Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking the perfect "camping near me" experience, Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground, located at 60 Meyer Rd, Middletown, NY 10940, presents a conveniently situated option. Nestled along the scenic Shawangunk Kill, this campground offers a range of campsites, some boasting lovely riverfront views, promising a potentially tranquil and relaxing escape into nature.
When browsing platforms under the category "camping near me," Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground warrants consideration. Its Middletown location provides relatively easy access for residents of the surrounding areas, making it a viable choice for weekend getaways or short camping trips. The presence of riverside sites adds a unique appeal, offering the soothing sounds of flowing water and the opportunity for water-related activities, depending on campground regulations and river conditions.
Based on recent customer feedback, the environment at Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground appears to offer a mix of positive and potentially concerning aspects. One reviewer highlighted the "lovely sites along the river," suggesting that these locations provide a particularly attractive setting for campers seeking natural beauty and a peaceful ambiance. This positive experience also included a "quiet and relaxing stay," indicating that the campground has the potential to offer a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The reviewer further noted "great interactions with the staff," describing them as "accommodating and helpful," particularly when unforeseen issues arose. This suggests a commitment to customer service and a willingness to assist campers, which can significantly enhance the overall camping experience.
However, another recent review presents a contrasting perspective regarding the atmosphere and facilities. This camper, who had visited the campground previously without issue, reported feeling "constantly being watched" during a recent stay with friends. They described the frequent presence of staff as "uncomfortable," despite their group being "nothing but respectful." This perception of excessive supervision is a significant concern, as it can detract from the sense of freedom and relaxation that many campers seek in a natural environment. The reviewer explicitly stated that this experience made them feel unwelcome and that they would not return.
In addition to the concerns about supervision, the second review also raised issues regarding the campground's bathroom facilities. Specifically, it was mentioned that the bathrooms had "no light during the day" and lacked soap. These are fundamental aspects of hygiene and comfort, and such deficiencies can significantly impact the overall camping experience. The absence of light, even during the day, can make using the facilities inconvenient and potentially unsafe. Similarly, the lack of soap raises concerns about basic sanitation and hygiene, which are particularly important in a shared outdoor environment.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it is important for potential local users exploring "camping near me" options to weigh the positive aspects, such as the friendly staff and lovely riverside sites, against the potential drawbacks, including the reported feeling of being overly watched and the issues with the bathroom facilities. The positive review suggests that under the right circumstances, campers can enjoy a convenient and relaxing stay with helpful service. However, the negative review highlights potential concerns regarding privacy and the maintenance of essential amenities.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground based on the provided data. It would also be prudent to ask about the current status of the bathroom facilities and any measures taken to address the concerns raised in the recent negative review.
In conclusion, Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground offers a conveniently located option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Middletown, NY area, with the potential for a pleasant stay, particularly on the riverside sites, and interactions with a friendly staff. However, prospective campers should be aware of the recent feedback regarding a perceived lack of privacy due to frequent staff presence and reported issues with the lighting and soap availability in the bathrooms. It is recommended to contact the campground directly to gather the most up-to-date information and to determine if it aligns with individual preferences and expectations for a camping experience.

Korn's Shawangunk Kill Campground Reviews
This campground is convenient and friendly with some lovely sites along the river. We enjoyed a quiet and relaxing stay and had great interactions with the staff. When our plans changed and we ran in to a few issues they were accommodating and helpful. Great experience!
Jun 24, 2024 · BillI had been here 2 years ago with family and it was fine but i just went with friends and felt like we were constantly being watched.. we were nothing but respectful but it was uncomfortable the amount of times they passed by , ive never been to a camp ground that made me feel like that & i never will again. Also the bathrooms had no light during the day & there was no soap.
Jun 06, 2024 · Nicole AshleyDo not come here for any kind of relaxing experience. The sites are on top of eachother. The people next to us literally had almost 40 ppl gathered at one site. They brought in sub woofers larger than 4ft tall and blasted Spanish music from 8am till 330am. They also brought in huge spotlights that lit up the entire campground. Management was no where to be seen. This place is a free for all. Coming here was like staying in hell for a night.
Jun 09, 2024 · Jackie BuschHad a wonderful weekend on our maiden voyage our new to us travel trailer. The campsite owner “Kat” was extremely welcoming and very generous.Campsite was clean , quiet and well cared for.The public washrooms and showers could use a little more cleaning care. Was impressed with the camp store that would pretty much look after anything you may have forgotten. Can’t wait to book our next adventure with Korn’s.
Aug 06, 2023 · Kelly PeaceFirst time at a private campground. It has all we need. Kids enjoyed swimming pool, the play ground and sand area. Coke and ice cream are $1 each and we bot a bunch. When purchasing firewood, the owner gave my daughters a bunch of toys for free. How nice of the lady there! Thank you.
