Goose Creek Campground Introduce
For local residents in Washington State seeking a versatile "camping near me" experience that caters to both relaxation in nature and adventurous activities, Goose Creek Campground, located off NF-6100 in Leavenworth, WA 98826, presents a compelling option. Situated near the popular Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, this campground offers a unique blend of accessibility to local attractions and immersion in the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Reviews from campers highlight its spacious sites, access to the river and extensive trail systems, and its welcoming atmosphere for various outdoor enthusiasts, including those with dirt bikes.
The environment of Goose Creek Campground is characterized by its wooded setting and its proximity to the river. The campground is divided into an upper section near the entrance and a lower section situated right by the river, offering different camping experiences. The lower campground, preferred by at least one reviewer, provides direct access to the river, likely offering scenic views and the soothing sounds of flowing water. This riverside location would be ideal for those seeking a tranquil and picturesque camping spot. The presence of a river also suggests potential opportunities for activities such as wading or simply enjoying the natural water feature. The surrounding area boasts numerous trails that are reportedly in great shape for both dirt biking and running/hiking, indicating a diverse landscape suitable for exploration and outdoor exercise. The campground serves as a gateway to the natural beauty around Leavenworth, known for its stunning mountain scenery and access to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
In terms of services and features, Goose Creek Campground appears to offer spacious campsites. One reviewer with a 27-foot travel trailer stayed in site 5D, which is described as a double site. While this particular site cost more, the reviewer considered it the best in the campground. The availability of a double site suggests that some sites can accommodate larger groups or offer extra space. The fact that the campground is "dirt bike friendly" is a significant feature, indicating that it welcomes off-road vehicle enthusiasts and provides access to trails suitable for dirt biking. While one reviewer who didn't bring their bikes noted that the noise and smell of two-stroke oil from the occasional dirt biker did not bother them, this is something for local users seeking absolute peace and quiet to consider, especially during times when more dirt bikers might be present.
The reviews also provide insights into the general atmosphere and occupancy of the campground. One camper who stayed for a week in late September found the campground to be mostly empty, enhancing the feeling of solitude and connection with nature. Another reviewer who stayed for a week in the summer also reported the campground being mostly empty during their Monday to Friday visit. This suggests that during certain times of the year, particularly weekdays or the shoulder seasons, campers might enjoy a more secluded experience. However, it's important to note that these experiences might not be representative of peak season weekends.
While the reviews highlight the positive aspects of Goose Creek Campground, they also mention a couple of limitations. One reviewer who stayed for a week in the summer noted that campfires were not allowed during their visit due to high heat and dry conditions. This indicates that fire restrictions might be in place at certain times of the year based on environmental factors, which is something local users should check before their visit, especially during the warmer months. Additionally, the same reviewer mentioned that fishing was not permitted during their stay, although the reason for this was also attributed to the dry conditions. For local anglers planning to fish, it would be essential to verify the current fishing regulations and access to the river at the time of their visit.
Despite these limitations, Goose Creek Campground offers several appealing features. Its location near Leavenworth provides a gateway to the town's unique Bavarian charm, offering opportunities for dining, shopping, and exploring its cultural attractions, although the campground itself is situated in a more natural setting away from the immediate bustle of the town. The extensive trail system accessible from the campground is a major draw for those who enjoy hiking, running, and, of course, dirt biking. The option to choose between the upper and lower campgrounds allows visitors to select an environment that best suits their preferences, whether it's closer to the entrance or right by the river.
One reviewer mentioned a 2.5-hour drive north to the old mining town of Trinity, noting that while the destination itself had little to see due to being private property, the drive offered opportunities to scout out twelve other campgrounds along the way. This suggests that Goose Creek Campground could also serve as a starting point for exploring other camping options and scenic routes in the region, appealing to local users who enjoy discovering new outdoor destinations.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Goose Creek Campground based on the provided reviews. It would also be beneficial to ask about the specific amenities offered at each campsite (e.g., fire pits, picnic tables) and whether there are any specific guidelines or recommendations for dirt bike usage within the campground and on the trails.
In conclusion, Goose Creek Campground appears to be a solid choice for local residents seeking a "camping near me" experience near Leavenworth that combines access to natural beauty with opportunities for adventure. Its riverside location, extensive trail system suitable for hiking and dirt biking, and generally peaceful atmosphere, especially during off-peak times, make it an attractive option. While potential limitations such as seasonal fire and fishing restrictions, and the presence of dirt bikers, should be considered, the overall positive feedback suggests a rewarding outdoor getaway. Local users are encouraged to contact the campground directly for the most up-to-date information and to book their adventure in this scenic part of Washington State.

Goose Creek Campground Reviews
Solid place to camp at! We camped 9/27/19 to 9/29/19. We only had one other person pull in after us the first night and the were going the next day. Having a campground to yourself is so worth the price of admission. Camped in spot 5D with our 27 ft travel trailer. It is a double site but most are down by the river so it cost about double to stay each night but the spot is the best one in my opinion. It's a dirt bike friendly campground which we didn't have the bikes with us and the noise and smell of two stroke oil didn't bother us one bit. We'll have the bring the bikes next time! The trails in and around the campground are in great shape, for dirt bikes or running, got a nice trailing run session in. There's an upper campground as you enter the park and a lower one down by the river which is where we stayed. Both are great spots but we prefer being by the river. You can spend plenty of time walking or in my case running the roads and trails exploring mother nature. The old mining town of Trinity is about a 2.5 hr drive North of the campground. Nothing really to see once you get there because it's private property but the driver was worth it to scoop out the 12 campground that are on the way up to Trinity.
Nov 06, 2019 · Nails ItHad a ton of fun just camping with the kids. Showed up on monday and stayed for the week. Campground was mostly empty the entire time. Although it is dirt bike friendly. We hardly saw any. Met some friends from home and they loved it as well. Only problems were no campfires, and no fishing. Due to the high heat and to the fact that it was so dry. Will most likely be back again.
Aug 29, 2017 · Dan AmmonHosts Nick and Charlene were fabulous. They were such great help in accommodating and settling our group of 6 RVs so we could enjoy our trip to Goose Creek last week. Highly recommend this place and Nick and Charlene.
Aug 24, 2024 · Joe FeldPretty good camp ground. The camp host was super nice. Pit toilets are what you expect, and the well water was kinda brown. Dusty, dirt roads so be prepared. But the sites are well spaced and the ones on the lower loop looked super fun, right on the creek. It's pretty out of the way, so we found a spot when the last 8(!) campsites we stopped at were full.
Aug 15, 2020 · Rhys JonesThis is an amazing campground if you like to rough it, but still want a restroom (compost toilets, no water) close by! It's just enough wilderness for us, it's a ways off the beaten path to find & appears to be closed late fall/winter due to snowfall...the campsites are spacious and there is a creek nearby... lots of trails and a large loop to walk around... 20 min to Leavenworth for supplies... one of our new family favorites!!
