Grey's Point Camp Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" with a unique community feel and waterfront access? Grey's Point Camp, located at 3601 Greys Point Rd, Topping, VA 23169, USA, offers a distinctive camping experience. Reviews from past visitors paint a picture of a friendly environment with engaging activities, but also highlight some considerations regarding the community dynamics and past management transitions.
One recurring positive aspect of Grey's Point Camp, based on customer feedback, is the friendliness of the staff. One reviewer specifically mentioned the front desk staff, Donna, Sara, and Chip, as being very helpful. This suggests that visitors can expect a welcoming and supportive experience from the campground team. Furthermore, the organized events and crafts were a significant highlight for at least one visitor and their granddaughter, indicating that Grey's Point Camp offers activities designed to engage campers of various ages.
The sense of community among the residents is also noteworthy. A visitor who camped at Grey's Point Camp every free weekend reported that the residents were very friendly and made them feel at home. This strong sense of community can be a major draw for those seeking more than just a temporary campsite; it suggests an opportunity to connect with fellow campers and build relationships.
However, another, more detailed review provides a contrasting perspective, particularly regarding the long-term resident dynamic. This reviewer, whose family owned a permanent spot at one point, initially enjoyed the campground, finding the staff nice and the environment seemingly "kid-friendly." However, their experience evolved over time. They described a significant presence of older residents who formed "little clicks" and exhibited what the reviewer perceived as entitled behavior, including hosting loud gatherings at self-built bars while being critical of others doing the same.
The same review also mentioned changes in management and the impact of a hurricane, suggesting periods of disruption and potential challenges at the campground. Despite these events, the reviewer indicated that they were still required to pay the full price for their permanent spot. Ultimately, dissatisfaction with rising annual dues and the overall environment led to their decision to sell their spot and seek an alternative elsewhere.
This detailed account serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the potential for a less transient community dynamic that may not appeal to all campers, especially those seeking a more traditional, short-term camping experience. The reference to "Karen's," "retired judges," and "probation officers" within these "clicks" suggests a specific social dynamic that prospective visitors might want to consider.
Despite the contrasting experiences, it's evident that Grey's Point Camp has fostered a strong sense of belonging for some, particularly those who integrated into the resident community and enjoyed the organized activities. The positive remarks about the staff's friendliness and helpfulness also indicate a commitment to guest service.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Grey's Point Camp offers a waterfront location in Topping, VA, which can be a significant attraction for those who enjoy water-related activities or simply appreciate scenic views. The mention of permanent spots suggests that long-term camping options may be available, potentially fostering a more established community compared to purely transient campgrounds.
However, prospective visitors should be aware of the potential for a dominant long-term resident population and the social dynamics that may come with it, as described in one of the reviews. The past management changes and the impact of external events like hurricanes are also factors to keep in mind, although the current state of the campground post these events is not fully detailed in the provided information.
If you are looking for "camping near me" with a strong community atmosphere and enjoy participating in organized activities, Grey's Point Camp might be of interest. The friendly staff appears to be a consistent positive. However, if you prefer a more transient camping environment or are concerned about the social dynamics within a long-term resident community, you may want to inquire further about the current atmosphere and the balance between permanent residents and short-term visitors.
To learn more about Grey's Point Camp and to get the most up-to-date information, you can contact them directly at (804) 758-2485 or +1 804-758-2485. It would be advisable to ask specific questions about the current community environment, the types of activities offered, and the facilities available to short-term campers. Understanding the current balance between long-term residents and short-term visitors could be crucial in determining if Grey's Point Camp aligns with your expectations for "camping near me."
In conclusion, Grey's Point Camp offers a waterfront setting and a community-oriented camping experience in Topping, VA. The friendly staff and organized activities are notable positives. However, potential visitors should be aware of the insights shared regarding the long-term resident community and past management transitions to make an informed decision about whether this campground meets their needs when searching for "camping near me."

Grey's Point Camp Reviews
Well , buckle up , this is gonna be a ride lol , my folks bought a permanent on sunset , at first , they loved it , the staff was nice and it advertised as "kid friendly" however it's stocked full of older people who enjoy being in their little clicks , a bunch of Karen's with a sense of entitlement! who have self built bars that party and drink and play loud music but then complain when you do it , smh then it changed management, then the hurricane 🌀, then the pools , it was alot of hard weekends that we still had to pay our full price on , anyway they went up on annual dues and dad said "nope, enough is enough" and we sold our spot !!! I warned ⚠️ dad , for the price there, we could find a bigger and better spot in OBX !!! and that's exactly what Charlie and Debbie Clendenin did!!! We have wonderful memories but unfortunately it had to come to an end !! Now we have a place by the ocean where we can stay year round and play music all night long, and it's actually cheaper, lol !!! We even bought a new golf cart and put it on the back. "Grey's point rejects." hahaha good times !!! No more Karen's, retired judges or probation officers , no more clicks or hang-ups !!! Just wonderful memories ❤️

Nov 10, 2024 · Claudia WI’m new to having a seasonal place in 2025 and I’ve needed help from the maintenance team on several occasions and they have been great. Very helpful, professional and kind.
Apr 25, 2025 · DYAN STANLEYBeautiful sunsets, great amenities, clean and friendly staff. In all honesty - I am responsible for the clean and friendly - I worked here 2024 summer season. Loved the entire experience and enjoyed making sure guests were happy and well tended.
Oct 17, 2024 · Fred WThis place is amazing!! From the moment you drive on to the property to checking in, and staying. This is a beautiful campground. It has amazing views, great options, activities for the children, swimming at the pools or the beach. It is easy to get around especially if you can rent a golf cart. They are $73.00 per day so a bit pricey, I wish they had a weekly deal. If you can rent one it makes getting around a lot easier. We stayed for 7 days and will definitely be back. Love it!! Kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans, forks knives and spoons, a toaster, anything and everything you need. AMAZING!!
