We have been here for 5 months and have loved it! This place has a small family/ community feel and everyone helps everyone. It’s clean, quiet, well cared for and of course has llamas that are fun to see and go up and talk to. Tina, the manager, is super responsive to texts and calls and does SO MUCH to keep this place going. I also love that there is propane right here on site. I’m so grateful for her help during the cold snow when my water wasn’t working right. She’s amazing. We are glad we chose to stay here ! - Rochelle Borcherdt

Lazy Llama Campground Introduce

If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Chuckey, Tennessee area, Lazy Llama Campground, located at 405 S Chuckey Ruritan Rd South, Chuckey, TN 37641, USA, presents a unique option. This campground offers a blend of a small community atmosphere and the novelty of interacting with llamas. To get in touch, you can call them at (423) 330-5665 or +1 423-330-5665.

Based on customer reviews, the environment of Lazy Llama Campground seems to offer a mixed experience. One reviewer who stayed for five months highlighted the "small family/ community feel," describing it as "clean, quiet, well cared for." They particularly enjoyed the presence of llamas, finding them "fun to see and go up and talk to." This suggests that for some, the campground provides a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, fostering a sense of community among its residents. The mention of llamas as a unique feature adds an interesting and potentially engaging element to the camping experience, especially for animal lovers.

However, another longer-term resident (around seven months) presented a more critical perspective. They found the overall experience "quite mediocre," noting that while "the campground itself is a nice area," the immediate surroundings, including the road, were less appealing due to dog barking from neighboring yards, heavier-than-expected traffic, and nearby houses with "junk." This indicates that while the internal campground might have its charms, the external environment could be a concern for some visitors.

Regarding services, the second reviewer mentioned that "amenities are pretty slim," suggesting that this campground might focus more on a basic camping experience rather than extensive facilities. They also pointed out that the campsites are not of equal sizes, which could impact the level of privacy and proximity to neighbors depending on the assigned site. The availability of propane on-site was noted as a positive by the first reviewer, indicating at least one convenient service for campers.

The management and maintenance of the campground also received mixed feedback. The first reviewer praised Tina, the manager, for being "super responsive" and doing "SO MUCH to keep this place going," including assistance during a winter weather-related issue. This suggests a dedicated and helpful on-site manager. In contrast, the second reviewer expressed concerns about the owner being "very hands off" and the manager bearing an "excessive load," which they believe contributed to issues like "bathrooms frequently messy (then closed because people are messy)," "dog waste trash cans were consistently overflowing, and frequently lacking bags," and a rarely staffed office. They also described the bathhouse as "obviously quickly and poorly done" with frequent "quick fixes."

The second review also raised concerns about the unprofessional handling of situations, sometimes addressed on a Facebook page where not all residents were active. A specific issue with electrical billing being "way too high" and initially defended as correct before being rectified was also mentioned, highlighting potential administrative challenges. These points suggest that while some aspects of the management are commendable, others might need improvement.

The features of Lazy Llama Campground are particularly notable due to the presence of llamas, which is clearly a unique draw. The opportunity to see and interact with these animals sets it apart from typical campgrounds. Beyond this, the "small family/ community feel" mentioned by one reviewer could be considered a feature for those seeking a more connected camping experience. However, the limited amenities, as perceived by another reviewer, might be a feature (or lack thereof) depending on individual preferences.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive comments about the manager's helpfulness and the community atmosphere could be seen as implicit selling points for those seeking a more personal and supportive camping environment. For potential local users looking for "camping near me," the unique llama encounter could also serve as a strong promotional aspect, particularly for families or those looking for a memorable experience.

In conclusion, Lazy Llama Campground offers a unique camping experience in Chuckey, TN, primarily due to its resident llamas and the potential for a close-knit community feel. While some visitors have praised its cleanliness, quietness, and the responsiveness of the manager, others have pointed out concerns regarding the limited amenities, maintenance of facilities, and aspects of the surrounding environment and management. For local users considering this campground, it would be beneficial to weigh the positive aspects, such as the llama interaction and community feel, against the potential drawbacks mentioned in the reviews. Contacting the campground directly at (423) 330-5665 or +1 423-330-5665 could provide more up-to-date information on services, availability, and any current promotions.
