Chesapeake Bay RV Resort Introduce
For local users in the Gloucester, Virginia area seeking "camping near me," Chesapeake Bay RV Resort, located at 12014 Trails Ln, Gloucester, VA 23061, USA, presents itself as a potential option, particularly for RV enthusiasts. Situated in the Chesapeake Bay region, it suggests proximity to waterfront environments and related recreational opportunities. However, it is crucial for prospective visitors to be aware of recent policy changes and varying opinions regarding the campground conditions and overall experience, as indicated by recent customer reviews.
Several recent reviews express significant dissatisfaction with Chesapeake Bay RV Resort due to changes in campground policies. The primary concern highlighted is the new practice of assigning campsites to guests, effectively removing the option for campers to select their preferred sites. This policy shift has reportedly led to considerable unhappiness among campers, with many feeling that their preferences and previous experiences are no longer being accommodated. Local users who value the ability to choose their specific campsite should be aware of this recent change and consider how it might impact their stay.
Furthermore, the reviews also mention complaints regarding the overall conditions of the campground and a potential decline in morale. One long-term camper, who had been visiting for four years, explicitly states that conditions have "continued to deteriorate" and that they will not be returning or renewing their yearly pass. This feedback raises concerns about the upkeep and maintenance of the resort, which could affect the quality of the camping experience for new and returning visitors alike. Local users prioritizing well-maintained facilities should investigate these concerns further by consulting external review platforms.
In contrast to the negative feedback regarding policy changes and overall conditions, one reviewer sharing their experience at "Site A63" expresses a more positive sentiment, stating, "Love it here." They describe the site as "nice and clean" and acknowledge the friendliness of some staff members, noting that varying levels of staff friendliness can be common across different establishments. This positive experience on a specific site suggests that there may still be appealing aspects to the resort for some visitors. However, it's important to consider this feedback in the context of the broader concerns raised by other reviewers.
The same reviewer at Site A63 also provides practical information regarding cellular service and internet connectivity. They note the absence of T-mobile service, limited Verizon coverage, and the reliable performance of Starlink internet. This information can be valuable for local users who rely on specific mobile carriers or require internet access during their stay. The availability of Starlink might be a significant advantage for those needing robust internet connectivity, especially for remote work or streaming purposes.
Given the conflicting feedback, it is essential for local users considering Chesapeake Bay RV Resort for their "camping near me" needs to conduct thorough research beyond the limited information provided here. The reviews explicitly advise potential campers to "Read the reviews on Trip Advisor to get a thorough look" at the current situation. Consulting multiple external review platforms will likely provide a more balanced and comprehensive understanding of the recent changes, the prevailing opinions on campground conditions, and the overall camper satisfaction levels.
While the address indicates a location in Gloucester, VA, suggesting potential access to the Chesapeake Bay and related activities such as boating, fishing, or simply enjoying the waterfront scenery, the reviews do not elaborate on these aspects. Local users interested in these specific environmental features and recreational opportunities should seek out additional information, perhaps from the resort directly or from other online resources that might detail the resort's proximity to and access to the Chesapeake Bay.
Similarly, details regarding specific services and amenities offered at Chesapeake Bay RV Resort are not provided in the given information. Typically, RV resorts offer a range of services such as hookups for water, electricity, and sewer, restroom and shower facilities, laundry services, and potentially recreational amenities like a pool, playground, or communal areas. Promotional information is entirely absent in the provided data. Local users interested in any special offers, seasonal rates, or long-term stay options will need to contact Chesapeake Bay RV Resort directly to inquire about current promotions. It is also advisable to ask about their cancellation policies and any specific terms and conditions related to the new site assignment policy.
In conclusion, Chesapeake Bay RV Resort in Gloucester, VA, is a local option for those seeking "camping near me," particularly for RV camping in the Chesapeake Bay area. However, recent policy changes regarding campsite assignments have led to significant dissatisfaction among some campers, and concerns have been raised about the deteriorating conditions of the campground. While some individual experiences may still be positive, prospective local users are strongly advised to conduct thorough research by reading reviews on external platforms like Trip Advisor to gain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the current situation before making a booking decision. This will help ensure that their expectations align with the current realities of the resort and allow them to make an informed choice for their local camping needs.

Chesapeake Bay RV Resort Reviews
BE AWARE: This campground has changed policies recently and campers are VERY unhappy about it. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor to get a thorough look. The biggest complaint is that the campground is assigning sites and you are now forced to stay where they tell you to stay. There are also many complaints about campground conditions and moral. We’ve been camping there for four years, and conditions have continued deteriorate. We will not be returning or purchasing another yearly pass.
Apr 13, 2025 · T TSite A63. Love it here. Nice and clean and friendly staff(some of them) but that’s everywhere you go. No T-mobile, some Verizon, starlink works great.
Oct 24, 2024 · Ruly TinGood RV park. Everyone was friendly, antennas and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Good fishing, nice bath houses. Activities on the weekends. We were actually there on band weekend eBenefits the special Olympics. Would come back here again.
Sep 25, 2024 · Jim HillThis Thousand Trails campground is a nice getaway for those who like to fish or just be on the water. The sites are spacious, easily accommodating our 45ft motorhome and Jeep. Most have trees nearby or on the sites for shade. The store has camping necessities and fresh ice cream cones, with plenty of souvenir t shirts to choose from. There is a 24 hour laundromat on site, And I believe they fill or sell propane as well. The lake is quite large with a boat launch and a fishing pier.Overall a very nice campground. We will definitely return.
Nov 01, 2023 · S & S RV AdventuresMy family and I have been coming here for 10 years, and not once have we had issues with the old management and staff until our stay on Memorial Day weekend. The staff are rude with the way they speak to the guests and could do a much better job when addressing who they're speaking to. At the gate, whatever the lady was watching on their computer screen seemed more important than checking us in. They watched me pull up as they sat there and kept me sitting in my truck at the gate for literally 5 minutes before opening the door to greet us. She was also rude with how he questioned me on what I was doing. The lady's attitude could also use a lot of improvement since I was met as if my presence was such an inconvenience. The staff are not aware that their tones and attitudes can be matched by their guests when being treated poorly, but they should be.I rated it a 3 star because my family and I have been coming here for years and love the place. It's the staff that will negatively affect the experiences here at the camp site. The "A" frame folks are great, though. You can tell who's new and who has been there for years. So far, the old employees from the previous management have all been the best and know how to treat their guests.
