Little Badger Campground Introduce
For local adventurers in search of a more secluded and rustic "camping near me" experience, Little Badger Campground, situated near Dufur, Oregon 97021, offers a unique and tranquil escape. This campground, reachable at (503) 668-1700 or +1 503-668-1700, is specifically designed for tent camping and is known for its creek-side setting and the more challenging access road leading to the sites. Based on feedback from fellow campers, Little Badger Campground is a "sweet little hidden Creek campground" that rewards those willing to navigate its access with a peaceful natural environment and opportunities for hiking and hunting.
Environment: Secluded Creek-Side Tranquility
The environment of Little Badger Campground is characterized by its secluded location and the presence of a creek running through the site. This creek provides a pleasant ambient sound, creating a relaxing natural atmosphere for campers. However, as one reviewer notes, the proximity to the creek can also lead to chilly nights, so packing accordingly with warm layers is advisable. The "hidden" nature of the campground suggests a greater sense of privacy and immersion in nature compared to more developed or easily accessible sites.
The campground is tent camping only, which contributes to a quieter and more traditional camping experience. The absence of RVs and their associated infrastructure further enhances the natural ambiance. The surrounding area is described as having "lots of nice hiking trails," making Little Badger Campground an appealing basecamp for local hikers looking to explore the wilderness near Dufur. Additionally, it's highlighted as a "BIG hunting spot," indicating that the area is popular among hunters during appropriate seasons. This dual appeal to hikers and hunters underscores the campground's location within a significant natural area.
A crucial aspect of the environment is the access road. Reviewers consistently mention that the road can be challenging, particularly for smaller vehicles. One describes a "very long well kept gravel road" that gets you to within 0.8 miles of the campsite cluster. Beyond this point, there's a "pretty difficult and narrow offshoot" that is much easier to navigate with lifted vehicles. This rough access contributes to the campground's secluded feel but is an important consideration for potential visitors with lower-clearance vehicles like Honda Civics or Toyota Corollas.
Services and Amenities: Rustic Simplicity
The available information suggests that Little Badger Campground offers basic, rustic amenities, consistent with its secluded and tent-only nature. The mention of "Fire pits are provided" indicates that campers can enjoy campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience. However, details about other amenities such as restrooms, water sources, or trash disposal are not provided in the reviews. Given the description and the challenging access, it's likely that this is a more primitive camping experience where campers should be prepared to be self-sufficient.
The fact that there are only three sites ("Besides the journey there there are 3 sites here") suggests a very small and intimate campground. This limited number of sites further contributes to the sense of seclusion and tranquility. The positive aspect mentioned is that there is "Plenty of room for multiple vehicles per site," which is beneficial for groups or families who may arrive in separate cars, especially up to the point where the rougher offshoot of the road begins.
The phone numbers provided suggest that inquiries about the campground and its current status can be made, which is advisable given the access road conditions and the limited number of sites.
Features and Activities: Hiking, Hunting, and Creek-Side Relaxation
The primary features of Little Badger Campground are its natural setting along a creek and its proximity to hiking trails and hunting areas. The creek itself offers a pleasant auditory backdrop and may provide opportunities for cooling off (though this is not explicitly stated). The surrounding area is rich in hiking trails, catering to those who enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot. The designation as a "BIG hunting spot" highlights its appeal to hunters during designated seasons, emphasizing the importance of wearing vibrant colors for safety during these times.
The tent-only nature of the campground fosters a more traditional and quiet camping environment. The limited number of sites ensures a less crowded experience, allowing visitors to truly connect with nature. The provision of fire pits encourages the classic camping tradition of gathering around a fire for warmth, cooking, and socializing.
The challenging access road, while a potential drawback for some vehicles, can also be seen as a feature that contributes to the campground's seclusion and helps to keep it less frequented. This can be a significant draw for those seeking a more off-the-beaten-path camping experience.

Little Badger Campground Reviews
Sweet little hidden Creek campground. Tent camping only, rough access road
May 05, 2025 · Oscar EisenschmidtThis camp site is pretty awesome but cars in the Honda Civic / Toyota Corolla category WILL have a little trouble getting all the way to the campsite. There is a very long well kept gravel road that will take you to about .8 miles from the campsite cluster. After that there is a pretty difficult and narrow offshoot that lifted vehicles of some type will have a much easier time with.Besides the journey there there are 3 sites here. Plenty of room for multiple vehicles per site. There is a creek that runs through the site which is nice for ambient sound but can make for some chilly nights. Lots of nice hiking trails in the area. BIG hunting spot so do be careful and wear vibrant colors so an accident doesn't happen. Fire pits are provided.
Apr 16, 2021 · Alex BangerterVery small campground with a small creek. This spot doesn't get alot of sun because your in a ravine
Apr 19, 2021 · Justin FleskesThis is a decent campground offering a couple spots very close to the creek. There are also trail heads very close by. The surrounding areas are gorgeous. Also, a pit latrine is available as well.
Jul 03, 2017 · Dan HoffmanSo beautiful and quiet. Very clean. Perfect place for a small extended family to bring the kids to explore and "rough" camp.
