For inquiries or to plan your visit, you can contact them at (507) 368-9350 or their mobile number, +1 507-368-9350.
Based on visitor feedback, Picnic Point County Park is recognized as a large campground with a diverse range of activities to enjoy. One of its standout features is the presence of a beach area, complete with a play area, making it particularly appealing for families with children. The park also boasts significant opportunities for fishing in the lake, which is a major draw for anglers. Furthermore, visitors consistently mention the breathtaking beauty of the sunsets and sunrises over the lake, promising memorable scenic moments during your stay.
The campground is divided into three distinct camping areas. However, one reviewer noted that the reservation status of these areas might not be immediately clear, leading to a situation where they inadvertently began setting up in a reserved seasonal spot. It's advisable to clarify the availability of specific sites upon arrival to ensure a smooth setup process. This same reviewer eventually found a suitable spot in the back of the park with a pleasant view of the lake, indicating that despite the initial confusion, there are various locations within the campground to enjoy.
While many aspects of Picnic Point County Park are praised, one area identified for potential improvement is the cleanliness of the bathrooms. One visitor stated that if their visit were solely judged on the bathroom conditions, it would warrant a lower rating. This suggests that while the natural beauty and recreational offerings are strong, the upkeep of facilities might be inconsistent. However, this same reviewer emphasized the overall beauty of the location and expressed hope that others would enjoy their time there.
Another visitor, who had not yet camped at the park but was planning to, described the area as "clean and well cared for" and also noted the "pretty good fishing." This suggests that the general upkeep of the grounds, aside from the bathrooms, is appreciated, and the fishing opportunities are indeed a significant attraction for visitors.
Considering the feedback, Picnic Point County Park offers a compelling "camping near me" experience, particularly for those who value natural beauty and outdoor activities. The large size of the campground suggests ample space for visitors, and the variety of attractions, including the beach with a play area, the lake for fishing, and the stunning sunrises and sunsets, provide a rich environment for a getaway. While the clarity regarding reserved camping spots could be improved, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms appears to be an area needing attention, the overall sentiment leans towards this being a nice place to visit.
To enhance the experience for newcomers and ensure better maintenance of facilities, one reviewer suggested the addition of a campground host. A host could provide valuable assistance with site selection and help maintain cleanliness, potentially addressing the concerns raised. Despite these points, the inherent appeal of camping by a lake with opportunities for swimming, playing on the beach, and fishing, combined with the visual delights of the natural surroundings, makes Picnic Point County Park a noteworthy option for those seeking "camping near me" in the Lake Benton area.
In summary, Picnic Point County Park presents itself as a large and active campground with a lot to offer, especially for those who enjoy lake-based activities and scenic views. The presence of a beach with a play area caters well to families, while the fishing opportunities attract anglers. The beautiful sunsets and sunrises add a touch of magic to the camping experience. While there are mentions of potential improvements regarding site clarity and bathroom cleanliness, the overall impression from visitors is positive, highlighting the park's natural charm and recreational potential. If you are looking for "camping near me" that combines lake access with a variety of outdoor activities, Picnic Point County Park is worth considering. Picnic Point County Park Reviews
This is a large campground with a lot going on. There is a beach with a play area a lot of fishing on the lake beautiful sunsets and sunrises. There are three different areas for camping but it's not clear that some area's are reserved. We started to unload and set up our tent on the hill over looking the lake only to be informed we we're in a seasonal spot belonging to someone else. We moved to a area in the back of the park with a nice view of the lake.Over all this is a nice place but could honestly use a campground host to help newcomers along with helping keep the bathrooms clean. Honestly if I based my visit on the bathrooms it would be one star. This is a beautiful place and I do hope others enjoy it.
Jun 25, 2018 · Roxanne EstradaHaven't camped there yet but plan to soon. Clean and well cared for. Pretty good fishing.
Jun 25, 2023 · jason buchanIt's a nice park but if the poop could be cleaned up a little bit and the swim beach combed (lots of moss) it would be an awesome place. Had to watch were we stepped and I wouldn't let the kids in the water to play as it was way to hairy. Also could use some park benches...
Jul 02, 2017 · Becki DahlIt was before the camping season. The toilets were not open and many of the sites were flooded and muddy. We were all by ourselves because of foul weather.
May 13, 2022 · Helen MunroeIt was a beautiful little park and nice dock. We enjoyed the sunset.
