For those seeking "camping near me" in a picturesque setting with different levels of camping comfort, Pettecote Junction Campground presents an interesting choice.
When you search for "camping near me," the surrounding environment is often a key factor. Pettecote Junction Campground is located along Pine Creek, which is described as "lovely" and "pristine." One reviewer who had a primitive tent spot right on the river mentioned falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the water, indicating a tranquil and nature-focused environment. Cedar Run, PA, is situated in a region known for its natural beauty, suggesting that the campground is likely surrounded by scenic landscapes. The services at Pettecote Junction Campground seem to cater to both traditional campers and those seeking a more comfortable experience. The availability of "primitive" tent spots right on the river indicates that basic camping needs are met. One reviewer who stayed in a "poplar cabin" (described as glamping) noted that it was fairly clean and the beds were better than tent camping, suggesting a step up in comfort. This cabin had a ceiling fan. The campground also has a store where campers can purchase items. While one review mentioned an issue with a tax transaction at the store, the presence of a store itself is a service for convenience. The availability of different types of accommodation – primitive tent sites and glamping cabins – suggests that the campground aims to cater to a range of preferences within the "camping near me" category.
To get a comprehensive list of the services offered, such as the amenities at the primitive tent sites (e.g., fire rings, picnic tables), the features of the glamping cabins (e.g., electricity, bedding), and other campground facilities like restrooms, showers, or water sources, local users should contact Pettecote Junction Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (570) 353-7183 or the mobile number +1 570-353-7183. The features of Pettecote Junction Campground include its location along Pine Creek, offering waterfront camping for some sites. The availability of glamping cabins, like the "poplar cabin" mentioned, is another key feature, providing a more comfortable alternative to traditional tent camping. The store on-site offers convenience for purchasing necessities. The walking path back to Goat Island, mentioned in one review, seems to be associated with another campground, Lake Somerset Family Campground, and not Pettecote Junction based on the provided reviews for Pettecote Junction. One review of the poplar cabin noted that the door only locks from the outside, which might be a consideration for those with young children. The pet-friendly nature is implied by the first reviewer mentioning their child. For local users seeking "camping near me" with a choice between riverside tent camping and glamping cabins, Pettecote Junction Campground offers these distinct features.
It's important to acknowledge the mixed feedback regarding the owner interaction in one of the reviews. While the reviewer stated it wasn't enough to deter a return visit, the experience of feeling "schooled" over a small tax amount was described as "off putting." This highlights the importance of customer service in the overall "camping near me" experience. The second reviewer, focused on the primitive tent site, did not mention any interaction with the owners, only praising the location along Pine Creek.

Pettecote Junction Campground Reviews
The poplar cabin (glamping) we stayed in was fairly clean, the ceiling fan could have used a dusting.. the beds were better than tent camping but loud everytime you moved. The door only locks from the outside and not the inside so this cabin isn't ideal for traveling with little toddlers that know how to open doors. But if you have no little children or older children you don't need to worry about it is a perfect spot. The campground itself is lovely. But the one owner was a little aggressive when I was purchasing things in the store for my child. I paid in cash and she explained there was tax needed (which sure I understand although the day before I bought a stuffed animal with cash and was not asked for tax so I was thrown off) I told her no problem, I would go get some change for her and bring it back. She was explaining they could charge my account which seemed silly over 30 cents of tax. Pretty sure it Cost more for them to process that with a card so TBH it just seemed like her trying to school me in front of her trainee and it was a little off putting. This was the first time ever meeting her. Our second stay at this campground. It wasn't enough to rub me wrong that I don't want to return but figured I would give my honest review. My mother in law had given up her spot for them a few days before check in to accommodate a party that wanted to be next to each other. So the transaction between us wasn't great and she could have handled the way she communicated better but just don't think that is her personality. First time we visited I never met her so let's hope when I return we have a better exchange. I'll be sure to have extra change for cash purchases.
Apr 28, 2025 · Kelly KochA pristine campground along the lovely Pine Creek. I had a "primitive" tent spot that was right on the river, and fell asleep each night to the soothing sounds of the river. I'll definitely be back.
Apr 27, 2025 · Al LearyThis was our first experience at Pettecote Junction Campground and we LOVED it! The staff was friendly and helpful. The campground is beautiful and the workmanship and attention to detail throughout the campsite is IMPRESSIVE! The showers were great and worth the quarters! Totally enjoyed the convenience to get onto the rails to trails. We were also grateful for the shuttle north to experience more of the trail. Thank you to the owners for creating such a great space for people to enjoy the great outdoors!
Oct 13, 2024 · Jean MccarneyWe loved our first stay at Pettecote Junction. We stayed in one of the primitive tent sites which overlook the river. Bathrooms are clean and the campsite overall is very well kept and adorable. The stars at night at amazing, we could see the Milky Way. They are also right along a railway converted to bike path, with truly stunning views along the river. In areas it felt like we were out West!! Also very close to great hiking. We will be back, thanks for a great stay!
Oct 07, 2024 · Kelly DanielsGreat campground! We stayed in the caboose, which was fun! The decor was beautiful and perfect for my husband and I! Staff were very nice and accommodating! Glenda was so helpful in giving us directions to Morris so that we could participate in a video conference that we had scheduled. Direct access to the Pine Creek Rail Trail was so convenient. Loved our stay and plan to go back!
