New London Reservoir Campground Introduce
For local users in Ohio and the surrounding areas seeking a "camping near me" destination that offers a variety of recreational activities, New London Reservoir Campground, located at 2495 Euclid Rd in New London, OH 44851, USA, presents a location with potential. Situated near the New London Reservoir, this campground appears to offer opportunities for outdoor enjoyment beyond just camping. You can reach them for inquiries or reservations by calling (419) 929-8609 or their mobile number +1 419-929-8609.
Based on the available customer reviews, New London Reservoir Campground has aspects that might appeal to different types of visitors. One reviewer describes it as a "Really nice place" and highlights several key features. These include designated "camping areas," the availability of "PUBLIC fishing," and affordable "$5 boating rentals." The mention of being "Very big" suggests that the campground and the surrounding area are spacious, potentially offering a sense of openness and room to explore. The reviewer also notes that it "Looks like a fun place to sled" during winter and anticipates it will be "really lovely when summer comes back around," indicating year-round appeal for outdoor activities.
Furthermore, this positive review mentions a potential "swimming area with a small beach," which would be a significant draw for families and individuals looking to cool off during the summer months. The proximity to a "Golf course also" adds another recreational option for those interested in spending time on the links while enjoying their camping trip.
However, it is crucial to consider a contrasting and significantly negative review from another visitor who had a very unfavorable camping experience. This review raises serious concerns about the campground's management and customer service, particularly regarding campsite reservations and handling of issues. The reviewer recounts a situation where their reserved campsite was not as described (not near the water), followed by being moved multiple times and ultimately being denied a fire ring to cook dinner for their children due to a staff error. This led to the family deciding to leave and request a refund, which they claim was not fully honored, and they experienced difficulty in contacting a manager to resolve the issue.
This negative experience is further compounded by the reviewer's observation that the store was being run by "very young children" and their perception that the level of service had declined due to this change in staffing. The reviewer also mentions that another staff member was "very very rude" and treated them poorly due to the initial staff mistake. The fact that other campers who were supposed to occupy the final campsite were also "disgusted with how the staff treated us" suggests that the negative experience was noticeable and impacted others as well. As a result of this ordeal, the reviewer states they "won't go back" and hopes others don't have to endure a similar situation.
Considering these two contrasting reviews, it is evident that while New London Reservoir Campground offers appealing recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating rentals, a potential swimming area, and proximity to a golf course, there are significant concerns regarding the management, particularly concerning campsite reservations, staff professionalism, and customer service, especially in the event of errors. The negative review paints a picture of disorganization and a lack of accountability that could severely detract from the camping experience.
For local users considering "camping near me" at New London Reservoir Campground, it is essential to weigh the potential benefits of the recreational activities against the reported issues with management and customer service. The positive review highlights the natural attractions and available amenities, suggesting that the location itself has merit. However, the detailed negative review raises serious red flags about the reliability of reservations and the responsiveness of the staff in resolving problems.
Prospective campers might want to inquire specifically about the campsite they are reserving to ensure it meets their expectations regarding location and amenities like fire rings. It would also be prudent to understand the campground's policies on refunds and how issues are typically handled. The mention of "very young children" running the store is a specific point that potential visitors might want to consider, as it could impact the level of assistance and professionalism they might encounter.
Given the conflicting information, it would be wise for local users to seek more recent reviews from various online platforms to get a broader sense of the current state of the campground's management and facilities. Checking social media or camping forums might also provide additional insights from other campers.
As there is no information provided about specific promotional offers, local users interested in potential discounts or special rates at New London Reservoir Campground should contact them directly using the provided phone numbers. When calling, it would be advisable to inquire not only about pricing and availability but also about their policies regarding campsite assignments and issue resolution, perhaps referencing the recent negative review to gauge their awareness and response to such concerns.
In conclusion, New London Reservoir Campground offers a potentially attractive "camping near me" option with its public fishing, boating rentals, possible swimming area, and proximity to a golf course. However, a significant negative review detailing issues with campsite reservations, staff errors, poor customer service, and refund handling should give potential visitors pause. Local users considering this campground should carefully weigh the potential recreational benefits against the reported managerial concerns and seek more information before making a reservation. Direct communication with the campground management to address these concerns and clarify their policies is highly recommended.

New London Reservoir Campground Reviews
Really nice place. Has camping areas, PUBLIC fishing, & 5$ boating rentals. Very big. Looks like a fun place to sled and will be really lovely when summer comes back around. I believe there is even a swimming area with a small beach. Close to a Golf course also.
Feb 08, 2019 · Jessi LoveI would not recommend this place for camping! My family reserved a camp site and was told it was near the water. We arrive and it is no where near the water so we said something to the very young children that was running the store and they got into a golf cart and showed us options for another spot. We picked one had our tent up, fire going and cooking dinner and now a new worker comes up and tells us they made a mistake and we need to move to a new spot! We were told the new spot did not have a fire ring so we could not have a fire to even finish our dinner for our children! So we said give us a refund and we will go home! They agreed to and now refuse to refund me the full amount back and next to impossible to get a manager to call me back and explain why she lied to our family!! We use to love this place but since they have children running the store this year and made a mistake on their part and refuse to pay us our money we won't go back and hope nobody has to go thru what we went through!!! The campers that showed up that had originally reserved the site we were on was even disgusted with how the staff treated us when telling us to move when it was the staffs mistake! The other staff lady was very very rude with us and treated us poorly for the other staff members mistake! They even said it will be their last time camping there! Nobody should be treated like we were then keep our money cause they screwed up!!
Jun 22, 2020 · Jodi NealCalled and reserved a campsite and found out I reserved it at the wrong campground and when asked for a refund of $120 they said they can’t put it back on my card that they have to send it to this person then to the next person then to a town meeting before they can write me a check mind you I paid them when I reserved the site on 6/28/23 and the town meeting isn’t until 7/10/23 and they will mail the refund after it’s approved at the town meeting other than that the place is laid back nice place clean and the campers are all friendly
Jun 29, 2023 · Kyle SmithBeen going for 35 years. Fishing camping n swimming. Love taken my kids there.
Jul 28, 2024 · Eric AdamsI assume they delete their 1 star reviews but this place has horrible costumer service. I want to go on a huge rant but don't have the time. Water is gross and green, bird poop on the beach. All the blow ups in the water are gross and are broken. Highly suggest a different place.
