Granite Hill Camping Resort Introduce
For local residents and those in the surrounding areas seeking a "camping near me" experience with a blend of natural beauty and family-oriented activities, Granite Hill Camping Resort, located at 3340 Fairfield Rd, Gettysburg, PA 17325, USA, offers a compelling option. Situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Gettysburg, this campground provides a base for exploring the region's rich history while enjoying a camping retreat. You can contact them directly at (717) 642-8749 or via mobile at +1 717-642-8749 to inquire about reservations and learn more about their offerings.
Based on recent customer feedback, Granite Hill Camping Resort presents a generally positive experience, particularly for those seeking a well-organized and scenic campground. One visitor described their stay as "amazing," highlighting several key aspects that contributed to their positive impression. The campground was noted for being "well-organized," suggesting efficient management and a clear layout that makes navigating and settling in easy for campers. The staff also received high praise for being "super friendly," which can significantly enhance the overall camping experience by creating a welcoming and helpful atmosphere.
The natural environment surrounding Granite Hill Camping Resort is also a significant draw. The reviewer mentioned "stunning" scenery, indicating that the location offers visually appealing landscapes for campers to enjoy. This could include wooded areas, open fields, or perhaps views of the rolling hills that characterize the Gettysburg region. The presence of a "beautiful farm nearby" adds to the scenic charm and provides a glimpse into the local agricultural landscape. Wildlife encounters, such as spotting "adorable kittens in the woods," can also add a delightful touch to the camping experience, especially for families with children.
Cleanliness and maintenance of facilities are crucial for a comfortable camping stay, and Granite Hill Camping Resort seems to excel in this area, at least according to one reviewer. The bathrooms and showers were specifically mentioned as being "clean and well-kept," which is a significant advantage for any campground and contributes to a more pleasant experience for guests. The fact that the campground wasn't "too crowded" during this visitor's stay suggests a potentially relaxed and unhurried atmosphere, allowing for a more peaceful enjoyment of the surroundings. Furthermore, the welcoming nature of other campers encountered added to the positive social aspect of the visit.
However, it's important to present a balanced view based on all available feedback. Another reviewer described Granite Hill Camping Resort as an "older, rustic campground," which provides a different perspective on the nature of the facilities. While "rustic" can be appealing to some who prefer a more traditional camping experience, it might imply that the amenities are not the newest or most modern. This same reviewer did highlight a significant positive aspect: "Lots of family friendly activities." This suggests that Granite Hill Camping Resort is geared towards families and offers various forms of entertainment or programs designed to engage campers of all ages. These activities could range from organized games and crafts to recreational facilities like playgrounds or sports fields.
On the other hand, this second reviewer also pointed out a notable negative aspect: "The laundry room was filthy, only 3 washers and 2 dryers working." This is a significant concern for campers who rely on laundry facilities, especially during longer stays. The combination of poor cleanliness and a limited number of functioning machines could be a major inconvenience. This discrepancy in the reviews highlights the importance of considering all feedback when evaluating a campground.
Given these contrasting points, Granite Hill Camping Resort offers a scenic and potentially welcoming environment with a focus on family-friendly activities. The cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers is a definite plus, as is the well-organized nature of the campground. However, potential visitors should be aware that the campground is described as "older" and "rustic," and there have been reports of issues with the cleanliness and functionality of the laundry facilities.
For local users searching for "camping near me" near Gettysburg, the location of Granite Hill Camping Resort offers the advantage of being close to the historical attractions of Gettysburg National Military Park and the town itself, with its museums, shops, and restaurants. This allows campers to combine a nature-based retreat with opportunities to explore American history and local culture. The scenic surroundings of the campground provide a pleasant backdrop for relaxation after a day of sightseeing or participating in campground activities.
To make an informed decision, potential campers should consider their priorities. If a friendly atmosphere, organized campground, clean restrooms, and family activities are high on the list, Granite Hill Camping Resort could be a good fit. However, if reliable and clean laundry facilities are essential, it might be wise to inquire about the current state of the laundry room when making a reservation. The "rustic" nature of the campground might appeal to those seeking a more traditional outdoor experience, but those expecting modern, updated facilities should be prepared for something more established.
In conclusion, Granite Hill Camping Resort offers a "camping near me" experience with a scenic environment and a focus on family activities near Gettysburg, PA. While praised for its organization, friendly staff, and clean bathrooms, potential visitors should be aware of its older, rustic nature and the reported issues with the laundry facilities. Contacting the resort directly at (717) 642-8749 or +1 717-642-8749 can provide the most up-to-date information on amenities and conditions to help you plan your Gettysburg camping getaway.

Granite Hill Camping Resort Reviews
I had an amazing stay at Granite Hill! The campground was well-organized, the staff was super friendly, and the scenery was stunning. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well-kept. We even spotted some adorable kittens in the woods and enjoyed views of a beautiful farm nearby. It wasn’t too crowded, and everyone we met was welcoming. This place is truly a hidden gem—I highly recommend it!

Apr 14, 2025 · Denise DiltzIt's a campground no rooms, we have the best room in our camper. Been going there for years like back in the late 70s, it's gotten bigger and better over the years. Very nice people
Jan 31, 2025 · Serenity FarmHighly disappointed is an understatement. This campground leaves a lot to be desired..... poison ivy on sites, pot holes, rocks, and huge roots to trip over on walking paths, wasps nests on playgrounds.... its a mess of a campground. The customer service is subpar to say the least. Upon check in I was told that I would be at a post site and that post sites are first come first serve, so pick what site you want out of the sites left. After spending an hour trying to get our 33ft TT parked at the post spot we chose, followed by hooking everything up, we were approached by another camper indicating that we were in their site. When I called the office I was told that I was given the wrong information and needed to move immediately. Thankfully the other camper was graciously obliged to trade camp sites. Otherwise my husband would have tossed in the towel and left immediately and they said if we chose that we would not be given a refund.Fast forward to later in the evening when the group of campers that were surrounding us proceeded to party well past quiet hours, singing karaoke, revving motorcycles, screaming, blasting music etc until 3am. Multiple calls were made to the front desk by multiple campers in the area. All that occurred in the morning was that the group was "spoken to and asked to follow quiet hour rules". The whole next day the group was very nasty and screaming about "who called the office on them!?" It made for a horrible camping experience. The 2nd night the campground had security on site for the rowdy group who should have been asked to leave.Needless to say, my family and my very large camping group will never be back to Granite Hill. We refuse to patronize a campground that boasts themselves as family friendly but is anything but family friendly.Hey, at least they offered us free mini golf on their very dilapidated mini golf course as a token on their apologies for the rowdy neighbors. If you are looking for a crap hole of a campground that allows you and yours to do whatever you like, then this might be the campground for you!
Oct 15, 2024 · Jessica BrandtI really wanted to like our last trip, but could not. We used to come here when I was a kid every year. The problem is, we aren't sure they've done anything to maintain the "resort" in the last 20 years. Our first time in "Main Camp" with a full hookup pull through, and had a miserable time getting in and out of the site. We only had a 17ft single axle trailer so I feel horrible for anybody who booked with a larger trailer on site 90. It was horribly uneven, took every block and wedge I had to where the front bottom corner of my trailer was nearly at shoulder level. The roads are washed out and rutted enough to swallow a kid. My in-laws stayed in one of the cabins which I felt horrible about after I saw what they were and how much they paid. The playgrounds are falling apart with giant holes in the sand/ground, and even the steel swing sets haven't received as much as a fresh coat of paint since they were installed 40 years ago. It's such a shame, because the property has a ton of potential, but the only people who seem to care about the place were the young middle schoolers running some of the family activities. So much potential here, such a letdown of a place currently. I hope somebody starts to care more!
