Early morning walks at Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay were very lovely. There is a lake and a couple of ponds with water fountains that were nice, and added an ambiance to the walks.You are able to receive your Amazon packages there, which is always a plus when you spend several months out on the road. Little to no cell service. We were lucky to get a good spot to utilize our Starlink, so hubby could work and the kid could do school.The staff were polite and professional. The problem that we had with staff, is that they won't do anything about the excessive weekend noise, particularly if it's before 11:00PM. (Quite hours start at 11:00PM). Our first night in the park was a Saturday night, and the park had a live "musical performance," from 7:00-10:30PM. I put the musical performance in quotes, as it was just a bunch of noise, that echoed through the park and made it impossible to sleep before the noise was over.The following Friday night, there was a site/s? that was blasting music, from late afternoon until around 10:15PM. Then, there were golf carts driving around, blasting music and honking their horns. They were laughing and carrying on, without a care or regard for anyone who was trying to sleep! One of the golf cart horns sounds like a rooster crowing and the other one sounds like the 'Dukes of Hazard' car horn. I complained to the staff the following afternoon, when I got back from running errands all morning. They were willing to listen to my complaints, but acted like their hands are tied in this situation and they really didn't care. I mean, my family can't be the only ones that are in bed by 8:30PM and asleep well before 11:00PM, no matter what night of the week it is? We have never experienced noise like this at any campground/rv park we have stayed at over the last several years. Would this not be considered bad campground etiquette, such as walking through another camper's site? In the apartment industry, it was considered disturbing another person's quiet enjoyment, no matter if it was in the middle of the day or night and would not be tolerated; just something for the owners to consider.

Party party party. Alochole use day and night. Want to hang out with drunks 24 hours a day. This is your place. Annuals have the best sites by far. Other sites seem uneven and muddy when it rains. Not for families. Large dogs not kept on leads, children run around unsupervised, overabundance of people drinking alcholic beverages then driving golf carts around. Golf carts all over the place and not going speed limit. Management or rangers do not enforce the rules reg dogs on leads, kids being supervised, speed limits, noise, fences around annuals sites., Many large potholes in roads. Water, electricity, and sewage system not consistently working. Management and the rangers grumpy and less than helpful.

Chesapeake Bay has yet to be my worst experience yet at Thousand Trails. My partner and I became members at the beginning of the year and traveled across the country for work regularly. In the last 8 months, We have been to 11 different locations with multiple stays. There are a few weird rules, an occasional ill-tempered staff member, between all the locations. But, ours at Chesapeake Bay warranted a rating. The staff lacks empathy and communication and takes vacous risks to the safety of customers. Very little information is given, and there is no map of the facility provided. Yet advertisements of becoming a member or events spill from the packet given. The park itself seemed great of which we could use (We worked all weekend and could not utilize everything). The dog park was probably the best part having a place for our dog to play. Having said above, though, the staff here made our experience wash away any positive ones. We even noticed there have been multiple complaints in the last few months with similar reasons. So, if there is anyone who looks over the reviews and staffing. Please provide proper training on communication to members and guests. Show some empathy when it comes to particular situations and not be strict on some rules but not others. I will not add our whole story. However, with particular circumstances, there could have been legal action taken against the facility. Luckily, nothing did happen. But, safety should be number 1 priority. One last note. A storm shelter should be placed next to the Welcome Center if members are forced to stay there. I hope this review can get Thousand Trails, higher management to audit their locations more regularly to ensure they are providing the best customer service and safe stay for members and other paying customers.

Big rig friendly (40 foot 5th wheel) 50amp FHUPros:-Starlink friendly sites-no issues with electrical or water-2 pools that were well maintained.-LOTS of activities on the weekends, food trucks, and decorations-Playground, beach, piers, boat launch, activity center, soccer field, horseshoes, basketball court, and mini golf-Showers were decent and had hot water-free package delivery- we have to order meds and such because we are full timers and it really makes our lives easier when we can send to the campground.-Honestly, the staff were incredible here. They were so helpful and supportive with some really stressful issues that popped up. We ended up having to stay for 5 weeks because of rig issue and they were so accommodating and helpful.-Richmond and Norfolk are within 60-90 min drive to get into a city and see some museums or markets-Gloucester is only 20 min away and has any store we needed.Cons- The roads around the campsite-and really anywhere we stayed in Virginia- were not cyclist friendly. That is not the campground fault but something we had wished was different for recreation.We would LOVE to come back again.

The campground itself is nice. Great location and amenities. The problem is that the employees are rude and evidently they don’t communicate with each other, we were told different things when checking in than we were told when talking on the phone with resort and then halfway through our stay we’re told something totally different. Half of our camping group had to leave because of a [tent rule] that no one could show me on paper. So half of our group lost their money for 2 nights. If you are thinking about tent camping do yourself a favor and camp somewhere else so that you can have an enjoyable time
