River Ridge Family Campground Introduce
Looking for a family-friendly camping experience in your local area? River Ridge Family Campground, located at 1989 W Pine River Rd, Breckenridge, MI 48615, USA, presents itself as a potential destination for those searching for 'camping near me'. With contact numbers (989) 842-5184 and +1 989-842-5184 readily available, this campground aims to cater to families seeking a getaway in the Breckenridge, Michigan region.
Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at River Ridge Family Campground appear to be somewhat varied. One positive review highlights a memorable Fourth of July family vacation, praising Rebecca at the front desk for her helpfulness and noting the clean showers and well-maintained property. The reviewer also mentioned reasonable weekly rates during the peak season and the joy of their daughter learning to swim in a comfortable environment. This positive feedback suggests that River Ridge Family Campground can indeed provide a pleasant and enjoyable experience for families, making it a contender when searching for 'family campground Michigan' or 'camping near me'.
However, another recent review presents a more critical perspective, indicating potential inconsistencies in the campground's service quality. This reviewer, a repeat visitor, noted a decline in their experience compared to previous stays. Specific concerns were raised regarding the limited store hours, which close early and reopen late, restricting the purchase of essential items like firewood after hours. For tent campers, the placement on a hill was mentioned as a potential drawback. Noise disturbances were also noted, with lawn mowing occurring as early as 7:30 AM.
Furthermore, the condition of the pond inflatables was reported as unsuitable for children's play. While acknowledging that the river's depth for kayaking is beyond the campground's control, the reviewer suggested that a warning about shallow areas requiring manual pulling for tandem kayaks would be beneficial. A lack of soap in the bathroom overnight and into the late morning was another issue raised. Despite these criticisms, the reviewer still acknowledged the campground's beauty and expressed hope for improvements.
Considering these contrasting reviews, local users searching for 'camping near me' should approach River Ridge Family Campground with a balanced perspective. The positive feedback emphasizes the potential for a beautiful family vacation with clean facilities and a helpful staff member. The negative feedback, however, highlights areas that may require attention, such as store hours, campsite placement for tent campers, maintenance of recreational equipment, and the availability of basic amenities like soap in restrooms.
The fact that the campground offers both RV spaces and tent camping suggests it caters to a range of camping preferences. The positive review specifically mentions renting an RV space, indicating that the campground is equipped to handle recreational vehicles. The negative review mentions sleeping in tents, confirming the availability of tent sites, although the placement on a hill might be a consideration for some tent campers.
The presence of a store on the campground can be a significant convenience for campers, providing access to basic necessities and perhaps some recreational items. However, the reported limited store hours could be a drawback, especially for late arrivals or those needing supplies outside of the operating times. Local users should inquire about the store's current hours of operation when making reservations or upon arrival.
The mention of a swimming spot where a child felt comfortable learning to swim suggests that River Ridge Family Campground offers some form of water-based recreation, likely a pond as indicated by the later comment about inflatables. This can be a major attraction for families, especially during the warmer months. However, the reported poor condition of the pond inflatables is a point of concern for those planning to utilize this amenity.
The proximity to the Pine River, as indicated by the address (W Pine River Rd), suggests potential for river-related activities such as kayaking. However, the review's caution about shallow parts requiring manual pulling should be noted by those planning to kayak on the river. It would be prudent for local users interested in kayaking to inquire with the campground about recommended routes, river conditions, and any safety advice.
In terms of services, the clean showers mentioned in the positive review are a significant plus. Clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are crucial for a comfortable camping experience. However, the lack of soap in the bathroom reported in the negative review indicates a potential issue with consistent maintenance of this essential amenity. Local users may want to inquire about the campground's cleaning schedule and the availability of basic supplies in the restrooms.
The well-maintained property noted in the positive review suggests that the campground generally takes pride in its appearance. However, the specific issues raised in the negative review, such as the condition of the inflatables and the early morning lawn mowing, indicate potential lapses in maintenance or consideration for guest comfort at certain times.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for weekly stays, off-season rates, or any other special offers should contact River Ridge Family Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. It's always advisable to inquire about any current promotions when making a reservation.
In conclusion, River Ridge Family Campground in Breckenridge, MI, offers a local camping option with both RV and tent sites. While one review highlights a positive family vacation with clean showers and a helpful staff member, another points out concerns regarding store hours, campsite placement, maintenance of recreational equipment, and basic amenities. Local users searching for 'camping near me' should consider these varied experiences and directly contact the campground to inquire about current conditions, services, and any promotional offers to determine if it meets their family's needs and expectations for a camping getaway.

River Ridge Family Campground Reviews
Me and my family rented an RV space for the fourth of July week. We had a beautiful family vacation. Rebecca at the front desk was such a sweet soul. We will definitely put this on the top of our list for family getaways. The showers were clean. The property is well maintained and it was reasonable for the weekly rate during peak season. My daughter learned how to swim because she finally found a spot where she felt comfortable. Loved it!
Jan 20, 2025 · Ashe BaliWe have stayed at this camp ground many times. This year was not the same. Not sure why. The store hours are not the greatest. They close early and do not open back up until 10AM. After the store closes you cannot purchase fire wood. We sleptin tents and they put us on a hill. A gentleman who works there was riding a lawn mower around the park at 7:30AM.The pond inflatables were not in any kind of condition for our kids to play on.I do realize the depth of the river for kayaking is out of their hands. But they could warn you that part of the trip down the river in a tandem you will have to get out and pull through the shallow parts. No soap in the bathroom over night into the late morning. It’s a beautiful camp ground I hope that whatever is going on gets taken care of soon.

Jul 30, 2024 · Shelly TolsdorfWe stayed there this past weekend. It was not the experience we had hoped for. The inflatable in the pond was so deflated that my kids couldn't even climb on and we paid extra for them to do it. It became a safety hazard. I saw kids trying to climb on and it was flipping over on them. So dangerous! When I asked, they said there is a leak and they reinflate each morning. It was not inflated each morning. The bathrooms were dirty. Two of the 4 sinks in the woman's restroom were clogged. It says they clean the bathrooms every two hours, but they definitely did not.We went to the cafe for ice cream and asked for flavors they had posted and the staff person said, "those flavors are on the bottom and really hard ." I asked what that meaned and she said, nevermind I'll get it (but was not happy about it)When we checked in, we weren't given any information except a map. It was supposed to be Western Weekend, so I assumed there were activities, but we had no clue what. We found out that there were activities, but by the time we saw them it was too late to participate. We did enjoy the tube float down the river. The guy that took us to th drop off was very nice and friendly. It felt like he was the only guy doing everything around the campground. Maybe they are short staffed?I don't write a lot of reviews, but I was really disappointed in this campground.
Jul 19, 2024 · Tim & Vanessa NolteWe showed up for our reservation, and they put us on a lot too small for our camper. They could not accommodate us. We had to leave after driving 3 hours there. Our reservation was made many months in advance. We had given them all of the information needed, the size of our camper, where our slide outs were, and amperage. Very disappointing. We had never had that happen to us before.
