Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Allendale or West Grand Rapids, Michigan area? Consider the Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday, situated at 8275 Warner St, Allendale, MI 49401, USA. Based on the available customer reviews, this KOA offers a location that is "easy to get to" and features a quiet environment with "lots of trees" and areas for games and walks. However, it's important for local users to be aware of some contrasting feedback regarding maintenance and accessibility, particularly for larger RVs.
Location and Environment: Located in Allendale, which is near West Grand Rapids, the Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday benefits from its proximity to both natural landscapes and urban conveniences. One reviewer noted the presence of "lots of trees," suggesting a shaded and potentially scenic environment. The mention of "areas to play games and go for a walk" indicates that the campground offers some space for outdoor recreation. While the first reviewer who stayed in March found it quiet, the second reviewer's experience might point to other environmental factors to consider. Allendale is situated in a region of Michigan known for its blend of rural and suburban settings, so the campground could offer a balance of natural surroundings with accessibility to nearby towns and attractions. For local users seeking "camping near me" with a potentially tranquil and wooded setting, this KOA might be of interest, but it's wise to consider the varying perspectives on its overall condition.
Services and Amenities: The services and amenities at the Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday appear to vary depending on the time of year. One reviewer who stayed in March noted that the "pool, office, bathroom, and laundry" were not open during their visit. They did mention seeing staff to fill a propane tank. In contrast, KOA campgrounds typically offer a range of amenities, including restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and often recreational features like a pool. The second reviewer's negative experience focused more on maintenance and the attitude of the owner rather than a lack of basic amenities, implying that these facilities might generally be available. However, the discrepancy in the first review suggests that seasonal closures might occur. The first reviewer also mentioned that the lots were "only backin but were flat and average size," which is relevant for RVers. To get a clear understanding of the currently available services and amenities, especially if visiting during the off-season, contacting the campground directly is crucial.
Features and Activities: One reviewer mentioned "areas to play games and go for a walk," indicating some on-site recreational space. KOA campgrounds often feature amenities like playgrounds, game rooms, and sometimes planned activities, especially during peak season. However, the limited and somewhat contradictory review information doesn't provide a comprehensive list of features and activities available at this specific KOA. The first reviewer's positive note about having areas for games and walks suggests some level of recreational offering. In contrast, the second reviewer's negative comments focused on maintenance issues like "untrimmed trees and potholes," which could detract from the overall enjoyment of the grounds. For local users considering this "camping near me" option, it would be beneficial to inquire about the specific recreational facilities and the general condition of the campground to align expectations.
Promotional Information and Why Choose Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday: There is no explicit promotional information in the provided reviews. Reasons why a local user might choose the Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday include its easy accessibility and the potential for a quiet, treed environment with some recreational areas, as mentioned by one reviewer. If you are looking for a KOA campground in this specific area and are primarily interested in a convenient location with a natural setting, it might be worth considering. However, the second review raises significant concerns about maintenance ("untrimmed trees and potholes the size of a small swimming pool") and the owner's demeanor, particularly regarding accommodating larger RVs. This reviewer strongly advises against visiting, especially for those with expensive equipment or big rigs, labeling it "not big rig friendly" and a "terrible place, run by terrible people," and a "mud pit." Given these strongly contrasting opinions, local users should weigh the potential benefits of the location and environment against the reported maintenance and customer service issues. It would be prudent to seek more recent reviews or contact the campground directly to get a current perspective before making a decision.

Allendale / West Grand Rapids KOA Holiday Reviews
Easy to get to. We stayed a couple nights in March so they didn't have the pool, office, bathroom, and laundry open. We didn't see any staff except the guy who filled our propane tank. It was quiet and had lots of trees. There were areas to play games and go for a walk. The lots were only backin but were flat and average size. We'd probably go back.
Apr 12, 2025 · Linda AndreMost KOA's we have been to are in disrepair and not properly maintained. some of the franchise owners and staff have been very nice but others expect the campers to jeopardize their expensive equipment just to accommodate their lack of maintenance and upkeep. Policies and rules are inconsistent. The owner is rude and expects everyone to accommodate him, he got mad at me because I refused to drive my rig through the untrimmed trees and potholes the size of a small swimming pool. He also told me they are not qualified to meet our expectations. This is a terrible place, run by terrible people. This KOA is NOT big rig friendly and should not be advertised as such. DO NOT go here if you care at all about your equipment. It's a mud pit.
Apr 18, 2025 · Mike TLoved our stay here! The owner is so nice (you can tell he enjoys what he does). Our site was easy to get in & out. Clean bathroom & shower. Other things we enjoyed: walking trails, lots of trees, well kept landscaping, feeding goats, water wars, hay ride, neon ride (music is terrific), paint ball was a blast! This campground did not disappoint. Caution: the speed limit in 4.93 mph. Do not exceed.
May 27, 2024 · Sandra KlukThe staff at the campground was friendly and welcoming. Someone takes great care of the flowers and gardens. The playground is limited but in good condition. The location is convenient to Grand Rapids and the lakeshore.Sites are very narrow. Our site had some living trees, but several stumps and a dead tree. During our weekend stay, restrooms were not clean, and the bathroom and shower facilities were in poor condition. The pool was small and overcrowded. We were scolded for speeding despite the speedometer reading under 5 mph. On balance, this did not meet our expectations of a KOA campground.
Jun 25, 2024 · Eric Zeemering9/5/24 to 9/9/24 What a wonderful surprise! This KOA is beautiful with large sites with private patios and fire pits. Lots of wooded sites and areas with walking trails. Awesome jump pillow and playground for the kids. Loved the goats too! We will be back.
