Kerr Lake Area 3 Introduce
Looking for the perfect camping escape close to home? If you're searching for "camping near me," Kerr Lake Area 3 presents a promising option nestled in Henderson, North Carolina. Located at CJ43+P3, Henderson, NC 27537, USA, this campground offers a tranquil setting on the shores of the expansive Kerr Lake, providing a convenient and accessible outdoor adventure for local enthusiasts.
Based on recent feedback from fellow campers, Kerr Lake Area 3 offers a unique experience that varies depending on the time of year. One visitor who stayed for four nights in early November highlighted the peaceful atmosphere during the weeknights, noting that the campground was almost deserted while other nearby locations around the lake were closed. This suggests that those seeking solitude and a quieter camping experience might find the off-season at Kerr Lake Area 3 particularly appealing.
The campground appears to cater primarily to back-in campsites. Reviewers with larger recreational vehicles should take note of this, as it might influence the lake views available from their setup. However, for those with smaller trailers or tents, like the teardrop camper mentioned, maneuvering into sites might be more straightforward. Site 88, in particular, was noted for allowing a pull-in and detach approach followed by backing out the tow vehicle, indicating some flexibility in site layout.
One of the notable environmental features of Kerr Lake Area 3 is its shaded terrain. This can be a significant advantage, especially during the warmer months, providing relief from the sun and contributing to a more comfortable camping experience. The presence of a nice view of the lake from some sites, such as site 88, further enhances the appeal, offering a picturesque backdrop for your outdoor retreat.
When it comes to facilities, the bathhouse at Kerr Lake Area 3 has received mixed reviews. The men's side was described as okay, featuring three shower stalls with sufficient hot water and pressure. Campers also noted that it was cleaned every morning. However, it's worth being aware that a strong chlorine scent was sometimes present immediately after cleaning, suggesting a short wait might be preferable before use.
The feedback regarding the women's side of the bathhouse was less positive, with a mention of a lack of privacy in the shower area. This is an important consideration for female campers when planning their visit and choosing a campsite that might offer more convenient access to this facility or when packing personal items to enhance privacy.
Campsite proximity is another factor to consider. According to one review, the sites are "pretty close together." This might impact the sense of privacy and personal space, especially during busier times. Campers who value seclusion might want to inquire about site spacing when making reservations or explore options for end or corner sites if available.
Campfire enthusiasts should also be aware of potential limitations. One camper reported being unable to use their fire pit due to a neighbor's truck being parked too close. This highlights the importance of respecting site boundaries and being mindful of the placement of vehicles and equipment to ensure everyone can safely enjoy the amenities.
The availability and efficiency of the dump station are also points to note. The review mentioned a significant wait time of approximately 40 minutes due to a "one camper at a time" policy. This is crucial information for those with RVs or trailers that require regular dumping, especially when planning departure times, particularly on weekends or during peak seasons when more campers might be leaving simultaneously.
Despite some of the noted drawbacks regarding facilities and site spacing, the overall atmosphere and the interactions with fellow campers seem positive. The reviewer specifically mentioned that their neighbors were "very friendly," contributing to a pleasant social environment within the campground. Additionally, the beautiful weather experienced during their early November stay underscores the potential for enjoyable outdoor activities in the area, depending on the season.
Kerr Lake itself is a significant draw for the region, offering opportunities for various water-based activities such as boating, fishing, and swimming, although the immediate access and specific amenities for these activities from Area 3 are not detailed in the provided review. However, the lake's presence undoubtedly enhances the overall camping experience, providing scenic views and recreational options in the broader vicinity.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Kerr Lake Area 3 presents a conveniently located option with a shaded environment and lake views. While some aspects of the facilities, such as the bathhouses and dump station, have received mixed feedback, the friendly atmosphere and natural beauty of the area appear to be significant positives. Potential campers should weigh these factors against their personal preferences and needs when considering a stay at Kerr Lake Area 3. It might be beneficial to check for recent updates or additional reviews online to get a more comprehensive picture of the current conditions and any recent improvements.
As a local camping destination within the "camping near me" category, Kerr Lake Area 3 offers a blend of natural charm and essential amenities. Kerr Lake Area 3 Reviews
We camped here for four nights in early november. On the weeknights the place was almost deserted and all of the other campgrounds around the lake were closed. We have a small teardrop and got site 88. I believe most of the sites here are back in which means if you have anything of any size you may not get your front door looking at the lake. We had a small teardrop and had sight 88 and were able to just pull in, detach, and then back the truck out. Area is pretty shaded and there is a nice view of the lake. The bath house is not all that great. The men's side seemed to be okay with three shower stalls. Sufficient hot water and pressure. Cleaned every morning but they used a lot of chlorine so you may want to wait a few minutes before using it after that. My wife said the women's side was not as nice. Not much privacy in the shower.
Nov 14, 2023 · Michael BuellSites are pretty close together, we were not able to have a campfire in our fire pit because our neighbors truck was parked too close to it. When we left we had to wait about 40 minutes to dump at the dump station because it was only 1 camper at a time not two. On the plus side- our neighbors were very friendly and the weather was beautiful!
