For local users in search of "camping near me," Nantahala Hideaway provides both traditional campground sites and cozy cabins, all within reach of the stunning Nantahala National Forest. Let's explore the environment, potential services, features, and promotional aspects of this appealing destination.
The Environment: Beauty Tucked Away Near Nantahala National Forest
The reviews consistently praise the beauty of the location of Nantahala Hideaway. Situated a few miles from the main tourist area, the campground and cabins are described as being "up off the road," approximately 200 yards from the gate, creating a sense of being "tucked away." This suggests a more secluded and tranquil environment compared to campgrounds directly on busy roads. The proximity to the Nantahala National Forest implies that guests can expect to be surrounded by the natural splendor of Western North Carolina, including lush forests, potentially mountainous terrain, and opportunities for exploring the vast wilderness of the national forest. One reviewer specifically mentions the "constant water flow in the nearing creek," highlighting the soothing sounds of nature that permeate the area. The "great environment" noted by another guest further underscores the appealing natural setting. If you're looking for "camping near me" that offers a peaceful escape into nature, Nantahala Hideaway's environment seems to be a significant draw.

- Partial Linen Service: Guests are expected to bring their own bedding and bath towels, which is a common practice for cabin rentals.
While the review focuses on the cabin experience, the name also includes "Campground," indicating the availability of traditional campsites. Services for campground guests might include:
- Campsites: Likely for tents and possibly RVs. The nature of the sites (e.g., primitive, with hookups) isn't specified but is a standard offering for campgrounds.
- Restroom Facilities: Typically available for campground guests.
- Water Access: Essential for camping.
- Potential for other amenities: Given the ongoing renovations under the new owner, there might be plans for improvements or additional services.
The friendly and helpful nature of the people running the place is also highlighted in a review, suggesting good customer service for all guests, whether staying in a cabin or at a campsite. For those searching for "camping near me" with a choice between cabins and traditional camping, Nantahala Hideaway appears to cater to both preferences.

Nantahala Hideaway Campground & Cabins. Formerly Nelsons Nantahala Hideaway Reviews
The campground is under a new owner and they are renovating as quickly as they can, but the place was awesome. We stayed in a cabin which was very nice. They provided all necessities like trash bags, dish soap and towels, paper towels, toilet paper. You have to take your bedding and bath towels but that is expected. I highly recommend the Hideaway and it will only get better.
Apr 08, 2025 · Nancy StewartThe place is beautiful, a few miles from the tourist area. The camp ground is up off the road. About 200 yards to the gate. Tucked away. I spent the weekend in the cabin. Great environment. The people running it are wonderful an friendly. If you like to hike. The trails are amazing. The little cabin on top of the hill. Or the power towers. Hike the power towers at night an wow. Beautiful view of the sky.Was not going to leave a review because I didn't want anyone to know of this place. But it needs light on it. Solid camp ground. The constant water flow in the nearing creek. All around. Beautiful spot.
Apr 05, 2025 · Erik NewmanSimple efficiency cabin was great. Enjoyed the pleasures of the outdoors with some of the most important comforts of home. Not luxurious, but a great place at a fair rate. Demands for deposit return are very simple and reasonable and deposit refund was made at 5pm on day of checkout. Will go back.
Oct 20, 2024 · PVAdventuresCamped here for kayaking the Nantahala. For a Friday night the place was not busy. We rented a basic camp site and had plenty of room for two tents and a truck. Three or four tents are do able, but it would start to get tight. Really depends on the lot at that point. The bathroom and showers were reasonably clean. Better than I expected.
Jul 01, 2024 · wesley whitenerA nice clean campground with a peaceful downhill stream and a fun hike behind the grounds which brings you to a beautiful vista.
