Ocean Cove Campground Introduce
For those seeking an authentic and unforgettable coastal camping experience, look no further than Ocean Cove Campground. Situated majestically on Highway 1, just north of the picturesque Bodega Bay, this campground offers a unique blend of rugged natural beauty and convenient access to essential amenities. As a prime destination within the "Camping Near Me" category, Ocean Cove Campground caters to a diverse range of outdoor enthusiasts, from seasoned RV travelers to intrepid hikers and cyclists.
The environment at Ocean Cove Campground is a significant draw. It’s characterized by its stunning proximity to the Pacific Ocean, with many campsites positioned directly on or very near shoreline cliffs. This provides campers with unparalleled, breathtaking views of the sea and the dramatic rocky terrain that defines the Sonoma Coast. Unlike many commercial campgrounds, Ocean Cove boasts a more natural and less structured layout. The sites are scattered somewhat randomly on dirt roads, creating a laid-back and spacious atmosphere that avoids the feeling of being "sardine-stacked." While the roads are unpaved and can be uneven in spots, this adds to the rustic charm that many campers appreciate. The sound of the waves and the fresh ocean air are constant companions, contributing to a truly immersive natural experience.
Services at Ocean Cove Campground are designed to cater to the dry camping experience, as there are no hookups available for RVs or trailers. This makes it an ideal spot for those who enjoy a more traditional, off-grid camping adventure. Despite the lack of hookups, essential facilities are readily available. Throughout the park, campers will find numerous outhouse sites, affectionately known as "Honey Buckets," ensuring convenient access to restrooms. Water spigots are also strategically scattered across the grounds, providing potable water for campers. A unique feature of Ocean Cove is its open-roof shower area. While not a typical private shower stall, it offers a refreshing way to clean up after a day of exploring. It operates on quarters, with $3 providing 6 minutes of hot water, allowing campers to quickly rinse off and feel refreshed. For those looking to enjoy a classic campfire experience, most campsites are equipped with a fire ring, perfect for burning wood and gathering around under the stars. The staff at Ocean Cove are consistently described by visitors as friendly and accommodating, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of the campground. Campers can expect clean sites upon arrival, reflecting the dedication of the staff to maintaining a pleasant environment.
The features of Ocean Cove Campground extend beyond just its stunning location and basic amenities. For active campers, there are several hiking trails within the campground that offer spectacular views of the coastline. These trails provide opportunities to explore the unique coastal ecosystem and spot local wildlife. For water enthusiasts, the campground offers easy access down to the waterline, and notably, there's even a rough launch ramp. While suitable for very small boats, this ramp is particularly ideal for launching Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs) and kayaks, allowing visitors to explore the calm waters of the cove. This feature is a significant advantage for those looking to enjoy paddle sports directly from their campsite. The campground's atmosphere is remarkably inclusive, attracting every type of visitor, from those in large diesel pusher RVs to hikers, cyclists, motorcyclists, and various other travelers and campers. This diverse community generally interacts with courtesy, happiness, and friendliness, creating a pleasant and social environment for all.
Beyond the campground itself, several convenient features are located just across Highway 1, making it incredibly easy for campers to access additional services. The Ocean Cove Store, where check-in and check-out for the campground are handled, is a valuable resource. It offers fresh coffee in the mornings, a welcome treat for early risers, as well as a variety of snacks, stickers, and essential camping food items. This eliminates the need for campers to make a long trip to a larger town for supplies. In addition to the store, a restaurant and a motel are also conveniently located across the highway. This provides options for those who might want a break from cooking or need additional accommodation for friends or family not staying in the campground.
Promotional information highlights Ocean Cove Campground as a "first come, first serve" establishment. This means campers should plan to arrive early, especially during peak seasons, to secure a spot. The check-in and check-out process is streamlined and handled directly at the Ocean Cove Store across the street from the campground, ensuring a smooth arrival and departure. The quiet time from 9 PM to 9 AM is strictly observed, ensuring that all campers can enjoy a peaceful and restful night's sleep, a feature highly praised by past visitors. The overall experience at Ocean Cove Campground is one of relaxation and immersion in nature. It's not a five-star resort, and its "rough" edges are part of its charm, appealing to those who prefer a more authentic and less manicured camping experience. The campground's phone number, (707) 847-3422 or mobile +1 707-847-3422, can be used for inquiries, although it's important to remember the first-come, first-serve policy for securing a site.
In summary, Ocean Cove Campground, located at 23150 CA-1, Jenner, CA 95450, USA, is a highly recommended destination for anyone searching for "Camping Near Me" along the beautiful California coast. Its stunning ocean views, direct access to hiking and water activities, friendly staff, and rustic charm make it an ideal choice for a memorable outdoor adventure. Ocean Cove Campground Reviews
What's not to love about this campsite? It's located on Highway 1, north of Bodega Bay. Most campsites have a fire ring where you can burn wood and hang out by the campfire. The staff are friendly and the sites are clean. There are no hookups, so you will be doing dry camping. There are plenty of outhouse sites, aka Honey Buckets and water spickets scattered throughout the park. There is one area where you can take an open roof shower. Make sure to bring quarters. The shower operates on 3 dollars worth of quarters, and for that, you get 6 minutes of hot water to wash yourself.Quiet time is from 9pm to 9am. So sleep is wonderful. We were just there this past week, Monday night, until Wednesday morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There's a few hiking trails with breathtaking views. The store across the street offers fresh coffee in the morning and plenty of snacks, stickers, and camping food in case you don't want to take a trip to the nearby restaurants. This campsite is 1st come, 1st serve. Check in and out at the Ocean Cove Store across the street from the camp ground.I highly recommend this campground.
Apr 21, 2025 · Jesus MejiaCasual, laid-back camp with showers and toilets, a few tables; all dirt roads, no pavement, and uneven in spots. The sites are scattered somewhat randomly about, which gives a great "feel" to the place. No sardine-stacking here. Many of the sites are on or very near shoreline cliffs, with wonderful views of the sea and rocky terrain. It's also easy to hike down to the water line, and there's even a rough launch ramp for (very) small boats, SUP's and kayaks and such. There's every type of visitor, from big diesel pushers to hikers, cyclists, motorcyclists, and every variation of traveler/camper. All we met were courteous, happy and friendly. In addition, just across the highway are a store, a restaurant, and a motel. Really a great spot... not 5-star, it's too "rough", but that's the way I like it.
Feb 11, 2025 · Greg IllesAbsolutely beautiful oceanside campground. It is open space dry camping. There are picnic tables and fire rings, but no set parking spots. Several spots right on the bluff overlooking crystal blue waters.
Apr 23, 2025 · Alan BoyleWent with family and friends. Was amazing. Great trails, beautiful scenery. Dogs have to be leashed and cleaned up after. One of the guys in our party caught a few fish for breakfast. Attendant made the rounds to let us know who/what/where assistance could be found. Lots of spots and less than average occupancy.
May 01, 2025 · Corena LonglandWe were led to this campground by a guy from Honey Bucket after our bad experience at Timber Cove Boat Landing. This is a phenomenal place to camp and the folks that run the store and BBQ oyster hut are absolutely amazing, friendly, caring people! The showers were clean, the facility was clean and sprawling, the boat landing and beach were incredible, and the store carried just about anything you needed! We will be back and thanks to the guy from Honey Bucket for recommending it and doing such a great job with the port o John's! We had an amazing vacation!
