Hemlock Lake Campground Introduce
For local residents in and around Marcellus, Michigan, searching for "camping near me," Hemlock Lake Campground, located at 50821 Maple Rd, Marcellus, MI 49067, USA, presents a lakeside camping option with both traditional campsites and cabin rentals. Based on recent customer reviews, the campground offers a friendly hostess and a generally quiet atmosphere, but potential visitors should be aware of some environmental and amenity-related considerations.
The environment of Hemlock Lake Campground is centered around Hemlock Lake, offering the potential for lakeside activities and views. One reviewer mentioned a designated swimming spot with a sign indicating that the water is not tested for safety and swimming is at one's own risk. This is a crucial piece of information for those planning to swim in the lake. The campground appears to have both open areas for campsites and potentially wooded sections, contributing to a typical Michigan lake camping environment. One reviewer who stayed in a cabin ("The Lake Cottage") noted it was "pretty quiet for the most part, especially after dark," suggesting a peaceful setting. The presence of other campers and potentially pets (beagle and a little black dog mentioned) indicates a community atmosphere. However, another reviewer noted issues with overflowing trash, which could detract from the overall environment.
Based on the customer reviews, the services and amenities at Hemlock Lake Campground appear to be somewhat varied in quality. The hostess is consistently praised for being "friendly" and making guests feel "very welcome." This positive aspect of customer service is a significant highlight. In terms of facilities, one reviewer noted that the showers "definitely need upgraded" and had a "smell of sulfur," suggesting that the shower facilities may be outdated or have water quality issues. Additionally, this reviewer mentioned that a port-a-potty was "soo full the slider would not close," indicating potential issues with the maintenance of portable toilet facilities. However, another reviewer had a positive experience in "The Lake Cottage," which suggests that the cabin rentals might offer a different level of comfort and amenities. This cabin was noted to have water that smelled like methane, which the reviewer suggested could be improved with a water filter or softener. The availability of cabins alongside traditional campsites indicates a range of accommodation options. While not explicitly stated, it can be inferred that basic campground amenities such as water access (though quality is a concern in the cabin), and possibly electrical hookups at some sites, are available. The presence of trash receptacles is also evident, although their maintenance seems to be an issue according to one review. To obtain a comprehensive list of services and amenities, including details about campsite hookups, specific cabin features, and the availability of other facilities like laundry or a camp store, local users should contact Hemlock Lake Campground directly using the provided phone numbers, (269) 646-2618 or +1 269-646-2618.
The features of Hemlock Lake Campground primarily revolve around its lakeside location and the availability of cabin rentals in addition to campsites. The direct access to Hemlock Lake is a key feature, although the advisory regarding swimming safety is important to note. The availability of at least one cabin, "The Lake Cottage," which was described as "excellent," suggests that these rentals offer a more comfortable and potentially better-equipped lodging option. The quiet atmosphere, particularly after dark, is a feature that appeals to those seeking a peaceful retreat. The pet-friendly nature of the campground is implied by the mention of other campers with dogs. However, the issues with the condition of the showers and the port-a-potty, as well as the water quality in at least one cabin, are significant features that potential visitors should consider. The friendly hostess is a notable positive feature that contributes to a welcoming environment despite some of the facility-related drawbacks. The mix of campsite types (presumably both primitive and with some level of hookups) and cabin rentals caters to different camping preferences.
Currently, no specific promotional information is included in the provided text. Local campgrounds often have seasonal rates or discounts for longer stays. Given the mixed reviews regarding amenities, Hemlock Lake Campground might offer competitive pricing to attract visitors. Local users interested in potential promotions or discounts should contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers. Inquiring about cabin rental rates versus campsite fees, as well as any special offers for local residents or off-season stays, would be beneficial. Checking online camping reservation platforms might also provide some information about pricing and availability, although specific promotions might only be available through direct contact with the campground.
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Marcellus, Michigan area, Hemlock Lake Campground offers a lakeside location with both campsites and cabin rentals. The friendly hostess is a significant positive aspect, and the quiet evenings may appeal to those seeking a peaceful getaway. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported issues with the water quality for swimming in the lake, the condition of the showers and portable toilets, and the water quality in at least one cabin. The availability of "excellent" cabins suggests that these might be a preferable option for those seeking more comfort, despite the water issue mentioned. To make an informed decision, local users should contact Hemlock Lake Campground directly to inquire about the current conditions of the facilities, the types of campsites available, the features of the cabins, and any current pricing or promotions. Understanding these aspects will help determine if Hemlock Lake Campground meets their needs for a local camping experience.
In conclusion, Hemlock Lake Campground in Marcellus, Michigan, provides a lakeside camping option with a friendly hostess and a generally quiet environment. While it offers both campsites and cabin rentals, potential visitors should be aware of reported issues concerning swimming water quality, shower conditions, portable toilet maintenance, and cabin water quality. Hemlock Lake Campground Reviews
When you arrive at the designated spot to swim you are greeted with a sign that states this water is not tested to be safe to swim do so at your own risk. I may have changed some of the words but the meaning is the same. Showers definitely need upgraded and smell of sulfur. The port-a-potty was soo full the slider would not close. The trash was over full and all over the ground. The hostess is friendly and made us feel very welcome.
Jul 31, 2024 · Christine McDowellExcellent cabin and experience! The owner Barb was beyond nice and helpful! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the water in the cabin, "The Lake Cottage" smelled like methane. If it had a water filter or water softener, it would be perfect! Pretty quite for the most part, especially after dark which was really nice. The couple on the right with the beagle were super nice and friendly. The couple on the left with the little black dog, not so much, but overall we had a great time! Thanks again Barb!

Oct 12, 2023 · Robert AllenMany memories made here over the past 8 years.Restroom and shower aren't for the faint-hearted, but it's all a part of going out, camping, and having a good time. I wouldn't want it any other way. Cedar cabin is great for up to 4 people, if you don't mind sharing a bed!
