Holiday Campground Introduce
For local users in California and those searching within the "Camping Near Me" category for a campground in the Mammoth Lakes area that offers both winter and summer appeal, Holiday Campground, located on Rock Creek Rd, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546, presents an interesting option. Based on the limited but positive customer reviews available, Holiday Campground offers unique advantages depending on the season, catering to different types of outdoor enthusiasts.
While no phone number is provided in the available information, Holiday Campground's location on Rock Creek Rd places it within a well-known area for camping and outdoor activities near Mammoth Lakes. This proximity to Mammoth Mountain and the surrounding natural beauty makes it a potentially attractive choice for those exploring "Camping Near Me" for various recreational pursuits.
One review highlights Holiday Campground as "a great winter escape, only minutes to Mammoth Ski Resort." This is a significant feature for skiers and snowboarders looking for camping options close to world-class skiing. The reviewer's experience suggests that even in winter conditions, the campground can be accessible, although with a caveat. They noted that the road within the camp was not plowed but were fortunate that someone else had created tire tracks, allowing them to find a level spot and set up camp easily. This indicates that while winter camping is possible, some self-sufficiency and potentially suitable vehicle might be necessary depending on snow conditions.
A notable advantage mentioned for winter camping at Holiday Campground (at least at the time of the review) is that it was "fee-free." This could be a significant draw for budget-conscious travelers or those looking for a more rustic and less regulated winter camping experience within their "Camping Near Me" search. The fact that the "vault toilet was even still open" during the winter visit is also a positive aspect, as restroom facilities can often be closed in campgrounds during the off-season.
The reviewer's experience of a "very quiet" night with no other campers present suggests that Holiday Campground might offer a secluded winter camping experience. This could be appealing to those seeking solitude and a peaceful escape during the winter months, especially when combined with easy access to the nearby ski resort.
Another review describes Holiday Campground as a "Beautiful and peaceful place 🌞!" This indicates that the campground also offers a pleasant environment during warmer months. The mention of "a lot of sunshine 😌🌻 during the day and cold during the night" is typical of the high-altitude Eastern Sierra climate, suggesting that campers should be prepared for significant temperature variations between day and night, especially during shoulder seasons and summer.
The reviewer also noted having a "good time with friends here!" This implies that Holiday Campground can be a suitable location for group camping trips during warmer weather, where the beautiful and peaceful surroundings can be enjoyed for various outdoor activities beyond just winter sports. The sunshine mentioned suggests opportunities for hiking, exploring, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Mammoth Lakes area.
Considering the limited information, it is difficult to provide a comprehensive overview of all services and features typically found in a developed campground. The reviews do not mention amenities such as running water, electrical hookups, picnic tables (beyond the one implied by setting up camp), fire rings, or designated parking spots (beyond finding a level spot). The presence of a vault toilet in winter suggests that basic restroom facilities are available, at least seasonally.
The environment of Holiday Campground is clearly a major draw, with its proximity to Mammoth Ski Resort for winter activities and its beautiful and peaceful setting with plenty of sunshine for summer enjoyment. The surrounding area of Mammoth Lakes is renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, including mountains, lakes, and hiking trails, all of which would be easily accessible from Holiday Campground's location on Rock Creek Rd.
Based on the available reviews, Holiday Campground seems to offer a more rustic and potentially less developed camping experience compared to some other options that might appear in a "Camping Near Me" search. Its key features include its proximity to Mammoth Ski Resort, its potential for fee-free camping in the winter (subject to change), its quiet and peaceful atmosphere, and its sunny and beautiful environment during warmer months. The availability of a vault toilet in winter is a basic but important amenity.
For local users and those visiting the Mammoth Lakes area, Holiday Campground could be an attractive option depending on their camping style and the time of year. Winter campers looking for easy access to skiing and potentially free camping might find it appealing, provided they are prepared for unplowed roads within the campground and self-sufficient camping. Summer campers seeking a beautiful and peaceful basecamp for exploring the natural wonders of Mammoth Lakes would also find its environment inviting, although they should be prepared for cold nights.
As there is no promotional information provided in the reviews, this introduction focuses on the objective information gleaned from the customer feedback. Potential visitors should be aware that the conditions, fees, and availability of amenities might vary depending on the season and should ideally seek more up-to-date information from local sources or online camping resources specific to the Mammoth Lakes area before planning their trip to Holiday Campground.
In conclusion, Holiday Campground on Rock Creek Rd in Mammoth Lakes offers a unique "Camping Near Me" experience that caters to both winter and summer visitors. Its proximity to Mammoth Ski Resort, potential for fee-free winter camping, peaceful atmosphere, and beautiful, sunny environment make it a noteworthy option for those seeking a more natural and less developed camping experience in a stunning location. However, potential campers should be prepared for basic amenities and varying conditions depending on the time of year and should seek additional information to ensure it meets their specific needs and expectations.

Holiday Campground Reviews
A great winter escape, only minutes to Mammoth Ski Resort. I was a little hesitant to arrive knowing the road in the camp wasn't going to be plowed, but luckily someone was there before me and laid out tire tracks for the road in and out. I was able to easily find a level camp spot and setup shop. It was very quiet, and no one else showed up for the night. In the winter (at least right now) the campground is fee-free. The vault toilet was even still open! Would 100% come back.
