recreation beyond the campground itself.
Potential Services and Amenities
While the review doesn't explicitly detail all the services and amenities offered at Everett Slough Campground, we can infer some likely provisions based on general campground practices and the reviewer's comments. These might include:
- Individual Campsites: Each of the "pretty small" number of sites would likely include a designated area for tents or small RVs, potentially with a level parking space.
- Fire Rings: The reviewer mentioned a discrepancy regarding fire regulations ("Website stated that fires were OK however, upon arrival, there was a fire ban"), indicating the presence of fire rings at the campsites. However, it's crucial for future campers to verify current fire restrictions before planning to have a campfire.
- Picnic Tables: It is highly probable that each campsite is equipped with a picnic table for convenient outdoor dining and gathering.
- Toilet Facilities: The cleanliness of the campground suggests the presence of maintained toilet facilities, which are likely to be vault toilets in a smaller campground setting.
- Water Source: Access to potable water is a fundamental requirement for campgrounds. While not explicitly mentioned, it is likely available at one or more locations within the campground. Campers might want to confirm the source and availability of drinking water beforehand.
- Waste Disposal: Provisions for trash collection and disposal are typically provided to maintain the cleanliness of the campground.
Given the smaller size of the campground, extensive amenities like showers, laundry facilities, or recreational centers are less likely but not impossible. Local users seeking such amenities might need to consider larger campgrounds in the vicinity or utilize facilities in nearby towns.
Key Features and Highlights
Based on the available information, Everett Slough Campground offers several noteworthy features for local campers:
- Cleanliness: The "very clean campground" aspect is a significant draw for those who prioritize hygiene in their outdoor accommodations.
- Privacy: The "a little bit more private than many camp sites do" feature enhances the appeal for campers seeking a more secluded experience.
- Foraging Opportunities: The abundance of huckleberries and wild raspberries offers a unique and enjoyable activity for those interested in foraging (with due caution and responsible practices).
- Proximity to Local Towns: The campground's location relatively close to both Kettle Falls and Republic provides convenient access to amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants, and potentially other services.
- Family-Friendly Activities Nearby: The reviewer specifically mentions family-friendly activities in Republic, such as fossil hunting, which could be a significant attraction for families with children looking for engaging outings during their camping trip.
- Access to Good Coffee: The recommendation of "very good coffee at Sparkys" in Republic highlights a local amenity that might be appreciated by many campers.
- Scenic Location: The overall sentiment of the review ("Very beautiful place, I expect we will be back again") suggests that the campground and its surrounding area offer a visually appealing natural environment.
Important Considerations and Potential Drawbacks
The review also points out a crucial issue: the discrepancy between the website information regarding fires and the actual fire ban upon arrival. This underscores the importance for local users to verify current conditions and regulations directly with the campground management, especially concerning fire restrictions, which can change due to weather conditions and local ordinances. The phone number provided, (509) 536-1200 or +1 509-536-1200, offers a direct way to contact the campground for the most up-to-date information.
The "pretty small" size of the campground could be a limitation for larger groups or those seeking a wider range of on-site facilities. However, for individuals, couples, or small families looking for a quieter and more private setting, this could be a benefit.
Promotional Information
The provided information does not include any specific promotional offers for Everett Slough Campground. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal rates, or special packages should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiring about any off-season rates or deals for local residents might also be worthwhile.
Conclusion for Local "Camping Near Me" Seekers
Everett Slough Campground near Metaline Falls appears to be a clean, relatively private, and conveniently located option for local users searching for "camping near me." Its unique features, such as the potential for berry foraging and its proximity to the amenities and activities in Republic and Kettle Falls, add to its appeal. The positive sentiment of a returning visitor further suggests a pleasant camping experience. However, local users should be mindful of the potential for outdated information on the campground's website, as highlighted by the fire ban issue, and are strongly encouraged to contact the management directly to confirm current regulations, services, availability, and any potential promotional offers before making a booking. The small size of the campground might make it necessary to book in advance, especially during peak season. Overall, Everett Slough Campground seems to offer a charming and well-situated base for exploring the natural beauty and local attractions of northeastern Washington.

Everett Slough Campground Reviews
Pretty small, but very clean campground. I liked that each camping site felt a little bit more private than many camp sites do. Lots of huckleberry and wild raspberries growing throughout the property, which made for some fun foraging. Website stated that fires were OK however, upon arrival, there was a fire ban. Not a huge deal, but wish the website had been updated with accurate information. Relatively close to both kettle Falls and to the city of Republic, which have some nice amenities if you need. We were here with small children, and in Republic, there are some fun activities like fossil hunting. Also, very good coffee at Sparkys. Very beautiful place, I expect we will be back again.
