Needles KOA Journey Introduce
Are you searching for exceptional "camping near me" experiences? Look no further than Needles KOA Journey, a well-situated campground nestled in Needles, California. As a part of the renowned KOA (Kampgrounds of America) network, Needles KOA Journey offers a range of camping options and amenities designed to cater to various travel styles and needs. Whether you're an RV enthusiast, a tent camper, or prefer the comfort of a cabin, this campground provides a convenient and potentially enjoyable base for exploring the surrounding area.
Located at 5400 Route 66, also known as 5400 National Old Trails Rd, Needles, CA 92363, USA, Needles KOA Journey benefits from its accessibility. Its proximity to the historic Route 66 makes it a compelling stop for those traversing this iconic American highway. Furthermore, its location offers a balance of convenience, being not too far from the interstate to ensure easy access, yet sufficiently removed to mitigate disruptive road noise, as highlighted by a satisfied guest.
For those traveling in recreational vehicles, Needles KOA Journey appears to be well-equipped. One reviewer specifically praised the ease of maneuvering within the park, a crucial aspect for larger rigs. The availability of pull-thru sites is also a significant advantage, particularly for those with longer combinations, such as a 40' Class A RV towing a trailer and an additional vehicle. These spacious sites contribute to a stress-free arrival and departure experience. Moreover, the full hook-up (FHU) sites, where all utilities function correctly, ensure a comfortable and convenient stay for RVers.
While opinions on the overall condition of the campground seem to vary, with one reviewer noting it as the "most run-down KOA" they've encountered, another describes it as "one of the better KOA's" they've stayed at, emphasizing the great value for the price. This suggests that while some aspects might show signs of wear, the fundamental necessities and overall experience can still be positive, especially considering the affordability.
A notable feature mentioned in the reviews is the presence of a pool that is open earlier in the season compared to some other RV resorts. This can be a significant draw for travelers seeking recreational opportunities, particularly during warmer months. The fact that the pool was open before Memorial Day is a testament to the campground's commitment to providing amenities for their guests early in the season.
Beyond the camping sites themselves, Needles KOA Journey offers additional conveniences. The presence of a store that is described as "nice" and "full of many items and gift shop" is a valuable asset. This on-site store likely provides essentials, snacks, and souvenirs, adding to the convenience of staying at the campground and potentially reducing the need to travel elsewhere for basic necessities or mementos.
The staff at Needles KOA Journey are consistently described as "friendly," which plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere for guests. Friendly and helpful staff can significantly enhance the overall camping experience, providing assistance and local information when needed.
From a location perspective, Needles KOA Journey serves as a strategic base for exploring regional attractions. One reviewer mentioned using the campground as a stopover while visiting the wild burros in Oatman, Arizona, and en route to Las Vegas. This highlights the campground's convenient location for those interested in exploring the unique charm of Oatman and the entertainment hub of Las Vegas, both within a reasonable driving distance.
In summary, for local users searching for "camping near me," Needles KOA Journey offers a conveniently located option in Needles, California. It provides a range of camping facilities, including RV sites with full hook-ups and pull-thru availability, as well as options for tent campers and potentially cabin rentals (though not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews). The campground features a pool, a well-stocked store with a gift shop, and is staffed by friendly personnel. While opinions on the overall upkeep may vary, the campground is praised for its value and strategic location, offering easy access to Route 66 and serving as a suitable base for exploring nearby attractions like Oatman and Las Vegas. Needles KOA Journey Reviews
The only RV Resort I've stayed where the pool is open BEFORE Memorial day! Gotta give credit to them for that. Other than that, it's the most run-down KOA I've ever stayed at from east to west coast. It does the job for a one-night stay, nothing crazy. It also has a nice store full of many items and gift shop.
Apr 24, 2025 · brisa darbyStayed at this KOA to visit the Burros in Oatman and on the way up to Las Vegas. Friendly staff, easy to manuver in park and pull thru site was perfect for our 40' Class A Rig that tows a 14' trailer and also a prius for our drive around car. Good price for KOA and what is around to explore. Not too far off the interstate, but far enough so no road noise. Did use the pool and seemed good. FHU site, all worked well and good location for our rig. One of the better KOA's I've stayed at for sure and great value for the price.
Apr 18, 2025 · GP WhispererWe have not stayed here but it is on our travel plans. My review comes with the time and service I received by inquiring about a site! Front desk lady was super helpful in determining the site we should book and how we go about getting last minute reservations. Our conversation on the phone is what is making my decision on where to stay! You get to talk to a real person and phone number goes directly to the front desk of this particular location. Thank you for taking the time to chat with an old lady that had lots of odd questions!
Mar 26, 2025 · cjsgrlsx3This was primarily a campground and that was the service we used. The spots were tidy. We enjoyed the area for exploring. The dogs loved the dog park. There were good meal options nearby. The staff were helpful and congenial.
Apr 20, 2025 · Rebekah MooreWe loved this small quaint KOA. We were on a road trip to Arizona with our dog, I loved how easy it was and how cute our cabin was. The pool was too cold but it looked clean. The recreation room was the cherry on the top. We spent our night watching VCR movies with a puzzle and snacks. Small library too. Staff was great!
