Montana Old West Cabins Introduce
Are you searching for "camping near me" that offers more than just a campsite? Montana Old West Cabins, located at 2 W Shore Duck Rd lake, Babb, MT 59411, USA, provides a unique and authentic Montana experience. You can reach them at (406) 845-5452 or their mobile number +1 406-845-5452 for bookings and inquiries. Based on feedback from previous guests, this isn't just a place to stay; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the region, with convenient access to Glacier National Park.
The environment surrounding Montana Old West Cabins is described as peaceful and quiet, offering a respite from the noise of everyday life. Situated near a lake, guests can enjoy the tranquility of the water and the surrounding landscapes, including awesome sunrises and sunsets. The location also boasts excellent proximity to both the Many Glacier and St. Mary's entrances of Glacier National Park, making it an ideal base for exploring the park's wonders. One reviewer noted, "It’s a wonderful place to go and set in peace and quiet and enjoy what the Lord has created for us, with awesome sunrise and sunsets. The lake is close."
In terms of services and facilities, Montana Old West Cabins offers a more rustic experience compared to a traditional campground. Accommodation is primarily in cabins, which are described as nice and comfortable. While the facilities are still under development (with a second shower and bathroom under construction at the time of the review), guests have access to an outdoor shower and toilet that were reported to be good. Interestingly, Wi-Fi was surprisingly strong and solid, which can be a valuable amenity for those who wish to stay connected. It's important to note, as mentioned by a guest, that these are cabins, and visitors should "bring your own conveniences if you have those needs." This suggests a level of self-sufficiency is appreciated, aligning with the "Montana experience" described in one of the reviews.
One of the unique features highlighted by guests is the charm of the property, even while still being built up. A particular point of interest is a teepee with exhibits about the owners' family and cultural history, including the fascinating detail that Dale once discovered a T-Rex skeleton. This adds a layer of cultural and historical richness to the stay, going beyond the typical campground experience. The owners, Dale and Patti, are consistently praised for being "the nicest people" and a "wonderful couple" who enhance the stay with their history and stories of old. One guest mentioned, "Dale and Patti are the nicest people, the cabin was nice and comfortable, and the outdoor shower and toilet were good. The wifi was surprisingly strong and solid, too." Another reviewer stated that the owners "make the stay all the better with history and stories of old."
While the experience is highly positive, some practical considerations were mentioned. One guest noted that the owners were "sometimes hard to find," such as upon arrival (though they left a note) or when needing items like towels. This suggests that while the service is friendly and helpful, it might not be as immediately accessible as in a more conventional lodging setting. However, the overall sentiment is that these minor inconveniences do not detract significantly from the positive experience.
For those looking for "camping near me" with a difference, Montana Old West Cabins offers:
- Comfortable and charming cabins.
- Access to a lake.
- Strong and solid Wi-Fi.
- A unique cultural experience through the teepee exhibits.
- Proximity to Glacier National Park (Many Glacier and St. Mary's entrances).
- The hospitality and stories of the owners, Dale and Patti.
It's worth noting that the facilities are still evolving, so future stays might include the additional shower and bathroom that were under construction. The emphasis here is on the "Montana experience" – a more personal and rustic stay where the connection with the place and the people is a key part of the appeal. As one reviewer aptly put it, "If you really want the Montana experience this is the place to go, it’s not a five star hotel with maids and phones and conveniences, but the people are the best."
While specific promotional offers aren't mentioned in the provided reviews, the strong endorsements from satisfied customers serve as a powerful recommendation. The repeated praise for the owners and the unique character of the cabins and the property suggest that a stay here offers value beyond just a place to sleep. The proximity to Glacier National Park is also a significant draw for those planning to explore the natural wonders of the area.
In conclusion, Montana Old West Cabins provides a distinctive alternative to traditional campgrounds for those searching for "camping near me" in the Babb, Montana area. It offers comfortable cabin stays, access to a lake, surprisingly good Wi-Fi, and a touch of local history and culture. The warm hospitality of Dale and Patti further enhances the experience. While it's not a full-service resort, its charm, peaceful environment, and convenient location near Glacier National Park make it a compelling choice for travelers seeking an authentic Montana getaway. Come prepared to enjoy a more rustic and personal experience, and you're likely to find the beauty and the people of Montana Old West Cabins truly memorable.

Montana Old West Cabins Reviews
The campground is still a work in progress and facilities (second shower, bathroom) were still under construction, but we really liked it here. Dale and Patti are the nicest people, the cabin was nice and comfortable, and the outdoor shower and toilet were good. The wifi was surprisingly strong and solid, too. The only thing I would mention is that they were sometimes hard to find, like when we first arrived (they left a note for us, though, so no worries) or when we needed towels so we could shower. But even with the campsite still being built up, it was very charming (we loved the teepee with exhibits about their family and cultural history - Dale discovered a T-Rex skeleton once!) And the distance to both Many Glacier and St. Mary's entrances to Glacier National Park were excellent.

I really enjoyed my stay and I hope they do well and I am looking forward to my next stay with them. Hopefully I can do a whole week next time.
Sep 11, 2023 · Robert BuscherThe owners are the nicest people and helpful. Location is just okay. This is not really a campground just a barren unkept, overgrown field of weed with full hookup. Abandoned office - no-one there. Owners live up the hill. All in all about six sites and two cabins. Sites are not level. Not one tree on premise. No place to put your garbage - not one barrel. No amenities whatsoever (bathroom, shower). No place for kids to play. Sign to the place small hand made close to the ground - easily missed. The roads in the campground are gravel. The first few days there was no wifi - than they installed a good star-link wifi. Would not recommend unless you are desperate.
Jul 10, 2023 · Moshe BacharachPatty and Dale are fantastic. Still building up the campground when we were there but had full hook-ups for the RV. Can't wait to come again when the restrooms and bathhouse are complete. Patty gave us a incredible short lesson on naturally healing the body with some plants (gotta get them at the right time and usually the roots) that I believe has been used for generations of the Blackfeet. This was one of those things that you just can't get at the standard tourist destinations and was just wonderful. Thanks Patty and Dale for your super hospitality. We will hopefully see you next year in our own RV!
Jul 26, 2021 · Tim SweeneyIf you are coming to Glacier National Park you have to stay here. This is a great location and accessible to everything. We stayed in one of the RVs and it was clean, neat and well cared for. These are amazing, down to earth, salt of the earth people! Patty, the hostess really took care of us! I highly recommend!
