Drew's Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Holland, Michigan area, Drew's Campground, located at 12850 Ransom St, Holland, MI 49424, presents a camping option that appears to cater primarily to long-term residents. Based on available customer reviews, it's important for prospective short-term campers to be aware of certain characteristics of this campground to determine if it aligns with their camping preferences and expectations.
Environment and Location Considerations
One reviewer notes that while the location of Drew's Campground was "OK," it was not considered "real close to Holland." This suggests that while it might be within a reasonable driving distance to the amenities and attractions of Holland, it may not offer the immediate proximity that some campers might prefer. It would be beneficial for those considering this campground to check its exact distance from specific points of interest in Holland to assess its convenience for their planned activities.
A significant environmental factor mentioned in the reviews is the campground's proximity to a four-lane highway, reported to be about 200 feet away. This results in "constant traffic noise," which could be a considerable drawback for campers seeking a peaceful and quiet outdoor experience. Individuals sensitive to noise might find this aspect particularly disruptive to their stay. It's important for potential visitors to weigh the convenience of the location against the potential for noise pollution.
On a more positive note regarding the environment, one reviewer did mention that "the sites are nice enough, with plenty of grass." This suggests that the individual camping spots themselves offer a pleasant surface and potentially some space. However, this positive aspect needs to be balanced against the less favorable environmental factors like the highway noise.
Services and Amenities Overview
Based on the limited information, Drew's Campground appears to offer basic camping amenities. One reviewer specifically mentions that the "shower house leaves much to be desired," indicating that the facilities might be dated or not up to the standards of some campers. This is an important consideration for those who prioritize clean and modern restroom and shower facilities during their camping trips.
The review also mentions that the campground is "mostly long-term trailers," suggesting that the infrastructure and layout might be geared more towards permanent or semi-permanent residents rather than short-term visitors. This could potentially impact the overall atmosphere and the availability or quality of amenities typically expected by short-term campers. It's unclear from the reviews whether the campground offers specific hookups for RVs (water, electricity, sewer) or if it primarily caters to basic tent camping alongside the long-term trailers. Potential campers should inquire directly about the types of sites available and the amenities provided at each site.
The mention of an "elderly woman who runs it" being "very nice" suggests a personal touch in the management, which can be a positive aspect of smaller campgrounds. However, the review also notes that the campground is "way substandard" overall, indicating that the manager's friendliness might not fully compensate for the perceived shortcomings of the facilities.
Features and Atmosphere
A notable feature, or rather a characteristic, mentioned in one review is the presence of "old junk campers setting around." This suggests that the aesthetic of the campground might not be particularly appealing to all visitors and could contribute to the feeling of a "very dated place." This visual aspect, combined with the highway noise and the condition of the shower house, paints a picture of a campground that might prioritize affordability or long-term stays over modern amenities and aesthetic appeal.
Another significant point raised in a review is the behavior of some long-term residents on Friday and Saturday nights. It is reported that "a bunch" of them stay outside, drink, and are loud until one in the morning or later. This potential for late-night noise could be a major concern for short-term campers looking for a quiet and restful night's sleep, especially families with children or those seeking a peaceful retreat.
The fact that the campground is mostly occupied by long-term trailers might also influence the sense of community and the types of interactions short-term campers can expect. It might feel less like a traditional transient campground and more like a mobile home park with some temporary sites available.
One positive feature mentioned, as noted earlier, is that the campsites themselves are "nice enough, with plenty of grass." This could provide a comfortable and pleasant area for setting up tents or parking RVs, despite the other potential drawbacks of the campground.
Promotional Information and Local Camping Goods & Services
The provided reviews do not contain any information about promotional offers or discounts at Drew's Campground. Given the description as a "substandard" and "very dated place" primarily catering to long-term residents, it is possible that they do not actively engage in promotional activities for short-term stays. Local users interested in potential deals or pricing should contact the campground directly at (616) 399-1886 or +1 616-399-1886 to inquire about their rates and any possible discounts.
For local users considering Drew's Campground, it's still beneficial to be aware of nearby resources for camping goods and services within the "camping near me" platform category. Holland and the surrounding area offer various options for purchasing or renting camping gear, including tents, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, and more. Knowing the location of Drew's Campground on Ransom Street, you can search for outdoor supply stores in that vicinity.
Additionally, local grocery stores and convenience stores will provide opportunities to stock up on food, beverages, and other essentials for your camping trip. If Drew's Campground has limited amenities, such as no picnic tables or unreliable showers, you might consider purchasing portable versions of these items from local retailers.
For RV campers, it would be prudent to inquire about the availability of hookups and dumping stations at Drew's Campground. If these are limited or unavailable, the "camping near me" platform can help you locate nearby RV service centers or dump stations in the Holland area.
In conclusion, Drew's Campground in Holland, Michigan, appears to be a basic and somewhat dated camping option that primarily serves long-term residents. While the manager is described as nice and the campsites have grass, potential short-term campers should be aware of the reported issues, including the proximity to a noisy highway, the substandard shower house, the presence of old trailers, and the potential for late-night noise from residents. If a quiet and amenity-rich camping experience is a priority, local users might want to explore other "camping near me" options in the Holland area. However, for those seeking a budget-friendly, no-frills spot with grassy sites and don't mind the potential drawbacks, Drew's Campground could be a consideration. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly at (616) 399-1886 or +1 616-399-1886 to get the most current information and to assess if it meets your specific camping needs.

Drew's Campground Reviews
This campground is mostly long-term trailers. The elderly woman who runs it is very nice, but the campground is way substandard. The location was OK but not real close to Holland. On Friday and Saturday night a bunch of long-term residents stay outside and drink and are loud until one in the morning or later.
Jul 14, 2024 · Mitzi Switzer StroupVery dated place. Old junk campers setting around. Shower house leaves much to be desired. Four lane highway is 200 feet from the campground with constant traffic noise. But I will say that the sites are nice enough, with plenty of grass.
May 26, 2023 · Doug MartinWe have come here a couple times. It’s an older place but peaceful. They sold firewood, and our neighbors were always great to us. Showers weren’t great, but nothing worse than the state park campgrounds.
Jun 24, 2023 · Mary LouiseI was not happy with the size of the campsites. My kids said the bathrooms were creepy. Pool looks like it hasn't been used in years. The website represents this place way better than reality. It took 4hrs to get fire rings (which were cut 55gal drums). The playground equipment was run down as well. We put this place on our do not return campground list.
May 09, 2021 · charles mccarthyMy husband and I came here to stay while my husband is working in Holland Mi. We have traveled all over the US and have stayed in a lot of campgrounds over the past 20 yrs. This is the worst experience we have had staying at a campground. Paid for entire month and here is what happened the 17 days we were there...we left before month was up due to NO Electric No sewage, NO water pressure in Shower Rooms Started the first day we were there. Two fires and one we literrally watched a lady burned to death in her camper at about 2:30 AM . After that we left. The only thing positive I can say is this campground is close to everything. If you should ever venture to stay here be sure to not get lot 5 because your view will be 2 run down ugly campers and an old truck.
