Highway to Haven Family Campground Introduce
Searching for a "camping near me" experience that offers a blend of excellent amenities, a friendly atmosphere, and convenient access to local attractions near Grand Haven, Michigan? Look no further than Highway to Haven Family Campground, located at 800 Robbins Rd, Grand Haven, MI 49417, USA. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground provides a welcoming environment with a strong sense of community, exceptionally clean facilities, and a variety of recreational options. While its proximity to a major highway is a factor to consider, the numerous pros often outweigh this for many visitors seeking a well-equipped and conveniently located camping destination.
The environment of Highway to Haven Family Campground is characterized by a mix of seasonal and short-term campers, creating a "homey" feel, particularly for those staying over holiday weekends like Memorial Weekend. The presence of mature trees, as noted by one reviewer who appreciated the "great tree coverage" on their sites (54 and 53), suggests that many campsites offer shade and a more natural setting. The campground's location also provides remarkable convenience, with a Meijer and Walmart situated just 0.2 miles away, making it incredibly easy to stock up on groceries, camping supplies, or any other necessities. This proximity to essential shopping is a significant advantage for campers who prefer not to travel long distances for supplies. However, the campground's name, "Highway to Haven," hints at its proximity to a major thoroughfare, and reviews confirm that the highway noise, including "revving and honking throughout the night," can be noticeable, especially for sites located in the middle of the campground or backing up to US31.
Highway to Haven Family Campground boasts a range of services and amenities designed to enhance the comfort and enjoyment of its guests. A standout feature is the "great, friendly staff," with a special mention of Steve, who lives on-site and is readily available for assistance, including providing firewood. The cleanliness of the facilities is consistently praised, with one reviewer stating that the "cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen at a campsite!" and noting that they are "Cleaned daily." This high standard of hygiene is a significant plus for any camping experience. Each campsite is well-equipped, offering essential hookups including water and electric, as well as a fire pit and a picnic table, ensuring a comfortable and convenient setup for all campers.
The campground also offers several appealing recreational features, making it particularly attractive for families and those looking for activities beyond their campsite. Amenities include a pickleball court, a basketball court, and a dog park, providing opportunities for sports, games, and exercise for both humans and their furry companions. Additionally, guests can enjoy cornhole and Connect 4, with "various other games they had readily available," suggesting a focus on providing entertainment and fostering a sense of community within the campground. The campground is explicitly described as "very dog and kid friendly," making it an excellent choice for families traveling with children and pets. The availability of these extra amenities adds significant value to the overall camping experience.
A unique aspect of arriving at Highway to Haven Family Campground is the entry via "the drive on the back side of the car dealership." While this might seem unusual initially, as one reviewer noted, it is easily navigated once you know the location and does not pose an ongoing problem. This unconventional entry point is a minor quirk that does not detract from the overall positive experience of the campground itself.
While specific promotional information is not detailed in the provided reviews, it is common for campgrounds to offer various rates depending on the season, length of stay, and type of campsite (e.g., standard, premium, pull-through). Given its popularity and the amenities offered, Highway to Haven Family Campground likely has a structured pricing system. To obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any potential discounts for extended stays or off-season camping, it is recommended to contact the campground directly at (616) 935-9565 or +1 616-935-9565. Highway to Haven Family Campground Reviews
We loved our stay here for Memorial Weekend! There are several seasonal campers that stay for the full season, so it felt homey. We stayed for 2 nights and went to the beach and nearby parks for hiking. There’s a Meijer and Walmart 0.2 miles away with everything you need.Pros:Great, friendly staff! Steve lives on-site, so is always available for firewood or help.Cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen at a campsite! Cleaned daily.Pickleball, basketball, and dog park were great extra amenities.Great tree coverage (on our spots, 54 and 53).Every spot has water, electric hookup, a fire pit, and a picnic table!Very dog and kid friendly.Cons:We were in the middle of the campground and the highway was very loud. We could hear revving and honking throughout the night.
May 26, 2024 · Rachel WeberWe enjoyed our 3 nights. The campground was very clean. We were able to enjoy pickle ball, basketball, corn hole, connect 4, and various other games they had readily available. It was surprising to enter the campground using the drive on the back side of the car dealership, but once you knew where you were going it wasn’t a problem. Our spot backed up to US31 and we did hear the traffic on the highway. (It is called HIGHWAY to Haven) We knew that ahead of time, so it didn’t bother us. Someone wanting a completely quiet spot might be bothered.
Jun 12, 2023 · Kris WeimerJust a gem! The new owners have made this a destination for local and out of town campers. Good sized lots with picnic table and fire ring. Loads of shade (Sorry GH state park and your concrete jungle parking lots with barley enough room to put your awning out before touching somebody else’s camper) Yard games, pickle-ball court, basketball, kids playground, community center with seating and gas grill, firewood for sale, small store for camping needs. A great home base while exploring all of Grand Haven’s downtown shopping, numerous festivals, amazing assortment of food/breweries and shopping! Can’t wait to see you there!
Jun 11, 2023 · Brett HepplerGreat campground for families! There is a lot to at the actual campground for kids and a lot to do if you want to leave. A short drive to Lake Michigan to enjoy the beach. The campground has a public grill for its guests to use which is a huge bonus for us. The bathrooms were always clean and kept up. The roads are not paved for scooters or rollerblades but good enough for bike riding. We will definitely be going back!
