Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground Introduce
For local residents and outdoor enthusiasts in Idaho seeking a convenient "camping near me" experience, the Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground, located near Council, offers a blend of natural beauty and accessibility. Situated right off Highway 95, this campground provides a straightforward option for those looking to quickly escape into nature. Combining the features of a picnic site and a campground, it caters to both day visitors and overnight campers seeking a local outdoor retreat.
The environment surrounding Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground is characterized by the pleasant scents of pine, the beauty of blooming dogwood and wild roses (in season), and the presence of a "cool creek" nearby. The campsites are designed to offer a degree of privacy, with reviewers noting that while you can hear other campers, the sites are spaced in a way that prevents direct visual contact. This creates a more secluded and intimate camping experience. The sounds of nature are also a prominent feature, with one reviewer mentioning the vibrant birdsong. While the campground is located close to Highway 95, resulting in road noise during the day, it reportedly quiets down significantly at night, allowing for a more peaceful sleep. The proximity to the Weiser River Trail is another significant environmental feature, providing easy access for hiking and biking enthusiasts to explore the scenic surroundings along the river.
Based on the available reviews, the services at Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground are somewhat basic but cater to essential camping needs. Potable water is available via a hand pump, specifically noted to be located up by campsite #11. Restroom facilities consist of pit toilets or vault toilets, which are mentioned as being clean by one reviewer. Importantly, it is explicitly stated that there is NO trash service provided at the campground. This means that all campers are responsible for packing out all of their trash to maintain the cleanliness of the site. The presence of a welcoming camp host is also highlighted in one review, suggesting a point of contact for information and assistance during your stay. While not a service in the traditional sense, the availability of a camp host can significantly enhance the camping experience.
The features of Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground are diverse and appealing to various types of campers. The individual campsites offer a good level of privacy, a significant advantage for those seeking a more secluded experience. The proximity to a "cool creek" provides a refreshing natural element and potential for some water-related activities (depending on creek conditions and regulations). The direct access to the Weiser River Trail is a major feature for those interested in hiking or biking along this scenic path. The pine scent and the blooming flowers (in season) contribute to a pleasant sensory experience. For those seeking weather information, one reviewer noted that the weather in Bliss, Idaho, is indicative of the conditions at the campground. The combination of picnic sites and campsites makes this location versatile for both day trips and overnight stays. The road accessibility, being right off Highway 95, is a significant feature for ease of arrival and departure, although it does come with the trade-off of daytime road noise.
In terms of promotional information, there are no specific discounts or special offers mentioned in the provided reviews. However, the inherent "promotion" for local users lies in the campground's convenient location, its natural amenities (creek access, privacy between sites), and its direct access to the popular Weiser River Trail. For individuals and families looking for a quick and easy "camping near me" option that combines natural beauty with recreational opportunities, Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground offers a compelling choice. The welcoming camp host further enhances this appeal, providing a personal touch to the camping experience. The fact that it's located right off a major highway also makes it easily accessible for those in the surrounding areas.
However, it is crucial for prospective campers to be aware of certain considerations highlighted in the reviews. The daytime road noise from Highway 95 is a significant factor that may impact the camping experience for some, although it does subside at night. The lack of trash service requires campers to be diligent in packing out all of their waste. While water is available via a hand pump, campers should ensure they bring appropriate containers for storage and purification if needed. The restroom facilities are basic (pit or vault toilets), which is typical for many campgrounds but something to be aware of for comfort considerations. The mention of bears being present on nearby trails, though not coming down to the campground, suggests that campers should be aware of wildlife and take appropriate precautions, such as proper food storage.
For local users seeking "camping near me" that offers a blend of accessibility, natural beauty, and recreational opportunities like access to the Weiser River Trail, Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground is a noteworthy option. The privacy between campsites, the presence of a creek, and the pleasant natural environment are significant draws. However, potential campers should be prepared for daytime road noise and the responsibility of managing their own trash. By being aware of these factors and the available (albeit basic) services, local outdoor enthusiasts can make an informed decision and potentially enjoy a convenient and refreshing camping experience at Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground.

Evergreen Picnic Site and Campground Reviews
I stayed in #9. The road is very noisy during the day, but at night it quiets down. Sites are great because you can’t see each other(you can hear each other). Pine scent, dogwood and wild roses in bloom. Sites are right off 95. If you want to know the weather, it’s Bliss, Idaho. Camp host was welcoming. She said bears can be up on trail, but don’t come down to campground. Only gave it 4 stars because of road noise. Birds are singing up a storm. Merlin heard four more while I’m typing this. There is water up by #11. Pit toilet.
Jul 01, 2024 · Jane RuppGreat campground. Clean. Next to the cool creek. The road noise isn't bad. Hand pump water. Couple of vault toilets. NO Trash service. It's a great spot to jump on the Weiser River Trail.
Jul 24, 2022 · Jesse FranzenThe sites are fairly private. We selected a sight farther from the highway. There’s access to Weiser’s River Trail. We went North and it was a pleasant ride with trees and bridges to cross the river. No hook-ups or wi-fi. Would stay again.
Aug 11, 2022 · LB’s and LuluSite's were reserved and people did not show says on web site first come first served( did not understand that) camp host was not in all night. small camp ground, $10 half off with National Park Pass, only 9 site's for RV'S all paved sites, have more for tent camping, would not take a large rig in here 30ft max including tow vehicle. I'm in a 26ft class C and was ok, the turn around is pretty tight though.1 Vaulted toilet, no hookup's of any kind, fire pit picnic table, really close to hwy other side of river, all in all nice place for over night stop
Jul 11, 2021 · Guss GilhamBeautiful place to set up a tent, set up a camper, roast marshmallows and hot dogs and have a good time. There's quick access to the Weiser river trail and abundant landscape all around.
