Lake of Dreams Campground Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" in Michigan that offers a blend of family-friendly activities and lakeside relaxation? Consider Lake of Dreams Campground, located at 1000 S Fenmore Rd, Merrill, MI 48637, USA. You can contact them at (989) 643-0403 or +1 989-643-0403. Based on recent customer feedback, this campground presents a mixed experience, with some praising its themed events and lake activities, while others express concerns about the management and rules.
The environment of Lake of Dreams Campground features a "nice little lake to swim in" and a front "lake" and rear pond where fishing is allowed. This lakeside setting provides opportunities for water-based recreation, which is a significant draw for those seeking "camping near me" with aquatic activities. One reviewer noted that the campground is a "nice family campground" that is "tucked away," suggesting a potentially more secluded and intimate atmosphere. However, another reviewer's experience differed, mentioning a view from their site that included a fence, gravel and sand piles, and "junk campers," which indicates that the scenic quality might vary depending on the campsite. Despite this discrepancy, the presence of a lake for swimming and fishing remains a key environmental feature of Lake of Dreams Campground.
In terms of services, Lake of Dreams Campground seems to offer a range of conveniences. One positive review highlights "very friendly staff" and mentions a "nice little store" on-site where you can check in and purchase forgotten items. They also offer a convenient service of delivering a "gator bed of wood" directly to your campsite for a fee. The campground accommodates both overnight and seasonal camping. The themed weekends for adults and children suggest an effort to create an engaging and entertaining atmosphere. On the other hand, a more critical review paints a different picture of the staff, describing them as "miserable" with "bad attitudes." This reviewer also noted that while the "activity area looks nice," there are charges for "everything except breathing." This contrasting feedback suggests that while some services are appreciated, the overall service experience might be inconsistent depending on individual interactions and perceptions.
The features of Lake of Dreams Campground include a lake with an "inflatable obstacle slide" and a "person launcher," which sound like fun and unique attractions, particularly appealing to families and those looking for active water-based entertainment as part of their "camping near me" experience. The allowance of fishing in both the front lake and rear pond is another notable feature for angling enthusiasts. The themed weekends add an element of novelty and community to the campground experience. However, one reviewer expressed frustration with an extensive list of rules ("two pages of rules on top of rules on top of rules") and mentioned being yelled at for inadvertently driving across the grass due to soft gravel pads. This suggests that while there are appealing features, the management's approach to rules might be a point of contention for some visitors. The availability of a store on-site is a convenient feature for campers. The fact that they don't sell beer but a gas station is nearby is also a piece of practical information for potential visitors.
Regarding promotional information, the positive aspects highlighted in one review, such as the themed weekends, the lake with its inflatable slide and person launcher, the fishing opportunities, the friendly staff, and the on-site store, would likely be promoted to attract families and those seeking a fun and active "camping near me" experience. The firewood delivery service could also be advertised as a convenience. However, the negative review serves as a reminder that potential visitors might encounter strict rules and perceive additional charges for activities. Therefore, a balanced approach to promotion would involve highlighting the engaging features and friendly staff mentioned by some, while also acknowledging that adherence to campground rules is expected. To get a comprehensive understanding of any current promotions or specific details about activities and rules, contacting Lake of Dreams Campground directly is recommended.
In conclusion, Lake of Dreams Campground in Merrill, MI, offers a "camping near me" option with appealing features like a lake for swimming with inflatable attractions, fishing ponds, themed weekends, and a store. While one reviewer praised the friendly staff and family atmosphere, another described issues with management attitudes and numerous rules. Potential visitors should weigh these contrasting perspectives. If you are looking for a campground with lake activities and themed events, Lake of Dreams might be worth considering, but it would be prudent to inquire about the specific rules and any associated costs for activities beforehand to ensure it aligns with your expectations for a "camping near me" getaway.

Lake of Dreams Campground Reviews
Nice family campground that's always putting on themed weekends for the adults and their little ones.. nice little lake to swim in and a inflatable obstacle slide and a "person launcher" for the lake.. fishing is also allowed in the front "lake" and rear pond. Campground has a nice little store where you check in to pick up any little odds and ends you may have forgotten. Unfortunately they do not sell beer but the gas station is just a few miles down the road. For $15 they will deliver a gator bed of wood directly to your campsite. Has overnight and seasonal camping. Very friendly staff. We will be back.
Sep 07, 2024 · Linvel BanksLake of Rules - The first rule is to leave your bad attitude in the ditch prior to entering. It's too bad that the people that work here don't follow the first rule because they are all miserable and all have bad attitudes. Don't forget to take 15 minutes to read their two pages of rules on top of rules on top of rules on top of rules. We had a lovely view of a fence covering the forest two piles of gravel and sand and I wonderful view of two junk campers. Their gravel pads are so soft you dig down about 8 in and then they yell at you for driving across the grass. On the other hand the activity area looks nice but they charge you for everything except breathing. This is absolutely a one and done place for me.
Jul 14, 2024 · Gary SoloGreat little campground! Lots of space on your site. Not a lot of shade, but the lake makes up for it to keep you cool. The kids were able to stay busy between the playgrounds and the lake and mini waterpark. Electric and water hook up on the sites. Fire pits are outdated and need to be replaced. Restrooms/showers are very clean. There is a store on site that has many things and is very reasonably priced. To use the water park, it's $10 all day or $6 for half a day. Firewood is $15 for a gator load, which is the best price around. Just wish they would stop cutting them so thin. Seems most campgrounds are making planks and then cutting them up to sell. There is a small arcade on site to also to the kids busy, with a pool table inside also. There is an amazing food truck called Zachzillas. The chili cheese and bacon fries are to die for. Great place for a quick weekend or for a week. Check it out!
Jul 11, 2023 · Jack Noble IIILake of Dreams Campground is Amazing!I’ve been coming to Lake of Dreams Campground for years, and it never disappoints! The lake/pond is absolutely amazing – perfect for a relaxing day by the water or some fun water activities. The store on-site has a fantastic selection of items, and the prices are great, making it easy to grab anything you might need during your stay. The staff here are incredible – always friendly, helpful, and ready to make your experience the best it can be. One of the highlights for me is the Ga Ga ball pit; it’s always a blast and never fails to entertain both kids and adults alike. If you’re looking for a campground that offers beautiful scenery, great amenities, and top-notch service, Lake of Dreams is the place to be. Highly recommended!
Jul 17, 2024 · Tim BThe sites are nice, the part of the campground closest to the pond has almost no shade, but the rest has good coverage. The waterside and blob were great, although it was weird that the water was blue, but it didn't stain anything. Shower/ bath houses were very nice, good water pressure, but it is well water. We got a cabin for our stay which was very small and tight quarters but it was not bad. Our cabin had 2 twin mattresses side by side in the loft, the main floor had a bunkbed (but only a very small child could fit in the bottom bunk), and a queen size bed. There was a mini fridge, microwave and counter space. Must bring all your own linens, including pillows. The camp store was AWESOME! Great selection and prices! The staff was phenomenal, they were so helpful and accommodating! There is an on site BBQ stand that has the best ribs within 2 hours. We will definitely be going back!
