This suggests that while the overall concept of the horse camp is appreciated, there might be room for improvement in the maintenance of the individual horse camping areas.
The same review also raised a security concern, noting the repeated presence of a non-camper in the men's bathroom for extended periods, describing it as "sketchy and unsafe." This highlights a potential need for more active patrolling or monitoring of the horse camp area by park authorities to ensure the safety and comfort of paying campers. While this seems to be an isolated observation, it's a factor potential visitors might want to be aware of.
Conversely, another review strongly praises the horse camp, calling it "awesome" and unlike anything else in the area. This positive feedback underscores the value and appeal of a dedicated horse camping facility. The reviewer highlights the electric hook-ups, shower house, outhouses, playground, riding trails, arena, and ample tie-up spots as significant positives.

Hueston Woods State Park Horse Camp Reviews
Really wish the horse areas were built up more / cleaned up better? This is how they looked when we arrived on sites 7,6 and 5.Also I think Houston Woods needs to patrol the horse camp area better. All 4 days we were there someone in a black suv showed up to go in the men's bathroom for over an hour. Looked sketchy and unsafe and of course they were not there to camp.
Jul 10, 2023 · Wiyanna VenableIn my opinion, this is an awesome horse camp. I've not seen anything like it in the area. It looks like a very cool place to go camping with your horse. There are campsites with electric hook-ups, a shower house, some outhouses, a small playground for the kids, riding trails, a small arena, and lots of places to tie your horse.
Nov 22, 2019 · Pam LoveThey are doing great work to improve the trails! Campsites are nice and there is a full sized outdoor arena there as well. Plenty of trails, but bring your GPS because some are not well marked.
Aug 11, 2019 · Kim Bentley-FightsNice park. You can take short rides or extended as you desire. Has an arena for the beginner or practice for the experienced rider.
Oct 29, 2018 · Vickie CouchHad a fantastic time this past week! Trails from beginners to Advanced. Beautiful views, high hills. Great for trail riding. Will return.
